We also sell weapons to places like Romania and Serbia to counter the strength of places like Germany and Russia alike. Lymonian armaments, PMC, etc, supplier Ammunation is the primary company and is often selling its wares to places like Nigeria and Jamaica for slightly cheaper than usual to build a dependence on our military. Other major industries are mining, production, and private security.

Many people of course attempt to help these spirits set things right. Suggesting supernatural elements need dealing with in any way can give you a customary societally-imposed exile in most of Pilarcraft. the supernatural (Vampires, and Wargs in particular) are granted full equal rights in Pilarcraft.

Although it's 1898, we do have something that might be called 'the internet' by a stretch of the imagination. Home telegraph machines with projectors can connect to the 'World Encyclopedia', which is sort of like a really primitive version of Wikipedia.

Lethens and even some of their subjects are notoriously xenophobic. If vampires and whatnot were found in Letheny or any of the colonies they'd probably get killed by an angry mob or deported by infantry (whether this is for their own safety or because the infantry don't like them either is unknown). Human foreigners would get disdainful stares but would generally be left alone.

Ghosts here don't have any sort of monstrous appearance. They simply look like they were when they were alive, except white and transparent, and sometimes more youthful.

Our first and current Chairman Miroslavsky is somewhat photo-shy and has aversion to looking straight at the camera and taking photographs (but has no problem being recorded live or addressing a large crowd from a reasonable distance). As a result, he usually turns away or sideways when facing the camera. Ministry of Media and Communication had hard times trying to make a propaganda poster with him facing the camera directly and just went on with a picture of him turning sideways.

Due to Britain becoming increasingly authoritarian, America and Germany have been fostering closer relations. If trends like this continue, it's possible that WW1 in our universe (if it occurs) will have some of the great powers on completely different sides.

The last time Catalibla went to war was in 1866, when the dukes joined the Austrian Empire in the Austro-Prussian War. As you might guess, that ended badly, as the Cataliblan troops were slaughtered at the Battle of Königgrätz, forcing Catalibla to totally disband what was left of its army - Catalibla still lacks an army to this day, if one doesn't count the National Guard.
