These are termed civil defence shelters. Freeholders of land upon which a messuage is built, and where there is sufficient space, are required by law at build such a shelter, sufficient to contain 150% of the average number of persons in residence thereupon. Local parish vestries are required to also build shelters sufficient for the shelter of the rest of the population who have no access to private shelters. By law, such shelters must be maintained in habitable condition, and kept stocked with essential supplies. Every year, men from the Home Service conduct inspections of shelters, to ensure their suitability.
The telephone service in Great Nortend principally uses manual exchanges. This is due to Government policy to ensure that people have continued employment. Subscribers generally dial a number using a rotary dial, or dial 0 and then orally give the number to the operatrix. In either case, an operator is required to confirm receipt of the call, record the call, and actually connect the call. An average public telephone call is twopence.

The National Assembly of Quebec employs a government office with the title of "Lead Conductor." The Lead Conductor is responsible for managing the Quebecois National Orchestra. They play classical music for all of the Government's assemblies. The government is not allowed to convene without them, and should any of the orchestra members fall ill and cannot be replaced, the government assembly must be postponed. Currently the office is held by 31 y.o. Romalov Landry, who is considered to be one of Quebec's greatest musical prodigies.

Almost all of the Electors are adults if not seniors and tend to be practical though noble folks. Not anything like your "idealism supreme" idea. The only idealism they partake in is the domination of Kyria over all other nations and the global adoption of sun-worship.

Even then, it seems too perfect for a conflict, and thus plot points to develop. Just throwing out "we are utopian" without an explanation just seems kinda lazy imo. Try being utopian, but not too utopian.'
AN: I think you underestimate the role of rl women in medieval times. There's Joan of Arc, Tomoe Gozen, even Timun Mas. Either way, it's nice to know you have female characters who actually do something.
While Amenria's world seems like a sugarbowl utopia, there are some things that might be exploitable for fridge horror or nightmare fuel. For example, the ability of vampires to temporarily "borrow" someone else's powers by drinking enough quantities of their blood. With the world being filled with vampires who act like normal people, this shouldn't be a problem, right? Now, what if one particularly bad vampire manages to drink enough blood from Tianshi to not only gain his powers, but kill him too? Not only will said vampire be crazy powerful, but there won't be anyone tough enough to stop him/her.

The total number of women in medieval times who participated in battles and were famous enough to have their names written can be counted on two hands at most. The period is around 700 years worth of time in a continent that at any given time had hundreds of millions of people. I'm not really underestimating the role of rl women in medieval times lol.A m e n r i a wrote:AN: I think you underestimate the role of rl women in medieval times. The majority of the Technocracy's population don't have 'natural' origins. Rather, they're born in lab tubes on traveling space crafts to habitable planets and are raised by the Scientists and Child Care Specialists on board. Each child is given tests as they age to determine their best career path. Once the planet they are to colonise, or to move to to keep that star system's efficiency in tact, they are assigned work based on their skills test. Many of these lab made Humans go on to become biological parents themselves, either with 'Natches' (Natural born Humans) or 'Labbites' (Lab made Humans). Collectively, because the Technocracy's an Academic-centred authoritarian state, Humans generally don't see each other different as we all carry the same genetic makeup that makes us the same species.
However, there is a stereotype that Labbites, like the Biomechanical human lookalike Taloans, are very attractive since, like Taloans, Labbites are specifically designed to be the way they are so Labbites are more likely to be attractive, healthier, and better cognitive abilities the same way Taloans are Biomechanical species that very closely resemble what Humans 'wish' the average Human would look like.
