She then faced another man, who seemed a little off, but so did almost everyone in the Saloon in some way.

”Oh! Thanks! Nice to meet you! I’m Gikochinai! I try to always be happy! I can’t do it every second sadly, but that’s ok! I still try and can do most of the time!”

"Fair enough." 'A little off' was an understatement with Zero-Two.

With Gwen and the good Holly making their way back to Valentine Z, another light-blue light-woman entered the bar and this time, she has no restraints and issues with bringing the entire temperatures down to -5 degrees Celsius. "Don't worry, your erect nipples will make things more fun for me, habib." Mehmet joked.

"But, master, in these temperatures, I might die or get frostbite, then I won't be very pretty and how you like me, right?" Zara said with a nervous smile, being replied with a laugh and then a backhand that sent her to the floor.

"Comfort women, side bitches and inferiors like you do not deserve the warmth of anything other than a good rough congress. Now be quiet before I hit you again." Mehmetr said as Zara replied with a tearful smile as Mehmet turned to Holly.

"Ah, new guests! Merhaba, my friend!" Mehmet said, laughing aloud as he extended his hand. "Sultan Mehmet Osmanli of the Ottoman Caliphate."

"Really? When were you created?" The robot curiously asked. "I'd assume you'd have been around for quite a long time to hone skills such as yours."

"Created? I'm 21. I have a pretty serious case of amnesia though, gotta say." Zero-Two replied.

"Maybe familiar sights and smells can refresh your memory. That's what I understand about mental issues based on that regard anyway. But, hey, I was built for combat, not mental health." the archer robot said.

Hah, well let's see... I am a parallel to Holly, but as most of the stories goes, I am her evil counterpart. Not that I made that choice, but hey, I was trying to be nice to people, you know? Maybe let them into my dimension, talk to them about the wonders of it, it goes on... then these morons attacked ME! They brought fire into my place despite my warnings, and had the nerve to burn my treehouse down! I cried for a few days, then I built an even bigger ice palace and trapped my enemies, then freeze them to death! It's pleasing to me... to see them frostbitten, blisters forming, and pleading me and apologising to me to no effect.

Gikochinai reflected for a moment. Some people were cruel. Hideously so. Yet she couldn’t hope but realise how unfair it was. From what she could interpret, this Holly had been attacked by a group of people, and had killed them. As sad as it was, as much as she disliked it, Gikochinai could understand.

Aozora did it.

Kurushimi did it.

Naosu did it.

One more thought in that constant stream of reflections lingered in the back of her mind, but she refused to let it reach the forefront. She didn’t want to go back there any more than she already had.

”I think it’s a bit unfair to go after everyone for something only a few people did! A lot of people are good people!” She smiled. ”Also, I know you mean well! You just want people to be happy and you to be happy and not have people attack you, right? But people who want to take over everything...I don’t think they’re ever really happy. They just want more and more things! And I think they can go too far even if they start from a nice place!”

Even as she spoke those words, she had an image of her mind of a woman of ice, playing with her victims, freezing them in place as they begged to escape only to be left trapped in place, unable to resist whatever fate awaited them. She saw that image from the perspective of the woman, the one creating the cold and doing as she wished.

That was the way she had experienced it, after all.

The more graphic description of demise reminded Gikochinai of old times. Why could she never escape them? Aozora had never been one to do that. Imaple, she would. Carve with her scythe. Burn and leave the brain intact fo be left in a prison to suffer for all eternity. But she would never defile bodies. Never come anywhere close to making any kind of love to anyone in any way.

That was my job.

Bliss. Joy. The utmost compassion and love. That was what she’d wanted. And she’d obtained it and indulged in it, even when she knew it was wrong,. Was it her fault? Did that matter? No. She’d still been the one to do it. How many had suffered for her joy? Perhaps that was the saddest part. Most of them hadn’t suffered. Most of them had considered it a blessing. Children, deluded into believing they were serving a valiant cause, that this was natural, that this was supposed to happen, before they marched off to their deaths.

The sadistic grin the Sultan held was not Gikochinai’s old smile. There was a key difference between one who simply wanted bliss and one who who simply wanted revenge. She knew so many smiles. Her own of joy and of sadness and of excitement snd of anxiety, all smiles. Naosu’s faint smirk concealed behind a surgical mask, when her experiments reached perfection at last. Kurushimi’s wild grins as the ecatstsy she derived from agony overtook her. Aozora’s sadistic smile as she’d tortured and reshaped all those around her, reveling in their suffering. Gikochinai had only wanted happiness for everyone.

That didn’t excuse anything.

She took the book, and started reading a little of it. A friend beyond death, he said? Sounds appeared in her mind. Shouts about glory. ”In Her name, we shall have victory. There is no freedom, there is only death. Serve your purpose well in life, and you shall be rewarded with an eternity of gratitude and bliss, for there is no greater service than obedience and total devotion to your goddesss.” Was that what this was? A document of lies to convince people to die for a cause so they could supposedly get rewarded after?

”Thanks! I’ll try read through it!” She still smiled, her voice still cheerful.

She didn’t wish to show any semblance of uncertainty even as she trembled within, worried she’d be unable to contain all this emotion forever.

She turned to Holly, and focused on that instead of her drifting thoughts. ”Oh! I like the cold sometimes! But I get worried when people try to take lots of places over still! I know people who have tried that before, and it’s kind of really sad!”
