It costs a bit but they save more people every year which means more people that can pay taxes. And if people have no place to live due to their home being destroyed then the government will provide a home for them to live in for free for up to a year at the end of which time they will start paying for the home for a predetermined payment plan that is best suited for them.

The Katzen National Fire Authority is the public Fire/Rescue service with one battalion located in each district and at least one company in each county (the larger counties fund/maintain additional NFA stations). Municipalities either maintain a volunteer fire department or contract with a private fire company. There are various private firefighting companies across Katzen who usually operate on contract.

Emergency medical services is publicly provided by the Katzen Safety Patrol. Privately operated medical services and ambulance companies are common.

Fire departments are considered an "essential service" in Central Kadigan. As such we do not leave to the private sector, who are concerned more with making money than with saving lives. All essential services in Central Kadigan are run by the state.

Fire, EMS, and Rescue services of Sud-Freistadt come mostly (70%) from the private sector-- it is commonplace among local and mulitnational corporations to have emergency services component, aside from the Freikorps (Sud-Freistadt's military and civil defense component) that do have such emergency service units of their own. Most are volunteer or commercial fire brigades and SAR, EMS squads with varying capacities (From firehouses that have only one fire truck to emergency service corporations that have fleets of rescue barges,incident command vehicles, NBC (Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical) containment units, and air assets) .
Most of these volunteers and contractors have worked and training overseas from various international organizations, the emergency services community within the country has heavily benefited from immigrants. There are also foreign-staffed emergency service providers who prefer working in the country because of better pay and labor conditions, and a lower cost of living owing to the Sud-Frei culture of brutal efficiency.

Vostag's fire departments are almost completely automated we still have firefighters in case the automated system fails which there is a 0.1% chance that it will. Instead of risking human lives the Vostagian fire departments use specially designed robots that are built out of lightweight, heat resistant, flame retardant materials to prevent damage in the line of duty. It has an air and water tanks that are built into it that are on its back with hose adapters on the back as well so that it can be attached to say a fire hydrant and pump water straight to its dual arm mounted water cannons. Mounted in a chest compartment are several oxygen masks that are placed on victims upon rescue. Several tools are built into its arms such as dual water cannons, dual foam cannons, an axe on either arm, a pike pole on either arm usually opposite the axe armed arm, a halligan bar on either arm, various hydraulic rescue tools on both arms, a spanner wrench on each arm, a circular rescue saw on one arm and a chainsaw opposite it, dual mounted flashlights as well as spotlights on each shoulder and water/foam cannons on each shoulder, and hands both of which are attached to a cable that is on a winch so they both can be used as a winch. It also has a camera, infrared, heat detector, smoke detector, and gas detector built-in to its head.

Each of the 20 local authorities head their own Fire Brigade- examples are Woldland Metropolitan Fire Brigade and Abbeyland District Fire Brigade.
There is a military wing, too- Woodstead National Fire Service, which is also in service for our offshore territories. Each brigade usually has four or five stations; they have some independence from the national government, so municipal governments can have an equal power over its resources, though it must satisfy those within the national government's relevant committees if the Brigade is requesting a raise in money.
