"Rather sharp design, if I am honest. Quite a contemporary design and generally reflective of your nation's hybrid of ideologies. Don't tell me you have a fixed ideology. Don't. This is the future, non-partisan politics."

"Greetings. This is Commander Skystorm of the Imperial Decepticon Navy. So, my question for you today is: what interstellar programs is your nation undertaking, if any at all? Do you have any plans to form a space fleet that will, perhaps, navigate your solar system or perhaps beyond?"

"Greetings, Commander. This is a very good question, though I am sorry to disappoint. As we are a young nation in a rather inhospitable situation, we are now seeking to address the questions of national well-being and security before. We have not had any plan ourselves, although ambitious drafts exist because we do actually have the Space Agency, which we inherited after the Revolution."
...
"In the meantime, we are working with other left-wing nations as well as Eastern Auropian nations of similar size in joint short-term space programs, as well as using our industrial bases to build spaceship parts for other nations -- whose blueprints we are allowed to see and sometimes keep. We are hopeful that in the next 50-60 years, we would be exploring space further from our solar system. But time will tell."

"Aha! Greetings, gentlemen. Well, of course...Scientology does not receive much attention from the press here, because we do not think that they deserve it. I am not even sure how this thing works. So... not exactly enemies of our state, but perhaps enemies of the intellectual elites. Our own intelligentsia already forms a formidable coalition against everyone and everything they do not like. The state itself doesn't really have any measure specifically for getting rid of Scientology, but I have never seen a person surviving an argument with a member of intelligentsia except another member among themselves."

"Oh... You can't be serious, Mr. Dixon! Thank you to you, and to Mr. Bjorn as well. I will surely see if I can visit, perhaps when time is more compromising. Likewise, you gentlemen are always welcome to our nation, for a good drink with your comrades or a ride to the zones."

"There used to be a sort of wage gap, but now not anymore thanks to nationalization since in 2009. That was when the new pay rates were introduced, along with the new currency. The wages between men and women eventually came to absolutely equality within the implementation of the First Five Years Plan."

"This is Hacto Certibaeni Johanaco, President of Jitcaep Sep, speaking to Kazimir Ivanovich Miroslavsky, Chairman of Zitravgrad. As I know your opinion on nations which share similar ideologies, I must ask what your opinion of nations which do not share your view of the world is, such as Jitcaep Sep. As for our opinion of Zitravgrad, saying your nation is interesting would be an understatement, and would like to make an embassy once we are done restructuring our Department of Foreign Affairs."

(Kinda OOC but also kinda IC: I can't find this anywhere in your factbooks, so I will ask now: what is Zitravgrad's national language?)

"Greetings, my excellent gentleman. It does seem like Zitravgrad is a little secluded socialist nation, no? In truth, we are rather friendly to regimes that are... frankly... friendly with us and are able to overcome basic troubles like ideological or historical conflicts. We do not generally discriminate, and we are usually eager to work with nations whose goals are not clashing with ours. If we are clashing with them anyhow, we are willing to settle by peace. Of course, we are looking forward to see your embasy program."

Greetings, Esteemed Administration of Zitravgrad,

If one does recall, staff at The Black Party have asked sometime before for your administration's thoughts on the production of a video-game featuring conflicts in Zitravgradian history. The video-game in question has made a lot of progress overtime, and has come along way. However, one of the most eye-catching features of Zitravgrad for me is it's personification, and the Nightingale Medical Squad. Reading about their heroic bravery is quite impacting, and I would like to approach the ZItravgradian administration personally for their approval to feature them in respectable manner and context, in my upcoming "magnum opus".

With that being said, is there any chance that I can count on Zitravgradian approval?

Cheers!

Nattfjord, 14. 9. CMXCIII

Hej Feodora!

Long time no see! Summer's over so I'm back at my main palace in Nattfjord.

I always wanted to know, do your trains go on the left or the right? In Blodrike, all railways have at least two tracks that go in opposite directions. Forward travel is always on the left track, when facing the direction of movement. This evolved from our roads, where horse and carriage traffic must keep on the left side to prevent collisions. So it's only natural to have this rule for trains as well. In addition, the railways were built with a lot of English and French help, and those countries just happened to drive trains on the left so we copied them. That's why trains in Blodrike go on the left.

Also, it's been a while since your little girl was born. How is she doing?

Lots of love,
Frøya

"On the right. Most trains in Auropia run on the right, because the first railway in Auropian mainland started in the Portesen, Austerreichen Empire. Even if the idea of train came from Anglicia, people were more used to driving carriages on the right. Since Anglicia is an island nation unconnected from the mainland, Portesen did not care to consider about the connection between Trans-Auropian Railway with Angliacian Royal Railway. Once the first railways were built, it was already set that we would be running on the right, but the mistake here was that the engineers hired in overseeing the project came from Anglicia, so we had different gauge from the mainland. In 1800s, the Tsar at the time (Alexander Pavlovich I) planned to connect Kozavian Imperial Railway with this Trans-Auropian Railway, but this plan did not work completely because the gauges were different. People coming to Zitravia would have to change trains in Kasgalamov."

Quarta feria, XIX Septembris, Anno Domini MMXVIII

Greetings, Mr. Miroslavsky.

I am interested to know what is represented by your national emblem. Do the 8 points on that flower or star symbol represent 8 different ideas or values? And what does the acronym A. K. stand for – is it the abbreviation of a Russian phrase, or the initials of a historical figure?

The current Portuguese emblem was designed in 1970, when I replaced my father António Salazar as head of state. The new Ecclesiastical State government needed a symbol that would represent its glory and Christian faith, and so this emblem was adopted. In the centre is the Portuguese shield, with a pair of crossed keys representing the keys to Saint Peter's gates. Two angels support the shield on each side, and above them is a flaming heart symbol representing the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. There are two Latin inscriptions on the emblem: Nihil Sine Deo means "nothing without God", and IHS is an abbreviation for In Hoc Signo Vinces, or "in this sign you shall conquer".

Blessed be all,

Afonso Salazar
Lord Protector of the Ecclesiastical State

"Greetings, Mr. Salazar. I must call into your attention that it is a snowflake, the most innocuous snowflake ever. Well, I was exaggerating. But there is no meaning in it apart from it being snow. but the pentagon represents the Kremlin Walls. A. K. comes from "Administration Commission" which would be the group of people who wrote our new constitution. There are eight of them. I was not in it, but rather among the witness."

"I am happy to hear that you are doing fine! Rain is often a common sight of autumn, but there are few chances that rain and wind will get so heavy that they take the fallout particles from the wasteland zones. We get this a couple of times a year and it does not tend to spread that far. We deal with it with special paint that does not allow water to stick on surface, thus less fallout particles will stick on our buildings after the rain stops. Even so, we make our police check around their areas with Geiger so that they can clean up an area with contamination. But as we know it, if you got in contact with this rain and felt bad, you may go to the hospital."

It is unfortunate that a fair percentage of our population receives bare minimum of education. While they are literate, they do not receive higher education. But fortunately, they are capable of understanding the importance of vaccination that the Ministry of Health spends time and effort stressing."

Hello Mr. Miroslavsky,

What was the subject you enjoyed the most in school? What about the least?

I did not particularly enjoy school – I thought it was quite the waste of time to learn fancy literature or physics. And I often had arguments with my science teacher, about whether the Sun orbited the Earth or vice-versa (I stood firm with my belief that the Lord created the Earth and then everything else, so naturally the Earth would be at the centre of the universe). In the end I quit school and got a job doing what I loved most: teaching youth Sunday classes at my parish church. Was your experience of school different?

Lord Protector of the Ecclesiastical State

P. S.
Thank you for your question on fasting. After I researched the Orthodox doctrine, it looks like our practices are extremely similar.

Dear partners and scientific comrades from Zitravgrad.

Us at Humane Labs and Research would like to know the radiation measurements from both the limited access areas and the nuclear strike locations across your nation in order to evaluate if it would be "safe" to test some sort of [REDACTED] device that will likely expose some of our volunteers to likely similar if not equal or slightly higher levels of radiation. We expect a soon response.

''So... I have a question, Miroslavsky. Recently, our friend Cousineau went for a short trip to Flagstaff, Rockies, and he found a few... strange friends there, like Vulpes. Now not only Vulpes, but Cousineau himself is a bit strange- you probably have read the news already. What do you think about this mess, and what should I tell Tom?''

"Greetings, Mr. Salazar. It has been a while."
...
"Now that we are talking about our adolescent days like the aged gentlemen we are, I have to remind you that I received military education fit for an army engineer. During secondary school, I studied mathematics, physics, military science, foreign languages, technology, international laws of war and politics... and... philosophy, all topped with a severe physical training."
...
"I do not mean to boast but I particularly enjoyed and excelled at mathematics, which, however, was not as useful as it should be once I entered politics. On the other hand, I did not like philosophy classes and all the discussions about deeper meanings -- none of which was productive in my eyes. Then again, I think my liking for mathematical explanation is obviously at odd with philosophical way of questioning."
...
"By the way, I indeed have done a brief study and found that the practices of Orthodox and Catholic Churches are quite close to each other, which should be no surprise."

Greetings from the scientific relations department.

"Greetings... Interesting name. When something or someone advertises oneself as 'humane', I am inclined to believe that... it is not what it seems. As for the radiation level, please also refer to the map while reading the answer."

Image

[i]"Hereby, we shall use millisievert as the unit of measurement. (Some nations use sievert, but we remain that it does not offer great details.) The table above will also be a reference for the severity of radiation level in each zone."
...
"The range of radiation in our wasteland zones is from 150 - 4500 millisievert. The darker an area is on the map, the more concentrated the radioactivity. The yellow zones are relatively safe. RELATIVELY. Whenever we detect heavy gust of wind that can possibly take fallout particles from inside the orange and red zones to the yellow zones, the radioactivity level of the yellow zones may rise as high as 250, which is unhealthy in long term."
...
"Now once you step into the boundaries of the orange zones, you will have to go through inspection by the Wasteland Authority (please consult ZKVD's factbook). They are always wearing protective gears. There is no permanent resident in the zones. The radioactivity is around 150 - 450 millisievert, depending on the distance to yellow and red zones. The red zones require higher authority to sign your permit. It is dangerous, thanks to high concentration of radioactivity starting from 450 millisievert to nearly 2000 in missile landing spots, which will kill you within months. Moreover, mutants are a thing, even if we do not talk about it that much."
...
"Good stalking, comrades."

"Good day, Mr. Kirk. Yes, yes... you are asking exactly the question I had in my mind -- what on earth happened to Consineau? But then again, please listen to my amateur assessment. Mr. Consineau is actually not that old. He is still impressionable towards people and topics that match his interests. I don't really think there is much more to this than a man seeking to build his character. If it does not affect his work performance, then there should be no problem? Tell Mr. Thomas exactly this. Any good PC will understand."

Hej Feodora!

I have a physics question. This should be basic for you, but I've been losing sleep over it.

Do heavy objects fall at the same speed as light objects? Yesterday I had a conversation with one of my computers, and she told me that everything falls at the same speed, no matter the weight. This is new – I always thought something big and heavy would fall faster than something small and light. Since you're an expert on this stuff, do you think she's right or just messing with me?

Please help me out here!

"Hello... Yes... You are not being messed. All objects free fall at the same speed. The gravity pulls everything to Earth's surface at the same rate of 9.8 m/s/s regardless of the mass, provided that there is no air resistance. I emphasis on the word "free fall", however. At times, you might discover that shape and form of objects can affect air resistance and make things fall faster or slower."
...
"Think of papers. Paper balls of different sizes will fall at the same rate. But if you compare a paper ball and a sheet of paper, the sheet one will fall slower even if they have the same mass. This is because the air resistance."
