"To begin, I protest earnestly the unapologetic infringement of the free market in sections 1 and 2. For what purpose are there for multiple tobacco companies if there are all regulated into virtual sameness? The basically total prohibition of advertisement, even through mediums like the Internet, compounded with the entire restriction of product, is completely outrageous and characteristic of an authoritarian regime. I cannot believe this bill's intention is to protect citizen health when it makes no mention of the product: size, contents, nothing. It is the suppression the free market that I find offensive. It is in more-alignment with the author's apparent intention to propose to nationalize the tobacco industry.

Also in section 2, I fail to see the purpose of requiring business owners to "hide" their tobacco products. Honestly, is it supposed to be a hide and seek game? Only customers that can find what tobacco products the government hasn't banned or regulated into nonexistence get to buy the product? It's, again, outrageous.

I haven't even gotten to my biggest criticism. The prohibition of the commercial sale of e-cigarettes. This, frankly, comes out of nowhere. While the rest of the bill included clauses I found disagreeable, this is particularly outrageous. E-Cigarettes are better for people than tobacco cigarettes and certainly tobacco cigars. Again, the intent of this bill is clearly not to improve citizen health.

I cannot stand here and claim to represent my constituents best interests while voting for this bill. Thus, I am in complete opposition to the bill in its entirety. I would welcome a lighter regulation on tobacco companies."

"Order, order."

"We now have a new bill - the Free Questions Act, by Sen. Abraham Kamassi. Do note that immediately after debate on this bill finishes, there will be a 48 hour period for voting on the acts discussed this week."

Free Questions Act
An Act to Force the Government to Write Some Goddamned Bills

Author: Abraham Kamassi (Maklohi Vai | Labour)
Sponsors: Linanto Aiguo (Davincia | LDP), Raharjo Iskandar-Bambang (Arkolon | EF), Sayid Kasturi (Argentarino | LDP), Thu Tran (Arachaea | SLP), [Osea 767 | NWP]

Recognizing that upon the exhaustion of the legislative queue, the legislature of Elizia sits dormant with no particular task,
Believing that the legislature ought to maximize its productivity,
Noting the duty of the government to govern the country through its promotion of legislation, and
Reaffirming the belief that the government ought to be held accountable for this duty,

1. Upon the exhaustion of the legislative queue, a modified Question and Answer period is automatically invoked, with the following provisions;
a) The period shall last until the next item enters the legislative queue;
b) Questions must be directed to the government as a whole, or to members of government;
c) Each non-governing party shall be allotted two questions, regardless of coalition affiliation;
d) Each independent, unaffiliated member of the legislature shall be allotted one question;
e) Questions are required to be answered by a member of the government, even if that member is not directly addressed by the question, within 72 hours, regardless of the length of the indefinite Question and Answer period.

"I support this bill. My constituents consistently send me questions about the government, and I don't really have a way to answer them, so a session where I can present their questions to the government would be very useful for doing this." Thu Tran, of the SLP, states, while reorganising the e-cigarettes that she had put on the desk.
