Our officers are apt to do that..thats why we have to have so many Reservists and Warrant Officers do so much admin, and fly the more...mundane craft...cause every God damn fighter pilot is trying to get some combat experience, so they're the best man or woman on the roster.
Now, I KNOW thats terrible in terms of doctrine and tactics.

Your base may lose a good portion of your senior staff. Hell, it may be run by that K-Stan Captain for a while.

I wouldn't be suprised, I should probably be able to name some examples. (Unfortunately, I haven't studied up on much after 1990s military wise, simply because it's mostly larger countries picking on smaller, third world countries)
