I don't see why.

"It would be neat" is generally not a good reason to pester administrators for technical changes. You need to be able to show that a given change will either 1) fix a problem or serious difficulty that players cannot easily solve on their own, or 2) provide a brilliant new way to enhance gameplay significantly without substantial drawbacks, while remaining true to the spirit of NS. And while not requiring the administrators to recode half the game or convert NS to a database system.

Maurepas wrote:Idk if this has been suggested already, but, It has occurred to me over the past few days that this would be a good function for NS, as I've sent several Telegrams, yet, not long afterwards I can't remember exactly what I sent(or if I had even sent it at all), and it would be nice to be able to look at a listing of what TG's I'd sent...

If you aren't sure if someone has made your suggestion yet, you can look through the first few posts in this thread. That's why it's called the big collaborative list of suggested improvements, not just a suggestion box. ;) The search function in your browser (probably ctrl + F) is handy if you don't want to read through each suggested change.

In this case, the answer is yes, and admins have said they want to work on it. See here: viewtopic.php?p=571694#p571694

May I suggest NS chatrooms. Well just one chatroom really. Just so big highlights may pointed out. Like a RMB but a WMB?

What about my idea? Why does it always get ignoired?

What about a Kalasparata tag? (Follow link in example tag)
And a button that'll get you from here Kalasparata to here. It should go both ways instead of just one!

Also, when wrighting a TG, there should be buttons to press for the tags such as:
[nation][/nation]

You've already posted this "idea". There is no need to continue to post it unless you have an aching desire to have the entire moderation staff discount your suggestion. You've made your original suggestion, now don't clutter up this thread by reposting something you've already posted.

Not going to happen. You can only get two issues per day because issues are given out during the updates and there are two of them per day.

How about a comments section on your nation page that you can choose to show or not and can delete comments you find unsatisfactory?

How about we shut down the game and you just do it in photoshop?
Now the stars they are all angled wrong,
And the sun and the moon refuse to burn.
But I remember a message,
In a demon's hand:

Fair and equal forum of forums

Postby Konohagykure » Fri May 28, 2010 2:52 pm

We have to realize people may not always have the time to check and post to forums and as long as aforesaid forum isn't racist or otherwise derogatory there should be no reason to remove it because some day someone may find it and want to post their insight or comments to it. Too many intresting forums get closed due to lack of posts..This would end that once and for all and give ALL a fair chance at posting on them. ;)

Making regional influence an NUMBER! It makes more sense than 'the delegate ejects the handshaker, he looses handshaker from his thing' makes more sence to have 'the delegate ejects a 143 nation and looses from 1,456 to 1,426 but only 1/4 was charged because it was only ejection.'

We don't want influence to be a visible numbers game. Influence titles are highly relative: a powerbroker in a small region could be just a minnow in a larger region with the same amount of influence. Keeping the numerical values of one's influence hidden was an intentional design decision.

Why not just make everyone happy and let each nation choose it's own influences and change them later if they wish rather than have it be set by the nation's region in question?

It would pretty much destroy the entire purpose and function of influence.

Oh, can WE have the power to lock and move our own threads. For example...

http://forum.nationstates.net/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=53919
A thread called "The Forum 7 High Council" that I would have locked because his executiveness asked me to desist

and countless ones where people said "this belongs in F7" when it was in General and I could have moved it.

By far the best idea would be so that only the original author of said forums could delete them unless they violate the anti racist rules or are otherwise derrogotory. That way everyone has a chance to post their comments even if it takes them a while to find your forum.

I don't believe that's physically possible with general BB coding. I'm by no means an expert coder, but (in my understanding) only certain user classes are able to lock/move/etc. threads. I have yet to see any forum setting that allows users to have these powers over their own posts - and no other posts.

I doubt it's doable. And I doubt that mods would want to bestow such a "power" even if they could.

The mods here are pretty responsive to (reasonable) lock/move requests. If you want a thread locked or moved, I'd suggest making a post in the moderation forum.

It's built into the standard permissions system of phpBB3. In my experience, though, prematurely locking your own topics, because you don't like how people are reacting, only makes things worse in other topics you're involved in. I wouldn't suggest adding this permission.

Ah, I think I've only worked with phpBB2 - I wasn't even aware that there was an "upgrade" available, so my apologies on the inaccurate statement in that regard.

But, yes, agreed regarding the premature locking.

I was wondering if it would be possible to include a national sport? Essentially the same as national religion and animal, but you need to get an issue that would allows you to pick the sport depending on which option you choose. With all the sporting events that have been going on this year, I believe it'll be something that would allow us to see another side of a nation's culture.

I also believe that the entertainment industry would be a possible industry that could be added. This would include everything relating to music, movies, television, video games, etc. Some nations could base their economies on the industry or be home to some entertainment giants.

It needs more than an issue. It requires modification to the code in order to include those items. Just writing the issue won't make the fields appear.
