After showing glee that the Senate wont do another first reading, President Carvallo hit his gavel two times before he spoke.

"Mister President, I rise to commend the two honorable nominees, and condemn the President of this Republic for nominating a communist to one of the high offices of state.

Communism has only served to cause poor living conditions and class warfare that threatens the stability of a nation and divides its people to the point of vicious and dangerous strife. I urge all of my venerable colleagues to stand firm against the communist tide which threatens to Swamp Fernão.

Thank you, Mister President."

"Mr. President, may my honourable colleague please specify exactly what form of communism she speaks of? As we've seen in history, no real communist state has ever existed; only forms of authoritarian socialist/marxist-leninist regimes. To add to my question, does she refer to this form of authoritarian socialism, or to one of the many variations of communism, such as: marxism, trotskyism, maoism, neo-maoism, dengeism, juche, titoism, anarchist communism, eurocommunism..."

Viel stops talking, but one of his aides continues to read from the list, only to faint a few minutes in due to lack of air.

"Hear, hear! Mister President, the world has never actually seen the results of communism, making my Honorable Colleague Senator Tamboli's argument invalid. She cannot argue that communism leads to poverty when no country has ever been communist, as Senator Viel noted.

"Mister President, I rise in full support in all three of the president's nominee's. These nominees will be wonderful for Fernao and their departments, and they will be great progress in our nation if the rest of the cabinet is as good as this."

Mr. President,
I support all of these nominees. I have incredible confidence in our soon to be Secretary of State, and applaud the President for welcoming his electoral opponents into government in the name of unity for our fledgling democracy. With regards to the "communist issue", I see the appointment as just another part of the quest towards unity. Communist and socialist groups were some of the first to take up arms against our former dictatorial government, and many, including this respectable nominee, have shown loyalty to the people of Fernão. We must not resort to fear mongering over a communist hostile takeover which simply will not happen.

"Mister President, Senator Tamboli's argument is not the least bit invalidated by my other colleagues remarks. Simply by the fact that there has been no actual communist state is a testament to its failure. Every state that has tried to achieve communism has turned into a dictatorship or similar government. The Soviet Union, Cuba, the Eastern European satellite states, North Korea, Pol Pot's regime, every single one of them tried to achieve this true communism and became failed states that killed their own citizens. We do not need that kind of system in Fernao where we have only recently overthrown a dictator. We must reject a candidate that believes communism would ever result in a way forward to a better Fernao." spoke Senator Dannon in support of his colleague Senator Tamboli.
