How Corrupt Is Your Government ? / "In *** We Trust"

Postby GOLTZBORG » Fri Mar 25, 2011 11:55 am

If a international reporter from Goltzborg's National News Network ( NNN ) were allowed access to your citizens ( who could choose to remain annonymous if they felt a need to ), what would your people say with regards to "how corrupt your government is"...in the eyes, and from the mouths, of your people ? ( Note: use corrupt as a means to gauge trust )
( i.e. do you feel that the majority of your citizens trust your govt...or distrust your govt ?? )

"well I always felt that sometimes do we trust a bit too much in bloodlines and all that but I wouldn't call me a republican if that is what you ask!" :~Nils Holgerssen commoner

If I had to complain so would it be nice to see a woman on the throne but you wouldn't want to go against the commands of Emanuel the first and centuries of tradition either!" Erika Ingridsdotir commoner

"me? ehhh, perhaps go a bit easier on us non-humans, sure don't take me wrong we need the help and I am grateful for it but I do just feel I want more sometimes, but that is just me being silly I guess" Elishia Filira elven servant

"The king have too much power if you ask me, what we need is a more decentralised system as we noblemen know what is best for our specific fiefdoms!"

The majority of citizens are generally trusting of the government, but frequently suspect it of being "up to something". Scandals happen from time to time, such as a recent case when 2 MPs resigned after it was discovered they had been accepting bribes in order to ask questions to the Prime Minister. A particularly nasty incident was an expenses scandal 8 years ago which resulted in 10 resignations and 14 MPs not seeking reelection.

Likely, we would complain copiously about the government, though would see no need to remain anonymous.
Despite the fact that the government is not corrupt, people always keep a healthy suspicion of it.

There's elements of corruption in every government, and Tsvarchivans do not deny there are such elements in their own. They do however believe that it is not rampant or out of control, and generally trust their government.

Generally, citizens trust the government, although there are segments of the population who distrust government on principle; the anarchists. The government is highly transparent and corruption is a rare piece of news.

Capitalists and Fascist Imperialists would like to imply that the Government of the glorious People's Republic is corrupt to the core, however our party members live in the same conditions as the proletariat and ride to work on the public transit system. We do not enjoy better lives than the equal masses. We believe all are equal.

*Minister of Foreign Affairs drives away in a Rolls Royce to his summer mansion*

that being said, Citizens do trust the government and it is generally percieved that they are not corrupt. Then again, its not wise to question the government at all in The People's Republic, 1 wrong remark equals life in the labour camps.

Frequent Propaganda campagins ensure that people have undying loyalty to the State and the Communist Party.

In the words of some random citizen:

It's hard to explain government corruption here. The government is corrupt, and that is WHY we trust it.

Only a properly-corrupt official can understand what drives the common Decepticon bot. How can he understand the thrill of the raid or what it's like to work the perfect connive if he can't see the same types of opportunities himself?! How can he understand the need for the government to laugh at extradition demands - if he himself doesn't have a few levied against him? If an official is too honest, he cannot understand the Decepticon people and will end up working against us.

Would you want a Communist running a Capitalism or vice versa? Of course not. Similarly, we don't want honest bots running our country. This nation is a syndicate. Cop-types aren't welcome here.

We can trust Leader Megatron and his appointees to take care of our needs and protect us from our enemies. They're great at finding raid targets, getting us the best hauls, and using the Military to make sure nobody tries to follow us home with their guns blazing. They keep the Energon flowing and the metal un-rusted. If some other nation or group has any sick ideas of imposing their idea of "order" on us, our government will make sure they lose those ideas in a hurry.

A non-corrupt government would do the opposite of most of that, and therefore would be an untrusted enemy that we'd have to throw out with great vigor.

The thing is, it's not like having foxes guarding a henhouse. This is a fox-house, and having a corrupt government is simply having the biggest foxes make sure the place stays a fox-house.

Aurora Nova has an exceedingly diverse population, however, as a general rule, our people support our governmental system. Politically, our population often feels that they are excluded from decision-making, as our legislature holds no initiative right, and may only veto political and social decisions made by our Emperor. Economically, however, neither the Emperor nor the Senate holds any power, and the people govern themselves and the nation generally through syndicalist measures: workplace and community councils, which elect delegates to regional councils, which similarly are represented at the national level. This gives every employed citizen hands-on decision-making power, and keeps what some citizens decry as a politically-corrupt government out of the people's economy.

I won't say there's no corruption, but measures have been taken to prevent it at nearly every level, from the voting booth the Prime Minister's desk.

Well, the National Socialists despise the government, the conservatives find the government to be a nest of communism, while the socialists (the majority) adore the government. There exist a few hardline communists that find the government to be weak and moderate, but they are in the minority in both the Communist Party and daily life. Corruption is low.
