Im not sure, my first FT RP was much better than that, if I do say so myself

The Boarders in question and any good squad equipped for such an action would have "space suits", either light ones they use to get aboard or full fledged battle armor with their own air supply to counter a well known tactic such as this.

Yeah, I mean... The threat of being exposed to vacuum while even en route to a boarding action is so great that at the very least they should be wearing armored space suits. Even then, it's nearly impossible to vent every section of ship "into space" considering engineering. Then, sad as it is to admit it, the Doctor has a point that venting a section of ship into space might be a bad idea on account of needing the things in side of that bulkhead. Getting into a gun fight sucks, because ricochets also suck... Not to mention, gun fights are scary and you're essentially going to be shooting around those same essential systems you don't want to vent into space. I think riot foam is one of the better ideas, because you're just encasing the bad guys in insulation. That being said... If my ships are boarded, the boatswains arm up and repel it using firearms.

It is certainly possible to create a nation that lives a life totally in space.
However, it is almost impossible to make this a totally self-sustaining existence. Eventually some resource or another will run dry, and you will have to replenish it.

The rest of your post is equally invalid.

You guys don't have to like it, but UTA is actually not wrong all the time.

Now, on the actual topic of the hydrogen pumping, the problem isn't (and has never been) the hydrogen fire. That's dissipated quite rapidly (and exothermically). The issue is secondary fire. If you get things hot enough, things other than hydrogen and oxygen will start reacting, and that's a bad thing (TM). I don't pretend to know what magical chemicals II FT is obsessing over these days, but enough heat in satan's kitchen and goddamn near anything will react. The adiabatic flame temperature for H2 is something like 3500K, which is right up there around "ouch," so I'd take the "let's not play with quite THAT much fire" for 500$ please. I'd also go for the simple things like "not letting boarders get within a lightsecond in solid form," because MELT THEM FOR THE MELTING THINGS GOD is always a good decision.

what kind of ft civ can't defend a planet against meteors and comets?
The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that, in glory and triumph, they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of this pixel on the scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner, how frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds.- Carl Sagan

This is NS FT. Orbital assault drills occur before breakfast every day.

Or, you can have the best of both worlds and just... move your star systems around like a boss. Because really, unless you're at that kind of tech level, a nomadic tribe probably shouldn't be waving its dick around.

As for the rest of the discussion, CTL+F the rest of this thread, there are better horses to beat. Some even are alive.
NationStates remains an excellent educational tool for children. It can teach you exactly just how far people will go to gain extrajudicially what they could never gain legitimately. ~ Questers

I'd imagine third world FT nations like Telros, the Morningstar Coalition and the Systems Alliance couldn't really defend against planetary assaults. Mostly because they either don't have functioning governments, fleshed out planetary infrastructure... Or planets.
