The central emblem on the Marineri Islands flag represents a penu, a traditional carved rock or coral tool common across the Austral Islands (irl part of French Polynesia) which is used to crush food, similar to a pestle.

It is not a dress.

[OOC message] I lean left, but I realise that there still is a place for private industry in the economy. Private industry needs regulations or things get out of hand. At the same time, the public sector needs the private sector to inject external money into the economy and to keep public enterprise somewhat competitive. So, for everyone who asks why the Marineri Islands allows capitalism but is socialist, this is it. I know you may not agree with me, and that's fine.

Social democratic
- Aid to those who need it is provided free of charge at the expense of the most powerful. However, there is still a market and private property is protected as a right. The economy is distributist.

Statist/Authoritarian
- Exarkyon does not have too much government interference, but social expectations hold that one must put the collective over themselves.

Diplomatist - Allies are a necessity to survive in the Tyrian Sea.
Reformist/Conservative
- Exarkyon's political opinions are derived from Catholic teaching, which condemns error regardless of whether it is new or old.

Productivist
- To Exarkyon, technology is a means to an end and an expression of man's dominion of creation.

Religious
- Catholicism is a core of Exarkrion identity. However, this manifests as the state being loyal to Rome, not the other way around.

Territorial
- Aggressive enemies are common. There is only one way to deal with them.

Meritocratic/Elitist
- Government positions are a mix of elected, passed down from incumbent to chosen successor, and chosen by people in the first two categories.

Mixed Governmant
- The people have a say in electing the overseeing Council, which controls the Arkon, but the Arkon himself, who actually runs things, is not elected.

Monocultural
- Nobody in their right mind enters the Tyrian Sea from without. Exarkyon's population is homogenous for lack of immigration.
