Filimons wrote:“Honourable member, what are your priorities in view of Elizia’s current situation? What do you hope to accomplish in the first days, weeks and months of government?”

Obviously, the most pressing matter is the creation and the introduction of a constitution for Elizia, one with Democracy at its heart. We need to ensure that the horrors of the past under the ENC can never be repeated again, and that we as a nation can march on into the future without the fear of oppression returning to our nation. Then, we need to open ourselves to the world, and encourage investment from both the rest of the world and from Elizian businesses, and the government must try to build a new Elizia, open for business, so that our economy can be improved. I also wan to bring in a National Insurance Scheme as soon as possible, to help ordinary Elizians, to help the poor and disadvantaged. We need to protect the rights of working people and businesses, and so providing some level of a saftey net - in return for payments into the scheme - will help this, along with the introduction of a minimum wage. It is about balancing the needs of both the rich and the poor, so that we all can prosper.

Sa Ri An - Chinese Interests Party
Image

Account Name: The Sarian
Occupation: Senator
Party Position(s):
None

Positions in Government:
None

Constituency: North Jinyu Island West
Political Ideology: Republican, Social Conservative, Maoist

Family: Unmarried.
Background:
Sa Ri An was born on the 3rd of March, 1953 in what was then British controlled Elizia. Growing up in poverty, her father was a fisherman on North Jinyu Island whilst her mother worked as a maid for a wealthy English family, who were major landowners. Her father died when Sa Ri An was just two years old.

Growing up, Sa Ri An befriended the daughter of the family her mother worked for. Though initially concerned with their daughter associating herself with a native peasant girl, the English family soon grew to love Sa Ri An, and she received constant gifts from them growing up. For Sa Ri An, however, the greatest gift they gave her was an education and from the age of seven she received private tutoring. This revealed Sa Ri An's natural intelligence, and she gained a reputation by being the only child of Chinese or Malay origin in her village who could read. In fact, reading was one of Sa Ri An's great passions, and by thirteen she had read the entirety of the English family's library, ranging from the complete works of Shakespeare and Dickens to travel books and medical and legal journals. She also spoke five languages fluently - Malay, Mandarin, Cantonese, English and French.

However, at the age of 14, some ten years after Elizia gained independence from Britain, the family decided to move back to Britain. Though this initially looked like it would stunt Sa Ri An's growth, the family offered to take Sa Ri An and her mother back to England with them, retaining the family as house servants. On arrival in England, Sa Ri An and the English families daughter were enrolled in Cheltenham Ladies College. After graduating with 3 A-Levels, Sa Ri An read Jurisprudence at Oxford University, studying at the all-female St Hilda's College.

Whilst at University, Sa Ri An became increasingly Marxist in outlook, and whilst she was grateful for what the English family had done for her, she saw it as a great injustice that they lived in such wealth through inherited money whilst her mother remained poor - despite working her whole life. Sa Ri An also became involved in green movements, though mostly dedicated herself to putting pressure on the British government to help Chinese and Vietnamese ethnics in her homeland of Elizia. Additionally, Sa Ri An continued her gift for languages - learning Arabic, Vietnamese, Filipino, Russian and Latin, as well as having a grasp of both ancient and modern Greek.

After graduating with a first, Sa Ri An went on a gap year to Nicaragua, where she lived and assisted in a rural village. This subjected her to the poverty she had seen growing up in Elizia, and reinforced her increasingly Maoist views. She also learnt to speak Spanish fluently, and on the back of this learnt Italian and Portuguese. Whilst she was in Nicaragua, her mother passed away.

It was initially Sa Ri An's plan to train as a barrister following her gap year. However, what she saw as systematic and institutional sexism and racism blunted this ambition, and she instead moved to China, attending the China University of Political Science and Law, taking a postgraduate course in Chinese Law before moving back to England to complete an LLM in International Law at the University of Westminster.

On completion, Sa Ri An moved to Guangzhou, where she worked for the Chinese government as a lawyer in Public International Law. She retained this job until 1991, gaining a reputation as one of the premier experts on International Law in China. As such, she was invited to become a professor of law at the China University of Political Science and Law, where she lectured on Public International Law. During her time at the University, Sa Ri An completed her doctorate.

In 2000, Sa Ri An was appointed as the Chinese Ambassador to the Benin and on completion of her posting in 2003, she elected to move back to her country of birth, moving to the capital of Kentang. However, this was short-lived after constant racial abuse from the cities Malay majority, which increased as ethnic Chinese attacks against the Elizian dictatorship (which Sa Ri An openly supported) continued. As a result, Sa Ri An moved back to China in 2004, became the Ambassador to New Zealand in 2005, the Ambassador to Vietnam in 2006 and in 2010 she became the Chinese Ambassador to the United Kingdom.

In 2013, Sa Ri An retired from the Chinese Diplomatic Corps and moved back to Elizia, joining the Chinese rebels as a senior adviser. Soon afterwards, she became the de-facto Foreign Minister for the rebels, lobbying foreign governments for both official and unofficial support - both financially and otherwise and on the formation of the National Council for Democratic Salvation, she became a senior member.

Sa Ri An led the NCDS delegation at the December Peace Accords, and is one of the signatories, gaining praise from the way she conducted herself. In April, 2016, Sa Ri An announced that she was taking exploratory steps to putting herself forward as a delegate to the upcoming Constitutional Convention and after receiving popular support, she put herself forward to the electorate of western North Jinyu Island, the place where she grew up.

Once a Senator, Sa Ri An gained a reputation as a fiery speaker and has a number of clashes with fellow Senators. Upon being appointed Deputy Speaker, Sa Ri An generated controversy for perceived partiality despite neutral observers agreeing that this was simply political hyperbole on the part of her opponents. In September 2016, Sa Ri An was shot whilst leaving her constituency office and was pronounced dead on the scene.

  • Lucy de Sauvage (née Lucy Kim Chun Oy, Chinese: 金真爱, Pinyin: Jīn Zhēn'ài, born 25 January 1988)
  • Philip Kim Chun Sin (Chinese: 金真信, Pinyin: Jīn Zhēnxìn, born 30 May 1992)

Background: Louis Kim Choo Kai (Chinese: 金祖皆, Pinyin: Jīn Zǔjiē) was born in Baragang on 29 December 1958 to Doris Wee Lee (née Wooi Wee Lee, Chinese: 韦伟丽, Pinyin: Wéi Wěilì, born 20 May 1925) and Frederick "Freddie" Kim Shi Siong (Chinese: 金自颂, Pinyin: Jīn Zìsòng, 8 August 1919 - 15 September 1998), a successful merchant. Both of his parents are of Hakka ancestry. Louis's patrilineal great-great-grandfather was a Kaifeng Jew who converted to Catholicism and married a Hakka woman before immigrating to Elizia. Louis's family often had to move back and forth between Baragang and Hong Kong because of war and political instability, first moving during the Japanese occupation of Elizia during World War II and then during the late '60s as conditions for the Chinese and other non-Malay groups worsened. With his retail business no longer a reliable source of income due to multiple relocations, Freddie expanded his business from retail sales to transportation, later becoming a major shipping magnate in the South China Sea. Louis previously attended Catholic parochial schools in Baragang, but the relocation to Hong Kong had him attend the King George V School. He had one elder brother, Alexander Choo Kong (Chinese: 金祖光, Pinyin: Jīn Zǔguāng, 17 July 1951 - 4 April 1972), who chose to stay behind and attend university in Baragang to monitor shipping operations in the region, but was murdered by the ENC regime for his ethnicity and previous vocal support of Barisan Elizia. His death deeply affected the Kims and inspired Louis to go into public service in order to stop more deaths. After graduating from KGV, Kim earned an LLB from the London School of Economics and later a Master of Arts in International Relations from Sophia University in Tokyo. It was here where he met his future wife, Jane, who was studying management as an undergraduate. Jane, who came from a family of wealthy coal mine owners, married Louis in Tokyo shortly after his graduation. After working in Tokyo for two years, which allowed for Jane to graduate, they relocated to Baragang. The Kims relocated at a time when the Elizian economy appeared to be on the path to recovery. In addition to his income from working as a barrister, Louis received very substantial dividends from his stake in his father's company, Coral Marine Logistics, while his wife ran regional operations. Jane's work was eyed with suspicion in the very conservative environment of Elizia, but she still ran CML's regional operations exceptionally well. Along with the rest of Elizia, the economic crisis and increasing violence changed fortunes for the Kims. The Kims sided with the Chinese rebels and helped finance them. He originally thought that Kenyalawak should secede from Elizia and form a majority Chinese nation, but when the National Council for Democratic Salvation was formed, he supported remaining in Elizia instead. Kim was one of the signatories of the UN ceasefire, representing the NCDS. Under the UN administration of Elizia, Kim found the Federalist Party (Malay: Parti federalis, Chinese: 聯邦黨, Pinyin: Liánbāngdǎng), which advocates for a new civic national culture and federalism.

With his wife, Jane, Louis has two daughters and one son. Mary, their eldest daughter, attended St. Stephen's International School in Rome and the American University of Paris, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Global Communications with a minor in Art History. She married Raja Khalid Sultan Musa, Crown Prince of Kenyalawak, eldest son of Sultan Musa III, and converted to Islam prior to their marriage, taking the name Fatimah binti Luis. They have two sons, Raja Azlan Iskandar ibni Raja Khalid and Raja Musa Yussuf ibni Raja Khalid. Lucy, the Kims' younger daughter, attended River Valley High School, Singapore, and the National University of Singapore, earning a Bachelor of Engineering in Industrial & Systems Engineering and an MBA. She married Sylvester William de Sauvage, heir to the Sauvage Automotive fortune, in Kentang. They have two children, Kenneth Alexander de Sauvage and James Louis de Sauvage. The Kims' only son, Philip, attended St. Albans School in Washington, D.C., Georgetown University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service, and the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, where he earned an MPA this year. He will be commissioned into the Elizian Army shortly. The Kims speak English at home.

Any Questions from the Public to be answered?: Yes, and I am open to more.
  • How should ethnic tensions be resolved? - Elizia is a multicultural nation and has been for quite some time. While difference should be celebrated, there must be some unifying factor. English needs to supplant Malay as the national language. People should be educated both in English and their respective culture's mother tongues in order to form a more unified national identity while at the same time preserving their old one. Singapore provides an excellent model for this. However, Elizia is much larger in terms of both land area and population, not to mention separated into several islands with different concentrations of ethnicities. There must be national standards for education that promote this new Elizian national identity.
  • What are your stances on government structure? - Elizia should remain federal. The fact that Elizia is a multicultural nation based around an archipelago makes a unitary government both impractical and unfair to its inhabitants. While there should be an all-encompassing Elizian national culture, the differing needs of our cultures as well as other regional differences must not be overlooked.
  • What is your stance on affirmative action? - While the Chinese and other minorities have been subject to heavy discrimination and violence by the Malay-led government and that problem must be remedied, affirmative action would just cause more problems than it would solve. If the Malays are denied opportunities that would otherwise be available to them without affirmative action, they will feel just as disempowered as they were under British rule and either elect the ENC back into power or install it in a coup. Elizia's wounds have only just started to heal. We do not need to open them again.
  • Should Elizia be a republic or an elective monarchy like Malaysia? - Personally, I believe that the monarchy would be a better solution. While all of the subnational rulers are Malay, they could be used to create a new civic national identity around figures who would be politically neutral in theory. An executive presidential republic would require one person to approve or reject all of the laws passed by the legislature. Since this person would most likely be of only one ethnicity, the other ethnicities would feel disenfranchised and cause more uprisings.
  • What currency should Elizia use? - The Elizian dollar must be stabilized. We have to be able to control our own currency if we are to recover economically. Our population currently has no choice but to use either Malaysian ringgits or American dollars, neither of which Elizia has any control over. We will have to continue using these currencies for several more years, but there will come a point when the ability to control our own economy with our own stable currency is absolutely necessary. The Elizian dollar should be reintroduced and temporarily pegged to the US dollar before letting it float.
  • How should Elizia's economy recover? - Elizia must further expand its industry. Subsidies and tariffs are necessary to allow our industry to grow enough not only to recover our economy, but for it to thrive. We must follow the example that many of our neighbors have set and become an export economy. Elizia should consider lowering its other taxes to encourage foreign investment and possible immigration of well-off people looking to bear less of a tax burden than their countries of origin. Recognizing the People's Republic of China over the Republic of China would also help boost investment. Boosting tourism should be a top priority for the next government, as well. However, the current state of the nation is unstable due to ethnic tension and poverty. The ethnic tension can be resolved by promoting a new, inclusive form of nationalism in Elizia.

Senator Kim is open to questions from the public.

Arkolon wrote:Question to all Senators: What is your opinion on Elizia's debt to the IMF?
"It is a heavy burden, but it is one that Elizia can bear. While I plan to introduce a basic welfare state to Elizia, we still cannot afford a welfare state that is as extensive as many in the West, especially with the debt we owe to the IMF on top of all of the government's other obligations. Times will be hard, but we have suffered through much worse already. We must have a stable economy before paying off any debt owed to the IMF, so we must work toward not only stabilizing it, but making Elizia prosperous in the process. Reduce corporate and personal income tax rates to encourage foreign investment, reduce regulatory burdens on manufacturing, and put import tariffs in place in order to develop our industry further and have a dynamic economy."

Proposal for another neighborhood in Baragang.

Kyashwe
Image

Account Name: The New Sea Territory
Elected Representative: [N/A]

Population: 21,500
Ethnic Composition:
88% Chinese
5% Indian
5% Malay
3% Other

Background: Kyashwe is a poor, working-class neighborhood on the far northern side of Baragang, which sprang up after predominantly Chinese Elizians moved from the countryside to work in the factories in the mid-1900s. These factories were notorious for pumping toxic waste into the waters near the neighborhood. This waste and the government's negligence coupled with its Chinese majority made Kyashwe a thorn in the government's side, prone to start wildcat strikes, industrial sabotage and mass demonstrations escalating into riots.

The economic crashes hit the neighborhood harder than most of Elizia, with nearly a third of its population unemployed. During this time, a number of large scale squats were started in abandoned apartment buildings along Sumner Street, some of which are still inhabited. Police attempted to crack down on the growing squatting scene, along with a sharp rise in crime, especially looting during riots. In response, a police station was burned down in 2011, resulting in increased tensions between police reinforcements brought in from other neighborhoods and locals. The neighborhood threw up barricades in revolt during the Orchid Revolution, and since then has been a breeding ground for radical left-wing political groups.

Kyashwe has numerous Buddhist temples, two Hindu temples, 1 Mosque and 1 Catholic Church, along with a disproportionately large irreligious population. It also has a few small parks, which have served as community centers during times of political turmoil. These parks also host (technically illegal) community gardens, which grow fresh fruit and vegetables available to to anyone in Kyashwe. The neighborhood has two local newspapers, Kyashwe Daily and The Struggle.

Religion:
49% Buddhist
47% No Religion
2% Hindu
2% Other

Constituency: Ethnic Chinese living in the northern islands
Political Ideology: Ethnic Chinese Nationalism/seperatism

Family: Asako Dai ( Wife ) - Ping Lu Dai ( son ) - Kim Ro Dai ( son ) - Seita mi Dai ( daughter )
Background: Chang Wu Dai was born in 1964 to a family of prominent Chinese people on the Island of Kenyalawak. His family were among the more conservative members of society, and thus, Chang was given a very formal education in not only the sciences, but in Buddhism, philosophy, and as family tradition, survival in nature. Chang's family, in line with their conservatism, was vocally in favor of succession from Malaysia. in the initial years of the independent, life was rather good, and the family enjoyed a level of respect from the local government. However, as the ENC began to clamp down on Chinese merchants, the Dai family came under serious amounts of harassment. Chang, although still young, was able to understand what was happening to his family and that it was wrong. Despite the harassment, the Dai family would continue leading their village with relative safety for quite some time. In 1985, Chang would move to the Republic of China ( Taiwan ), where some of his family lived. While there, he would find to relax and, as he called it, " find himself ". He would come into contact with the full origins of his Chinese culture, and with it, he would harbor a deep hatred towards the Peoples Republic of China. In 1987, after reading into the influences of Buddhism on Chinese history, his mind traveled towards his religion. He would travel to Nepal, where he would travel to numerous Buddhist shrines and holy sites. For a time, Chang contemplated becoming a monk , and serving at any one of the monasteries which he traveled. However, after the Tianamen square massacre, he realized that he couldn't only live for himself as a monk. He would move back to Elizia later that year. He would help out his father in managing the village, which he had found was in a much more decrepit state from when he had left it. Continued government harassment had led to deteriorating conditions. For a time, things were relatively peaceful, even enjoyable. It was around this time that Chang found his wife, Asako, and the two were married in 1991. In 1996 however, Chang's brother Xhu, was arrested by the government under charges of suspected treason. While Chang's brother was incarcerated, the Asian economic crash hit hard on Elizia. It would be a year before Xhu was realized from prison, now a much different man. In 1999, with ever deteriorating conditions, and with constant police harassment, Chang formed in secret the " Kenyalawak Army ", with several members of his fathers village. It was an anti-government cell, which dedicated itself to the protection of Chinese majority villages on Kenyalawak. In 2000, Chang's father died, giving him control over his home village. through out the early 2000's, the membership of the Kenyalawak Army would grow to 200. With the government defaulting on it's debt several times, the situation On Kenyalawak became dire, as the already marginalized community began to experience unemployment, inflation, and economic stagnation. Occasional shoot outs with the police were not uncommon. It did not become clear that Chang was the leader of the Kenyalawak Army until 2011, when he made a video of the matter, and posted it to Facebook. For the next two years, Chang and his family would flee from village to village in Kenyalawak and Jinyu, until in 2013, when the Orchid Revolution occurred. Chang would return to his home and would seize control of the village, forcing out the police, and creating a pseudo rebel state from within the village. For the next two years, Chang would organize the Kenyalawak army in harassing the police and army until the government was moved out in 2015. With a new regime, Chang now looks for an independent Kenyalawak and Jinynu.

Abraham Kamassi - Labour Party
Image

Account Name: Maklohi Vai
Occupation: Senator

Party Position(s):
None

Positions in Government:
N/A

Constituency: TBA
Political Ideology: Social liberalism

Family (more in bio): Wife, Noor Myafiqh binte Abdul Rahman
Son, David Kamassi
Daughter, Miriam Zhuang
Son, Elihu Kamassi

Background: Abraham Kamassi was born in Kolkata, India, in 1946, to a family of Baghdadi Jewish ancestry. His father, Joseph (1921-2006), and his mother, Hannah (1921-2002), had each been born and raised in the Kolkata Jewish family as well, as had their parents and grandparents. Joseph and Hannah had met in childhood in Kolkata, and had begun a relationship in the 30s. Joseph served in World War II, and after returning, he and Hannah were married in 1945. Abraham was the first of three children, followed by his sisters Rebecca (1949-2008) and Sarah (1954-).

Joseph, as a restaurant owner with a side business in imports, served as a sort of conduit between the Kolkata Jews and the rest of Indian society. He did not hide his faith, which for the vast majority of Indians was no problem. However, for some it was. In 1958, Joseph was confronted by a patron who, unhappy with the service, hurled a host of slurs at Joseph. Joseph refused to lose his temper and had his waitstaff remove the man from the restaurant, but if anything the man was made more angry by the fact that Joseph did not respond to his anger. Two days later, Joseph received a visit from one of the man's associates, threatening the lives of Joseph's children if he did not leave the city. Joseph did not budge, and the other side did not either. A group of men kidnapped Rebecca, then 9 years old, as she was walking to a park after school, and demanded a large ransom from Joseph. He paid, and then immediately made plans to move the family out of the country.

The Kamassi family landed in Singapore in 1959, where there was a small Jewish community ready to help them in their move. The family stayed in Singapore through independence in the 1960s. After the Elizian killings of 1971-1973, the foreign merchant population of the country was depleted, especially those with deep knowledge of mainland Asian markets. An Elizian company which had done business with Joseph recruited him to Elizia in 1974 with a lucrative executive position and housing in Kentang. Abraham, then 28, had had trouble finding a steady job in Singapore despite his Civil Engineering degree from the National University of Singapore, and decided to tag along.

Abraham quickly found work in Elizia, eventually taking the lead on several major infrastructure projects across the country. In 1978, he met Noor Myafiqh binte Abdul Rahman, a Malaysian woman who worked in the Malaysian Embassy in Kentang. They were married in 1981, and Myafiqh took a job in the Elizian Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a Southeast Asia political correspondent. Their first son, David, was born in 1983, followed by their daughter, Miriam, in 1985, and their second son, Elihu, in 1990.

David went to the United States for university, graduating from the University of Chicago in 2005 with a Bachelor's in Computer Science. He then went to the University of Pennsylvania for his PhD. Upon graduation in 2011, he became the first person to hold an advanced degree in his family. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at the University of Washington. He is engaged to Jennifer Michaels, a lawyer in Seattle.

Miriam went to the National University of Singapore, like her father, though for Finance. She graduated in 2007, and immediately went to work for HSBC in Hong Kong. There, she met Richard Zhuang, a Hong Kong native, also in banking. They were wed in 2014.

Elihu graduated from the Free University of Berlin in 2013 with a degree in History. A Rhodes Scholar, he is currently pursuing a doctorate at Oxford University, focused on the history of Japanese isolationism.

[Abraham's career since 1980, and entry into politics, to be added]

It wasn't obvious to guess everyone's ethnicity or date of birth, so I went with whatever was given or inferred. I count 21 database entries for persons; 20 of these gave an obvious ethnicity and 20 of these gave an obvious religion. Those missing an ethnicity was Merizoc and those missing a religion was Electrum. Anyway: the database is currently 40% Chinese, 30% Malay, 15% Indian, 10% White and 5% Japanese. Compare this with the 'official' demographic statistics of 45% Malay (underrepresented), 29% Chinese (overrepresented), 10% Indian (honestly close enough), 6% Aboriginal (totally ignored), 3% Vietnamese (totally ignored), and 5% White (all of which seem to vote Federalist...).

For religion, the database is currently 35% Buddhist, 25% Sunni, and 20% Christian (well done guys) while the Hindus, Jews, Shia muslims and the non-affiliated each have 1 database entry collectively making up the remaining 20% of the database. Compare this with the official statistics of 49% Sunni (where are they), 30% Buddhist (pretty close), 9% non-affiliated (relatively close), 8% Hindu (closest yet), and 3% other.

So if you don't know what to make your character like and you want to keep things statistically correct, picking a Vietnamese or Aboriginal Muslim would make the most sense.

I'll be keeping this updated every 10 entries or so.

Thang Ngoc Hai - Independent
Image

Account Name: The New Sea Territory
Occupation: Senator

Positions in Government:
Senator

Constituency: Kyashwe, Baragang
Political Ideology: Socialist (Influenced by libertarian and democratic socialists)

Family: Ni (Wife), Thang Dinh Chien (Brother)
Background: Thang Ngoc Hai was born and raised in Kyashwe by immigrants escaping the war in Vietnam in 1974. His father worked in a factory while his mother was an ardent communist, who wrote for a newspaper. They left Vietnam altogether instead of moving North out of fear for their child's (Chien's) safety.

Growing up in Kyashwe, in a predominantly Chinese neighborhood, Hai assimilated into the local youth culture. Growing up, he listened to old tapes from American metal bands like Slayer and Anthrax, and spent a lot of time generally goofing off. After getting a job washing dishes at a restaurant, he joined the All-Elizian Federation of Labor, then the Elizian Confederation of Labor.

After seeing the destruction the economic crashes and Orchid Revolution wreaked on Kyashwe, he decided to run for political office and an independent, to put his values before party politics. Luckily, many of the competing far-leftist groups in the neighborhood put aside their differences and endorsed him as a neutral, unaffiliated candidate.

Faith: Buddhist

Likes: American Thrash Metal, Kyashwe, Pespi, Interfaith dialogue, ECL
Dislikes: Nationalism, mixing politics and religion

Her father was an Indian man. Tuah rejects her Indian heritage and considers herself an aboriginal. She grew up among a small Buddhist community, although her faith faded with age. She was at the forefront of anarchist movements in Yangparat, especially campaigning against crime and corruption. Political Affiliations:
Insurrectionist Anarchism, Autonomist Marxism, Individualist Anarchism, Illegalism, Anarchist Communism

Location: Predominantly Baragang, with some groups in Kentang
Size: Roughly 600
Typical Uniform/Attire: Black
Background: The first affinity group to call themselves an Autonomist group began some time in 2004, in Greywater, Baragang. It was only a handful of squatters who began to rob stores and fight with the police, but had a direct connection to radical left politics in Elizia. Many members of this initial group later founded other groups based on their experiences in this first group, which splintered after the police raided their squat in 2006, killing three people.

In 2010, there were over a dozen cells calling themselves Autonomists, each with various interpretations and philosophical inspirations, ranging from egoist, post-left anarchism to Autonomist Marxism and left-communism. They existed both in Baragang and Kentang (although the Greywater cell had been driven out by police), loosely connected but not organized in any official way. Many of these groups began campaigns vandalizing Mosques and Buddhist temples. Over a dozen arson or attempted arson attacks were documented during this period, leading to a backlash by the authorities. A squat was raided and two dozen alleged Autonomists were arrested in response.

In 2011, a group of about fifty Autonomists burned down a police station in Greywater, then began inciting people in the streets to riot and loot stores. The political timing for this was unintentionally perfect, as massive spikes in unemployment and increased This was the largest attack committed by the Kumpalan up to this point, and got massive media attention. Police were called in from all around, and a three week period of sporadic street warfare in the neighborhood ended with police withdrawal.

In 2012, members of a Kentang Autonomist Group reclaimed an abandoned warehouse and opened the squat as a shelter for the homeless and unemployed peasants moving into the city. About sixty people lived there until being forcefully evicted by three hundred policemen in 2013, a few weeks before the Orchid Revolution.

Many Autonomist Groups participated in the mass demonstrations after the All-Elizian Federation of Labor called for strikes in 2013. The number of Autonomists skyrocketed from just over two hundred to over six hundred in a matter of weeks. These new members formed some of the most radical sections of the organization, which participated in the Orchid Revolution. During this period, violent acts committed by the group were at their highest. They claimed responsibility for a myriad of terror attacks, including bombings, robberies and assassinations.

Autonomists protested outside the December Peace Accords in Kentang and got into violent confrontations with security at the event. Since then, the groups have calmed down significantly, but are waiting for another opportunity to escalate class conflict.

and may I create a constituency in the capitol/any other major city?

What are your opinions on relations with Anglophone Oceania (Australia, New Zealand)?

I would have no problem with that. In fact, I strongly favor free trade with all nations, especially with Oceania and other developed nations. I think it's important that we have friendly relations with our neighbors, and free trade is a good start.

Ms Katijah binti Nadeem, I have a number of questions to ask you:―
  • Firstly, would you approve of an initiative to implement habitual Western naming customs in Elizia? This would, of course, be limited to legal aspects of life and private citizens would remain free to use their naming customs in social settings and even as standards of secondary importance before the law.
  • It is impossible to hide your connection to your father and his politics. How do you plan to assuage any fears and reassure the electorate (and, especially, the Chinese minority) of the key differences despite the bonds of blood?
  • Would you support the institution of English as Elizia’s unifying language?

1. I don't really think that's necessary. Our naming customs are an integral part of our culture, and I don't see any reason to change that.

2. Since the Orchid Revolution, I have recognized the utter failure that the ideology of the Elizian National Congress has been. Elizia under the ENC was a violent, authoritarian mess, and its ideology is something I've stood against ever since. That said, I do believe that it is important to preserve national identity and sovereignty, as well as self-determination, but without the authoritarian violence of the ENC.

3. I have no issue with granting English official language status. It is a good step to opening relations with the West. However, I do believe it is important to preserve other languages as a part of Elizia's unique culture.

Background: Arushihua has a fairly murky past before British colonialism. The general understanding is that is was a small farming community until the British came. Given the communities strategic location it served as a major transport hub for soldiers and logistics. During this period is saw high levels of growth and development attempting to fill out needed services. Many Chinese laborers moved into the city displacing an ever more shrinking native Malay population, Many Hindus from india also settled down in the area as part of the British force in the area leading to a moderately large Hindu population. Ethnic riots have broken out in 1856, 1878, and 1903 all however were put down by British forces usually the result of Malay workers clashing with lower class Chinese laborers. However tension subsided as the British consolidated their power more in the area. During WWII the community played a role in the British defense of their pacific territories however the community suffered from a brutal Japanese occupation after the success of the Malaysian campaign and subsequent assaults on Elizia as part of that military campaign from 1942 till 1945 when the Japanese surrendered and the British Military Administration of Malaya was established. After the establishment of the Malaysian federation and then independence of Elizia it was feared ethnic tension between Malays and Chinese would flair up again. However with the ENC taking control of the country it put an effective clamp on any further altercations between the two groups. after the Vietnam war and the defeat of the South Vietnamese a fairly well sized population of ethnic Vietnamese came into the city usually finding their home in the Chinese communities within the city. During the Orchid Revolution ethno-religious flare-ups occurred as pro-ENC Muslim Malays clashed with anti-ENC Buddhist, Christians, And Hindus who felt marginalized by the ENC in political terms. However these were quick and sporadic and saw minimal in the way of casualties and afterwards saw little violence in the wake of the conflict which followed the crackdown of the Orchid Revolution.

I believe, as a nation, must imperatively be neutral and be careful in the Asian diplomacy. Any wrong intention or a sign of it of the wrong intention could mean negative consequences. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't be friends with no nation.

Rather, we should be friends with other nations, but Elizia is not to be a means to an end of any superpower. I can fantasize also that Elizia could be a nation of prosperity and a paradise among the oceans of tempest, as in tense relations between Asian nations that hold strong grudges against each other.

I believe that it is our best interest with every nation, and that we should be friends with every superpower.

Regarding the matter of Oceania/South East Asia, we must be friends with every one of them, they should be looked at as neighbors, but we should not be involved in diplomatic squabbles over small islands, and if I assume a high position of authority, we could even help resolve the dispute over Spratly Islands and to try to calm relations between Asian neighbors, and last but not least, instead of creating a Military-Industrial complex, why not create a Peaceful-Industrial complex, no nation ever tried it before, and it would be a good time to do it since we just got out of a conflict.

That is my overall position
