An arsonist may face the following charges:

• Vandalism, if property was damaged (punishable by 2-8 YellowApplan months* imprisonment and/or a fine proportional to the cost of repairs)

Also note that in YellowApple, sentence quantities stack, meaning that if an individual performed five acts of arson that resulted in damage to property consumption of contraband substance charges, that individual would receive 2-8 months* per vandalism conviction and 5-10 years* per contraband conviction, resulting in a total of 27.5 to 60 years* imprisonment and a fine equal to the amount of total damages.

We've never had an arsonist before, but the laws say that arson is punishable by 2 years in a corporate prison, and if your fire killed someone 10 years, if it killed more than one person 25 years, and thats if you can prove their death wasn't intentional, if you can't . . . .life.

BUT:

If it's arson in the typical sense of some nutty firebug lighting up a place for kicks - the owner of the building will usually come charging out, blasters blazing, and turn the arsonist into a pile of scorched scrap.

If the arsonist does it when the owner isn't there to catch him in the act, the owner will hunt him down and then do the above. If he isn't good enough at tracking, he'll hire a private security force to do it for him - and then do the above. If he's not good enough at fighting to win such a battle, he'll get his friends to help out or hire a private security force to help with that too.

Since there is no legal process involved, vengeance may take other forms besides plain blasting. Arsonists may get back to their own homes to find that the reason the owner didn't blast him is because that owner was too busy sneaking over to the arsonist's Energon vault and blowing it up, burning the arsonist's own home down, sugaring his Energon so it seizes up his engine, or committing some other such revenge-motivated mayhem.

Most buildings that get burnt down here, however, are NOT the result of some nutty arsonist out for kicks. They're businesses, and they're burnt down or blown up by the competition, or if they're exceptionally rotten dealers, by angry ex-customers. In these cases, massive lethal street battles may break out as the corporate security forces involved fight each other (or the mob of ex-customers) until one side is the clear victor.

Arson-by-nutjob is rare here, but corporate dominance firefights are considered only slightly interesting due to their higher incidence level. If a nutjob kills someone, the deceased's friends and relatives will try to hunt him down and get revenge. If a death happens in a battle, them's the breaks - losing is a known risk of engaging in battles, and if you couldn't accept the possibility, you shouldn't have taken part in one.
