Are deaths by suicide in your nation recorded as separate from other acts of killing, such as accidental or murder? Yes...ish.

Death certificates in Nui-ta have two lines on them for "cause of death" --- the broad classification, and the specific cause of death. Suicide is listed as "self-murder", and can be listed under the specific cause of death: but broadly, all suicides are classified broadly as murders.

How many deaths annually are attributed to suicide? Approximately 8,000 deaths a year. On the one-hand, Nui-ta has decent mental health services and support systems for people who are feeling depressed or suicidal. On the other hand, Nui-ta is a very honor-based society, and shame is a huge concept here, often factoring into many suicides in which a reason is given.

As a percentage of annual deaths, how many are suicide? Usually between 2-5%.

Do societal or legal notions of honour or duty have any impact upon suicide in your nation? Yes. There is a strong sense of honor and shame in Nui-ta's culture, and many people who cannot conform to societal expectations in this more collectivist society report feeling depressed or even suicidal. "A feeling of incompetence" is even the number one cited reason in the nation as to why people commit suicide here.

Do religious organisations or cults have any impact upon suicide in your nation? Not really. If anything,

What is the general social attitude to suicide? It's increasingly being viewed as a problem. Welfare organizations and even the government are taking an increasing role in trying to prevent suicide among the population, establishing more funding for national suicide prevention measures such as a hotline or mental health services. Sadly, this is still such a new change in attitude that older generations are still very much of the opinion that suicides cannot be helped.

Is assisted suicide permitted by law? No.

Is the attempt of suicide itself a criminal act? No.

What is the most common / are the most common methods of committing suicide? Hanging, drug overdose, or intentionally falling from a high place.

What are the primary causes known for suicide? The top reason is a feeling of societal incompetence --- people feel as though they cannot fit in with society. They can't get the nice job or the nice family that everyone else has, and they feel alienated. Another common reason is a feeling of loneliness: in a society that prizes family and social contact, people who feel lonely and don't have as much of a social network tend to feel very alienated.

Is suicide disproportionately linked to an ethnic group, social class, or sex? Women are slightly more likely to commit suicide in Nui-ta. Among social classes, the rates have equalized relatively over the past 20 years. Among ethnic groups, ethnic Hadinians are far, far more likely to commit suicide (due to lack of ability to assimilate, and among the older population, high rates of untreated PTSD is a unique reason). The state of Kavia, which has a very high ethnic Hadinian population, was the first state whose government initiated a state-run crisis hotline for suicide.

Are their any government schemes in place to try and prevent suicide, or otherwise help those that are suicidal? Several, see above.

Are deaths by suicide in your nation recorded as separate from other acts of killing, such as accidental or murder?
Technically yes, but not in practice. Basically suicide is something that's considered deeply shameful for the family it happened in so family members will try and cover it up. And the state unofficially has provisions for allowing suicide deaths to be filed as accidental or natural if the family of the deceased wishes to do so. And that's what most often happens.

How many deaths annually are attributed to suicide? Unknown, but very few. Related to the above.

As a percentage of annual deaths, how many are suicide? Unknown.

Do societal or legal notions of honour or duty have any impact upon suicide in your nation?
Possibly. The number of people killing them self to remove them self as an object of shame from their family is going to be relatively low simply because the act of suicide it self is deeply shameful. But they are going to exist.

Do religious organisations or cults have any impact upon suicide in your nation?
Possibly. But not significant as both non-Purpelian religions and cults are illegal.

What is the general social attitude to suicide?
A person that commits suicide is not seen in any negative light. However his family is as society considers them fully responsible for not saving the poor sick suicide victim from their madness.

Is assisted suicide permitted by law?
Euthanasia for things like horrible torture diseases is. Without such a need no.

Is the attempt of suicide itself a criminal act? No. It is however a deeply shameful act both for the family (because suicide in the family is shameful) and the victim (because he is an useless failure that can't even die right).

What is the most common / are the most common methods of committing suicide? Unknown, see #1.

What are the primary causes known for suicide? Unknown, see #1.

Is suicide disproportionately linked to an ethnic group, social class, or sex? Unknown, see #1.

Are their any government schemes in place to try and prevent suicide, or otherwise help those that are suicidal? Nothing more or less than what you'd see in any other generic country.

Are deaths by suicide in your nation recorded as separate from other acts of killing, such as accidental or murder?
Yes. Deaths by suicide, manslaughter, and murder each constitute different individual circumstances by which someone has perished.
How many deaths annually are attributed to suicide?
Evergar currently holds a frequent position for haboring the highest suicide rate in Europe, typically at 19.9 per 100K.
As a percentage of annual deaths, how many are suicide?
Based on outside suicide reporting organizations and several domestic state statistics, between 2012-2020, suicide was the 3rd-leading cause of death in the country, behind overexhaustion and ritual sacrifice.
Do societal or legal notions of honour or duty have any impact upon suicide in your nation?
Yes, very significantly, they do. As a Germanic Pagan-based social order, the traditional sociocultural values of collectivism, folkishness ("blood and soil"), family strength, self-sacrifice, fatalism, and martyrdom have persisted into the 21st century leading back to a long history since before the Bronze Age. As a result, outsiders looking into the society often report extreme feelings of culture shock when they learn that suicide raises no similar level of concern as it may in their homeland.
Do religious organisations or cults have any impact upon suicide in your nation?
Cults as defined by modern Western standards are seldom a thing in the country. However, small groups of extremely devout natives and many larger organized religious groups have suicide as an important subject related to their worldview, beliefs, and practices. A great deal of suicides are especially motivated by religious convictions, spiritual struggling, radical acts of occultism, etc.
What is the general social attitude to suicide?
Generally, people at the very least passively accept it, even respect it. There are marginal movements that exist to raise the issue of the high suicide rate, who often encourage the communities around them to increase suicide hotlines, anti-suicide messages around places like high bridges, lobby for increased mental health budget spending and programs, and even entertain implementing "Decompression Parties" (organized meetups that freely allow public crying, ranting, and physical affection). Still, suicide is talked about in very positive terms, in some cases even encouraged by radicals who see it as the ultimate act of atonement or redemption.
Is assisted suicide permitted by law?
Assisted suicide is not officially legal, but there are also no existing laws prescribing the act as criminal offenses. People suspected of helping someone end his or her life may be deemed innocent of wrongdoing or held on charges of manslaughter, depending on the circumstances. Several movements exist that push for the official legalization of voluntary euthanasia in the country.
Is the attempt of suicide itself a criminal act?
No, suicide attempts are not against the law in Evergar.
What is the most common / are the most common methods of committing suicide?
The 5 most common methods of suicide in Evergar during the recent decade are these: Shooting, Falling, Hanging, Drowning, and Poisoning.
What are the primary causes known for suicide?
The 5 most common causes for suicide in Evergar during the recent decade are these: Failure to Repay Debts, Experiencing Extreme Depression, Inability to Keep Sworn Oaths, Committing Serial Manslaughter, and Botching a Ritual Sacrifice.
Is suicide disproportionately linked to an ethnic group, social class, or sex?
Over 80% of all suicide victims are Native Evergarian middle-aged working-class men..
Are their any government schemes in place to try and prevent suicide, or otherwise help those that are suicidal?
Unfortunately, no. The government is a dictatorial theocracy and frequently approves of or outright glorifies suicide as a way to protect honor or achieve personal redemption within the community. Very, very few politicians have spoken out against suicide as a negative, sorrowful problem.
