The EU Referendum voting period will open 15 hours from the time of this post. I will make another thread before that time, but it will not be right at the start of voting, so please be conscious about when you click "submit" in that thread.

It looks like the Character Database and the Democratic Party thread have been archived or something. In any case I'm getting "thread does not exist" errors when I try to access them.

Edit: oh, and the House of Tribunes one too?

That means they’ve been auto-culled by the F7 tool. They’re lost to the winds of time.

Speaking of which, and with voting on the EU Referendum now concluded as well, the admins want to get the community’s opinions about the feasibility and/or desirability of continuing (this iteration of) the RP.

Please post your comments in this thread over the next couple days.

So there's no getting them back? Sad.

Seems to me a good idea to start afresh then.

I think there needs to be a large waiting period, or a rebranding/restructuring of the NSG Senate for it to be viable in the future. We simply can't attract the numbers nor the activity of the Aurentina times right now.

I think those should have enough posts to escape being culled for the present.

I have loved this RP for at least a year, but it's just not working anymore. No one is active (you can see that from the number of responses here), and unfortunately I think it's time to end it. If it was plausible or worth it to continue it, we would, but it sadly isn't.

Alright folks, I have an important announcement to make but, before I get to that, how about a history lesson on the NSGS Senate. Since its founding in 2013 by Denecaep (the first Head Admin), the NSGS Senate has been through eight iterations, which were Aurentina (and its reboot!), Baltonia, Calaverde, Dagmar, Elizia, Fernão, and most recently, Galatea. For me, I started when Aurentina was kicking off, recruited by a Libertarian-like party and since then, I have been a member. Each iteration had its pros and cons, but most of us love and remember Aurentina, and one could argue that the RP's climax was in Calaverde.

However, as each iteration went on, activity and membership decreased. Naturally, we admins (both before and during my time as one) offered ideas, while also working with the community with your suggestions on how to innovate and improve the RP. While some of these ideas initially worked, they only worked in the short term, with most failing to increase activity or membership. This led to some within the community to question survivability of the RP. Those voices only grew louder as we progressed through each iteration, witnessing the decline in the RP.

Now, some of you want the RP to end, to preserve it for us to remember as something we once enjoyed. Others want to continue it, believing there is still hope and that it can be revived and continued. Naturally, the admin team has had individuals whose opinions on the RP's longevity have varied significantly. However, in the last few weeks, we have converged on the opinion that the RP should be ended and put on indefinite hiatus. As Head Admin, this was my final call, and it's the decision I have made.

I'm officially ending this iteration and announcing an indefinite hiatus for the NSGS Senate. Sure, it's possible we will return; maybe by reviving the name, re-branding ourselves, or starting up entirely something new but, not in the near future at least.

Most importantly, at least to me, is the fact I have made many friends here, learning from their ideals. Regardless of what you thought of me, I enjoyed being around everyone, something I didn't have years ago in my life. I believe that this RP played a factor in me opening up to others, growing more comfortable as the years went by. Some of us will still be in touch while others will drift away but the memories will stick around. Keep in touch, even if it is only a hello, and thank you all for your support over the years of making this RP enjoyable, it was a pleasure RPing alongside all of you!

We'll keep this thread open for a while so people can post here, recalling the memories they had (whether good or bad), reminiscing on their time within the RP. Afterwards, we will archive this thread to preserve it and its memories.

Zurk, I still haven't forgiven you and Reform betraying me when I was President of Calaverde. I only have bad memories of you as a result and you shall never be forgiven. Every night I stay up tossing and turning, thinking about my revenge. NSG Senate ending has deprived me of that. Apart from that, this was the right thing to do.

The NSG Senate is dead, but we've had some fucking good times whilst it happened. It's a shame it ended like this, and ended with so much personal animosity between everyone involved (of which I can take a lot of the blame), but let's remember the good times.

Finally, for everyone who grew up in the Senate (remember the thrill of ur virgin 15 year old asses joining the 16 club or whatever) and is now out in the big wide world I have two things to say (a) good luck (b) if any of you succeed, I am so leaking the IRC logs.

I agree, it's quite understandable given what transpired during those times and I don't personally blame you either. Your anger is justifiable, just don't leak them IRC logs of me, I'm already a successful person :p

I only joined in Elizia, but I've had some great times, great memories, and great friends here. Sad to see it end.

I remember the Liberal coalition in Elizia losing the confidence vote by one vote. One. Vote! I also remember the insane ending of Elizia, where there was rioting and battling in the Chamber. I remember the close presidential elections in Fernao (prez system trash) between the RGA and Civic Union. I had fun assassinating my senator in Fernao and blaming it on a far-right party. I enjoyed being the sole member of my regional separatist party in Fernao after I switched characters. I've had fun engaging in lively debate in the Chamber over time. Full disclosure, I was planning for the FDP to abandon the left and join the right this iteration, but it never happened.

I've had lots of fun in this RP, and I'll miss you guys. I hope we can keep in touch over the Discord. Thank you all, and farewell. My telegram box is always open, and I wish you all the best of luck.

A lot of what I can say about the Senate I've said before, but it bears worth repeating that the Senate provided me a social and political outlet during some of my most formative years, particularly my late teens, that I don't think any other community could have provided. Similarly, serving as Head Admin for nearly four years was formative for my ability to lead, in all forms, not to mention my luck to serve as coalition leader and president on multiple occasions. For those reasons and many more, I will always remember the Senate. It'll stick with me for a long time.

I didn't set up any personal communications with people during our time in the RP, but I'd like to keep in touch now. Shoot me a TG and we can talk.

You guys are the best.

I personally joined in the summer of the year Aurentina was founded, and stayed through Baltonia and Calaverde, and had a bit of activity here and there during the following iterations up to now, in Galatea.

I'm sad to see how this has all turned out, but I do sincerely hope that we, after a hiatus, can bring back the senate stronger, and better, and try and start it up better than we did this time.

Some of my best memories during my early teens were in Aurentina, and I can never replace the friends I have gotten in the Senate, both those who I still talk to now, and those who've fallen along the wayside due to them not being on NS anymore.

While I joined in late Fernao I have quite enjoyed both the RP and the people involved. It's pleasing to say that you all have kept this experience positive for me and I hope you all feel the same way. This was super fun.
