The Miaphysite Church of Coptic Archism wrote:"Representative Diamantakos. I have said that no statements other than casting a vote or withdrawing and apologising for your statements will be allowed, with potential punishments for those who interrupt the proceedings. A vote of confidence in Niccolo Fallaci is currently occurring. I also note that you have not withdrawn or apologised for your statements and actions so far. You will immediately withdraw and apologise for your implications against Representative Fallaci, apologise for your purposeful dilatory actions or confirm that you did not understand that a confirmation vote was always going to happen, and apologise for your interruption of the ongoing vote. Any statement that is not what I have just requested will result in immediate expulsion. This is the one warning for all representatives who are considering interrupting proceedings."

ooc: Like Merizoc, I missed the call for a vote, but I'm regaining my foot-ing ;)
===

Miffed to the point of hellfire in his veins, Representative Xander Diamantakos asked for a printout of the Speaker's requirements of him, jotted some notes upon it with circled words, arrows and asterisks, a doodled dick picture with a huge X through it with the personal affirmation "be a prick not a dick," and when he was finished, he rolled over in front of the dais and stood up from his wheelchair on his one leg before the Speaker, locking eyes with her between quick intermittent glances at his notes. He relished taking on fights like this. But this wasn't so much a fight as it was an onerous game of Simon Says that he intended to win while throwing shade on it. Strains of Cypress Hill's "Ain't Goin Out Like That" pulsed in his mind's always bumping soundtrack.

"Madam Speaker, I believe your dress-down of somewhat contradictory requests of me requires a careful and considered parsing. Regardless, I shall endeavor to comply with your ad hoc decisions. I can not comply with all of them simultaneously, obviously, or immediately without some latitude to briefly further interrupt the vote. For that, I apologize. As for your immediate requirements, I choose to exercise your 'OR' clause to confirm that I did not understand a vote of confidence was always going to happen, and I apologize for that misunderstanding also entailing ignorance of the rather odd process that we are to vote without prior debate, which apparently is not just news to me, as a debate of sorts had already begun brewing before I joined it. I apologize that my debate extended into the time alloted to vote. I did not intend dilatory speech. I was caught up in the various side debates and unfortunately missed the call to order. You require an immediate apology, and the most immediate time is unfortunately now, during voting, so I will try to keep this short."

Xander hops on his one leg to stabilize his balance. He had thought about extending his arms and touching his nose like a sobriety check during the delivery of his apology, but decided on dignified scorn rather than outright mockery. He would comply, but on his terms. He wanted to mock the Speaker so much he could taste it. He would instead tread lightly but indignantly, maintaining his composure while holding the reins on his trademark sarcastic theatricality. She's not the Junta, and this isn't MTV, he thought, recalling his last exile for speaking his mind. He stiffled giggling about a clever but scrapped line that he had crossed out in his notes about somehow gaining out-of-control superhuman hypnotic powers over the thoughts of other Senators in the bombing, and instead played it straight behind an impish smirk.

"Madam Speaker, while I maintain that I never actually accused Niccolo Fallaci of participation in or endorsement of any crimes, or any of the other frankly absurd reimaginings of my questions into accusations, I will withdraw my remarks. Despite my stance that I believe the record will show that I did not express or imply any wrongdoing, or any rightdoing for that matter, in Niccolo Fallaci's past, a fact I reiterated several times during the apparently forbidden debate period, I desire to comply with your wishes to the letter. I would like to let it be known, again after again, and exasperationally so, that my questions were merely questions. I am no fan of 'trigger warnings,' but perhaps I should begin prefacing my remarks with them in the future. I apologize that my questions were perhaps misheard and misunderstood and robbed of their context to be recieved as negative implications about the President's nominee, and I regret my frustration and loss of decorum over the absence of time given to properly clarify them against such mischaracterizations. While I maintain that my only intentions were to express concern that the President refused to confer with me, my party, and likely a whole hell of a lot of other Representatives and parties about this nomination or its likelihood of gaining confidence out here in the real world outside the President's office, I withdraw my remarks from the extent to which they in the heat of debate they came to be perceived to be out of order, and express my apologies to Rep. Fallaci personally for any disrespectful direction my sincere questions may have inadvertently taken in this regretfully stunted process, particularly in regards to his fitness or lack thereof for an office over which he may find himself administrating a nation crying out for denied justice rather than a mere municipal division. My remarks are withdrawn, and while I regret my questions were everything but answered, I apologize for any undue discomfort and unintended harm the President's nominee may feel about his past being questioned."

Christ we know more about the creepy fish market-scented GPP guy from the news than that hack radical wishy-washyist, Xander fumed internally as he wobbled on one leg, and hops again to steady his footing. The only *actual* centrist party up in this beeyotch is the FIRE Party...Fallaci's "coalition" is so left-sided the fucking British want to drive cars on it...

"I believe I have complied with all of the Speaker's requests, thus hopefully soothing the Speaker's needs and nullifying any reasonable or rational grounds for expulsion. Please inform me at once if I missed something required so that I may immediately remedy it. Please. My remarks are withdrawn, my apology offered, as mandated."

Xander hops backwards and sits back down in his wheelchair.
He left out closing his mandatory apology with a mocking Roman salute and German "Heil, Speaker" but only because he had likely pushed back with just as much indignation as the Speaker would tolerate his refusal to be intimidated or humiliated.

On the vote to show confidence in the Prime Minister nominee Xander reaches back his pimp hand and comes down so hard on the button marked NAY that it coughs up a $10 bill

Speaker Samaras and one or two bureaucrats behind the dais were very carefully monitoring Representative Diamantakos's speech, and making the occasional note on paper. The Speaker had no intent of being deliberately harsh against the representative, nor particularly lenient, in this instance she was interested only in the right and correct course of action. As the speech was delivered she was a silent watcher, tacitly allowing the theater Diamantakos pulled during his withdrawal and apology. After he was finished, there was a beat of silence and stillness, and the Speaker silently motioned the Representative back to his seat, satisfied that the requested apologies and withdrawals were within the bounds of acceptability.

After the proceedings with Diamantakos were finished, the Speaker said "Representative Orhan Dervishi, who has left the chamber, will be considered expelled for a period of twenty-four hours, after which he may return."
