Unibot: I appreciate it, thanks a bunch!

I do not mean to be rude, but exclusively for sake of precision, I would like to restate that ideally, I'd like utf-8/unicode to be accepted wherever possible, not only in currencies. My national animal could one day be called ċăŕłę, for example.

I can see why this might not be desirable for nation names (even though I wouldn't dislike that), but for everything else, it would add lots of customization possibilities at no price, unless a lot of work is required for this to be implemented.

Thank you again for your consideration.

Indeed it does. Much obliged.

Just for sake of curiosity, will it work with nation names as well?

No, it's not possible there with our current codebase.

If you wanted to see the drama of NS improvements unfold for itself, I'd suggest taking a look at the ol' NS World Improvements thread which sparked a NS-wide flurry of creativity and loveable innovation.

Legend has it that a well caffeinated young cap by the name of Unibot once postponed breakfast, lunch and dinner to read through all of the posts on that legendary thread.

However for those that opt not to read through dozens of muddled comments and ideas, here's a neat collection of them...

Actually Pyth explained to me very clearly one time why it isn't possible to do this.
Pyth wrote:The site's architecture makes this hard to do. It's about the same reason you can't just change your e-mail address and suddenly have everybody start using your new one. We'd have to change references to your nation all over the place, such as other people's telegrams, RMB messages, dossiers, forum accounts, the WA, some mod tools, and password recovery. And you'd have to change your name to something nobody has ever used before, or else you run into all the problems involved in releasing old nation names, too (which [violet] does plan to do, I'm fairly sure).

Yes, we could set up a redirect, like you would with a new e-mail address, but that would still require coding, and I'd still expect some bugs to pop up in some of the aforementioned areas.

I might just link it to that on the list for future reference.

I'd like to put in a suggestion that was made elsewhere that may have been misunderstood.

Would it be possible to either have a post-title as well as a pretitle (prefered option) or choose an option to have the title follow the name?

For example:
The [Confederated Cantons] of Daistallia 2104 [on Daistallia Prime]

Sorry, I don't follow, is this for the forums (you say "Post-title") ?

Heh

I see where that might be confusing. :) Nope, nothing at all to do with forum posts - "post" as after, on your nation page. Since the title you can add to the front of your name is a "pretitle", one added to the end would logically be a post-title, yes? Basically it'd be on your nation settings screen simply tacking an option box on after your nations name identical to the one before, or having an option for it to come before or after.

Right now we only have the pretitle: The [Confederated Cantons] of Daistallia 2104.
A post title might be: Daistallia 2104 [Confederation]
And both: The [Cantons] of Daistallia 2104 [Confederated]

Two suggestions:

1) Fix the 'Remember me' already
2) Remove the automatic quote pyramid.

That's the only thing I've heard that's wrong with it. Therefore, I declare it fixed.

In light of the news about removal of the three quote limit I have to reemphasize my second suggestion.

REMOVE THE AUTOMATIC QUOTE PYRAMID.

Right, a suggestion for improvement then:

Make the ignore list automatically block telegrams from the people listed there. What's the use of a list of foes if your foes can still come harrass you with private messages? :meh:

Don't know if this has been suggested before or not but in regards to the new options in the settings (Leader, Capital City etc) I am wondering if it is possible that in the homepage of each nation where people are able to read what the nations National animal and currency is that when we are given the option to update these new settings and when we do it goes onto the nations main page and remains there.

This is mine (snipped of course) to show where they are.

The Rchanian Imperial Capital of R539 is a massive, devout nation, ruled by Emperor Marcus Constantine with an even hand, and notable for its sprawling nuclear power plants.

It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Byzantium II.
[snip]
R539's national animal is the Snow Tiger, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is Combinationalism, and its currency is the Imperial Dollar.
