To begin: Dr Mourani is willing to answer questions.
Here is an idea for an Economist-style magazine in Elizia; I hope it will flourish and fill Elizia with invocations to the gods of free trade and ordered liberty, but realise that it will not in all likelihood. It will nevertheless be there to accept your opinion pieces, humorous (within reason, of course) letters and “humble recommendations” to the government and, if necessary or opportune, the opposition.
Quære - Biweekly Newspaper (Politico-cultural Magazine)
Image

Account Name: Filimons and Frodtthiuda
Objective: To advise and provide worthwhile commentary for the fatherland.
Political Affiliations:
Liberal conservatism

Location: Kentang (head office); available countrywide
Size: 45.000 (circulation)
Typical Uniform/Attire: N/A
Background: Quære was founded in 2001 by Hong Kong-based Elizian exiles to provide a forum for right-leaning and rather conservative criticism of the Elizian National Congress. It is initial circulation was limited to politically active Elizians in the city and Macau, but clandestine editions were successfully introduced into Elizia proper; these were widely read by those who, despite their wish for change, found the more radical, leftist alternatives to the ENC’s rule altogether unpalatable. Only months before the mass protests of 2013 which would lead to the Orchid Revolution, the publication was made available in Western Europe and North America. This expansion would make it especially prominent in its advocacy over the course of the Elizian Civil War. With peace at home, the head office was relocated from Hong Kong to Kentang, whilst Quære sought to claim a spot in the pantheon of the “New Elizia”.
Supports: Elizian nationalism, societal harmony, protection of customs, introduction of English as the country’s unifying language
Does not Support: Separatism, war and strife, absolute dominance by Malays, forceful use of Bahasa Elizia.

Any Questions from the Public to be answered?
  • Does Quære endorse any party? - Quære does not, as of yet, endorse any political party in particular. Elizia’s party system is not yet well-developed and, as such, we have chosen to wait for the “spring of parties” to come to an end before we cast judgement.
  • How strict will the editorial line be? - We are a liberal conservative publication and we intend to stick to that editorial line, but this will not, of course, prevent us from accepting contributions which do not conform to the minutiae of our postulates.

“Mr Hsu, what treatment do you believe former members of the ENC should be given by both the new incarnation of the state and our society as a whole? What place ought to be given to minorities which suffered under the National Congress’ rule? Does their plight, in your view, justify the enactment of positive discrimination laws? Furthermore, what is your stance with regards to our currency situation? As you are bound to know, circumstance has forced us to abandon our own currency, our dollar, in favour of green-coloured banknotes embellished with the faces of gentlemen that do not belong to us, and the multicoloured postcards of the BNM in Kuala Lumpur.”

“Sir, if you were assured the reins of this country―the leather seats of government―, what would you do to make it a prosperous, harmonious nation? Would you, given the power to do so, install a monarchy (of the elective kind, one ought to think) in place of the republic? How would you reconcile your party’s environmental postures with the urgent need of the people for an improvement in the economical realm? To close, what is your view of positive discrimination (known to you, perhaps, as affirmative action) and do you believe non-Malays in Elizia should be extended the benefits of the aforementioned policies?”

I think we should follow the model of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of South Africa in creating a society which can overcome the crime of the past.

-As a minority myself this question strikes close to home. Simply put I don't think the concept of positive discrimination laws work. To use South Africa as an example again we see that the Black Economic Empowerment program has been a failure in many regards. I'd rather see us working to establish a society which works to create legal and economic equality for all and work to create a Meritocratic society where all are employed based on skill. we need to rework our dilapidated education system to give an equal and inclusive education to all. We shouldn't focus on Chinese people needing special treatment or whites needing special treatment, We need to focus on improving everyone's upward mobility through education and doing so at an early age and then coupling that with a fair and equal legal environment for them to be productive within.

-We need to focus on building up our economy before we really can focus on a currency. Right now I think were stuck in a situation were the use of the Ringgit and other currencies until we can formulate an economy which can hold up a currency properly. Although I'm a Logistics Officer not an Economist so I'm one to keep silent about these subjects until I've heard all possible sides and am able to formulate a personal policy based on that accrued knowledge.

Account Name: Hindia Belanda
Elected Representative: Adonis Hadiningrat

Population: 18,000
Ethnic Composition:
47% Malay
22% White
13% Chinese
10% Indian
8% Aboriginal

Background: Bukit Raya, a small compact neighbourhood on the island of Kenyalawak, is home to a significant population of Malays and one of the biggest concentration of Europeans in Elizia. It was once one of the many important administrative centres during British rule, evidenced by the numerous colonial buildings that line up its streets. During the Elizian Killings, the civil resistance movement grew in Bukit Raya – its residents united together regardless of their ethnicities to save as many ethnic Chinese as they could, often hiding them inside their opulent houses. For that reason, Bukit Raya has always been known as the most tolerant neighbourhoods in the country with its ethnic communities being solicitous toward each other.

The neighbourhood is now an upscale, artistic area frequented by many Elizians who want to savour the brighter artsy side of the troubled country. A colonial office located in the centre of the neighbourhood houses a room famous for its use by the ENC to execute ethnic Chinese. The room is known as the Bilik Maut, serving as a stark reminder of the past horrors committed by the ENC. There is a large mosque called the Masjid Raya Ahl-al Bayt and an Anglican St. Giles Church, both facing each other at the Tuanku Square. A Buddhist temple now stands on a hallowed ground whose soils had been permeated by the blood of innocent Elizians during the Killings. Despite its name Bukit Raya, which is Malay for Great Hill, the terrain is generally flat and features no single hill.

- Sunni 32%

Tjilik Beluluk - Socialist Equality
Image

Account Name: United Provinces of Atlantica
Occupation: Senator, Monk

Party Position(s):
Leadership Councillor

Positions in Government:
President

Constituency: Tanah Buku East Fork
Political Ideology: Buddhist socialism, environmentalism, Libertarian municipalism, Pacifism.

Family: None
Background: Tjilik Beluluk was born on September 17th, 1975 in an isolated, agrarian, and almost entirely aboriginal village to two likewise aboriginal parents. The village was at the time controlled by Communist rebels, as its remote nature made it an excellent safe haven for these said rebels. At the age of eight, however, a military offensive by the ENC government killed both of his parents and much of the population of the village, with Beluluk only barely managing to escape with the other survivors to a nearby Theravada Buddhist monastery, which gave the refugees shelter. He also met a young Ujang Doung at the time, who introduced him to Buddhism and became a key influence on him during this period of life.

His time at the Buddhist monastery was filled with learning both religion, causing him to follow Theravada Buddhism rather than the Kaharingan (the traditional Animism of the Dayak people) of his ancestors. He eventually became a zealous follower of Theravada Buddhism. The Communism of the village of his early childhood was also a great influence on his political views, eventually resulting in his following of Buddhist socialism. He was raised at the Buddhist monastery throughout the rest of his childhood and later adolescence, eventually becoming a Śrāmaṇera, a novice Buddhist monk, at the age of eighteen. He eventually became a Bhikkhu, a fully ordained Buddhist monk, at the age of twenty in 1995.

He soon began speaking out against the ENC government, at this time primarily for its discrimination against non-Malays, including aboriginals such as himself. In 1999, however, he was arrested and convicted by the Elizian government for 'Communism', becoming a political prisoner. During his confinement, he was often tortured and beaten, but remained a firm Buddhist and socialist. In 2003, however, in an attempt to repair Elizia's reputation abroad, he was pardoned and released by the Elizian government, joining the newly-founded Order of the Endless Knot and preaching in aboriginal villages close to his home, converting many from Kaharingan to Theravada Buddhism. He eventually became more involved in politics as the Order evolved into the Path to Harmony, eventually choosing to run for office on the PtH ticket in his primarily aboriginal and Buddhist constituency in Elizia's first-ever democratic election and, many remembering the sacrifices he had made for their civil rights, was elected by a large margin.

After the Constitutional Convention was convened, Senator Beluluk began to play a significant role in drafting a new Constitution of Elizia, drafting the entirety of the Declaration of the Sovereignty and Foundations of Elizia (which was accepted by the Senate without any significant alternative proposals, although the official name of Elizia was chosen to be the "Federation of Elizia", rather than what Senator Beluluk had initially proposed, the "Most Serene Republic of Elizia"), co-authoring the legislative chapter of the Constitution, authoring the election and amendment chapters of the Constitution, and co-authoring the Declaration of the Rights of Elizian Citizens, Residents and Non-Resident Aliens, along with Senator John Chiu. He was also elected Parliamentary Whip for the Path to Harmony without opposition, and appointed Shadow Minister for the Interior and Development by Opposition Leader Siva Jeyaratnam before being appointed Minister of the Environment and Rural Affairs by President Raharjo Iskandar-Bambang. After being appointed Deputy Speaker by Speaker Richard Lam, however, resigned this position on September 11th. He served as the Deputy Speaker until October and served as Acting Speaker following the resignation of Richard Lam.

As a high-ranking member of the Path to Harmony, Senator Beluluk participated in the negotiations that led to the establishment of the Socialist Equality Party. Following discussion between leaders of the National Coalition and the leadership of the Elizian Communist Party, he became the National Coalition's nominee for President and was narrowly confirmed. His first speech as President focused on unity to achieve sustainable develppment and putting the needs of Elizians first.

Faith: Theravada Buddhism

Likes: Meditation, tea, the Elizian jungle, socialism.
Dislikes: Violence, Malay supremacism, the ENC, Palm oil, decadence.

Any Questions from the Public to be answered?
  • What is your opinion on Elizia's debt to the IMF? - I firmly believe that the odious debt accrued by the ENC dictatorship is illegitimate and should be defaulted on, as said debt was not accrued by the legitimate representatives of the Elizian people but rather by dictators only seeking to fund their repression of the Elizian people and luxuries for themselves.
  • Do you support a republic or an elective monarchy? - I am a strong supporter of an Elizian republic, as I believe that sovereignty should rest in the people and only the people of a nation, and that vesting our sovereignty into one monarch is unjust for all the other peoples of our great nation.
  • How do you wish to unite the peoples of our nation? - I believe that all the peoples of our nation should be recognized for their great contributions to Elizia; I believe that a new Constitution should establish Elizia as a nation of many different peoples and cultures, that not only Malay but also Chinese, Hindi, the Dayak languages and Vietnamese should all be recognized as official languages. I also strongly support officially recognized Elizia as a nation of nations, a federal system that gives all Elizian ethnicities the autonomy they deserve, particularly allowing individual communities far-reaching autonomy under a system of Libertarian municipalism, and affirmative action for the disadvantaged ethnic groups of Elizia. I am, however, strongly opposed to the neocolonialist policy of replacing Malay with English, as this only entrenches colonial roots into our nation.
  • What do you belief should be done in regards to justice during the ENC's decades of rule? - It is my dearest hope that the Truth and Reconciliation Commission will be formed to uncover the crimes of the ENC, that ENC leaders will be tried for crimes against humanity, and that the ENC will be banned so that the ilk of the ENC will never be allowed to infest our nation again. I am also a strong supporter of demilitarisation, as the military of many Southeastern Asian nations, including Elizia, is far more of a threat to the people they claim to protect than the peaceful peoples of nearby nations.
  • What is your opinion of the current President? President Katdare has been an ineffectual President who has continuously failed to be on the forefront of tackling Elizia's issues, such as failing to introduce an education bill (something the National Coalition has done), failing to stand up to financial institutions (again something the National Coalition has done), failing to introduce legislation to improve the welfare of the people (something introduced by the National Worker's Party) and even failing to announce his cabinet before Opposition Leader Siva Jeyaratnam has done. When asked why he has failed to be on the forefront of progress for Elizia, he has only stated that he being the president of a Provisional Government somehow makes him exempt from introducing pioneering legislation. Worst of all, he has failed to answer his questions during Prime Minister's Questions in a timely manner, and has through and through proved his unwillingness to tackle the foreign threats to Elizia such as the IMF and even accepted forcing the Elizian people to pay some of the odious debt borrowed by the ENC dictatorship that was only used to murder and oppress Elizians.
  • What should Elizia do to challenge the threat of climate change? Elizia should sign and ratify the Kyoto Protocol and Paris Agreement, which both combat the very real threat of climate change, and should furthermore ensure that new electrification measures are entirely green and that the industrialisation of Elizia is done in a fully eco-friendly manner.
  • Coffee or Tea? Tea has always been my favourite drink, and I always make sure to start the day with a cup of teh tarik.

My party would reconcile economic growth with the environment by limited industrialization, air pollution control, Thorium and Molten Salt nuclear power. I will do everything I can to make industrialization and economic growth as green as possible. What's good also is that most economists say that developing countries develop faster than developed countries, therefore, we are lucky that we can have the advanced technology of today to advance, instead of the hundred years development that the Western world did.

Crown Nationalist Party - Political Party
Image

Account Name: Mediciano

Objective:
The CNP is a party founded in the days of the British Empire, and rooted deeply in the colonial spirit of that time. With the modern Britain unconcerned with maintenance or possession of an empire, the CNP has become increasingly independent. It seeks to re-establish Imperialist ideals, and perhaps remake Elizia as a grand new empire under an Elizian viceroyalty.

Political Affiliations:
Senator Alexander Wenham, Viceroy of Elizia

Location: Elizia
Size: ~1,800 members
Typical Uniform/Attire: White or khaki uniforms with insignias for party occasions, streetwear or business wear in most environments
Background:
Founded by ex-officers of the British East India Company as a members-only cricket club, the CNP was originally called "The Crown Club". It only became political following the beginning of the Elizian independence movement, when descendants of the EIC founders took up arms to resist anti-colonial paramilitaries. Many of these descendants were veterans of the Pacific campaign, but were too few in numbers to have any real effect. Following the establishment of Elizian independence, a man named Alexander Wenham took over the group and rebranded it as a legitimate political party. Wenham also moved the party away from the British ideologies it was founded upon, taking a more nationalist stance in an effort to appeal to a larger voter base. The party retains a significant paramilitary wing, the "Expeditionary Scouts". The party gives out titles and styles to its members, and thinks of itself as a viceregal government-in-waiting, although these titles hold no legitimacy outside the party.

Supports: Autocracy, nationalism, fascism, militarism, imperialism, Christianity, exceptionalism
Does not Support: Communism, foreigners

Linanto Aiguo - Liberal Democrats
Image

Account Name: Davincia
Occupation: Senator, (former) Brigadier General of the E.N.C.

Party Position(s):
Chairman

Positions in Government:
Shadow Parliamentary Defense Secretary

Constituency: Permata (Blue Square District)
Political Ideology: Neoliberalism, Anticommunism, Militarization

Family: Kemboja binti Basuki (wife), Sabeeka bin Linanto (son), Seri binti Linanto (daughter)
Background: Linanto Aiguo started life as the son of two middle-class Indonesian immigrants, ones that sought easy access into a country with a larger Hindu community that their children could be raised in. Linanto and his brothers and sisters experienced a relatively calm childhood, with financial security offered from their father's work in the nation's coal mines. However, with the Cold War escalating across Asia, Linanto and his parents participated in the persecution of alleged communists within their village. Paranoia seeped into his mind at an early age. He turned over dozens of neighbors under the assumption that they were traitors serving the interests of the Kremlin. A young Linanto looked to the United States with admiration, but saw greater potential in the authoritarian regimes of South Korea and Taiwan.

The decision to join the military to continue the hunt against communists was instantaneous. His dedication, national pride, and intellect allowed him to rise through the ranks at a tremendous pace. This amelioration settled down once Linanto reached the position of brigadier-general. For almost a decade, he hunted down any potential threat to the E.N.C. without impunity. During these years he had met his wife, an Elizian native and devout Buddhist, and together they had two children of their own. The act of marriage caused Linanto to moderate his views slightly, becoming more open to the idea of democracy at a slow pace. However, the advent of the Orchid Revolution convinced him that a significant number of communists sought power in Elizia once more. He fought underneath Adi Susilo Iskandar in order to crush the rebellion. The ends justified the means, no matter how brutal.

While the E.N.C. proved victorious in the short run, subsequent calamities involving terrorism and a lackluster economy withered down Linanto's hopes for a fully-united Elizia. He retired shortly before the government of the country was dissolved. Yet rather than enjoying retirement to the fullest, he decried the establishment of a UN-backed provisional government, seeing it as a Marxist conspiracy to destroy Elizia. Linanto worked tirelessly to improve his reputation, simultaneously reducing his anticommunist rhetoric and replacing it with high praise for unrestricted, international trade. His relationship with the Liberal Democrats is a tenuous one. The former brigadier-general finds himself between the Liberal Democrats and the Elizia First party, acting as a bridge between the two.
Faith: Secular Hindu

Likes: Capitalism, Japanese tea, Mexican soap-operas, and firearm collections
Dislikes: Terrorism, debt, and Canada

“Very interesting, Mr Moghadam. Your Kerala-inspired programme, I believe, would be of interest to the centre-left faction which has emerged in this country following the end of the civil war; I suggest you discuss this in detail before the chamber after the constitutional convention comes to a close and we are left with a definitive structural basis for the state. Till then, one can only enquire by these means. I am interested, however, in your arguments to favour protectionism in the Elizian case, when many argue a total, absolute opening to international markets is essential to bring prosperity to our beloved, if somewhat afflicted, fatherland.

“You are well within your right to defend the republican coarseness; I, for one, defend the monarchical idiosyncrasy. Would it be possible for you to elaborate on your condemnation of proportional representation, honourable member? You hold the view―at present, a very respectable one―that this country ought to be a democracy, but stand against the ostensibly purer form (barring a Helveto-Hellenic solution, which is altogether unsuitable for Elizia) on account of its power to represent people accurately and with regard for the true wishes and desires of the citizenry. How can a genuine democrat justify this position without, perhaps, sensing this growth of ‘fascist’ parties is a reflection of justified disillusion and displeasure.

“The limited industrialisation and control of air pollution you speak of is entirely understandable from your political background, but the suggestion of thorium and molten salt nuclear power is admittedly bewildering and, to my eyes, purely speculative, for Elizia, for obvious reasons unable to fund this sort of research by its own means, would depend on the interest of foreign powers, and distant institutes and faculties to even begin to consider these as solutions to our multifaceted problems. Lastly, is your statement in favour ‘welfare for everyone’ a endorsement of a guaranteed minimum income?

“Thank you very much for taking the time to respond to my questions.”

What's your position on the Elizian Confederation of Labor's pan-socialist unionism vs the Autonomists' insurrectionism? What is more effective, and more anarchistic? Is violence justified to bring about social change?

Michel Nugati - Social Liberal Party
Image

Account Name: Skyviolia
Occupation: Senator and former Priest

Party Position(s):
Member

Positions in Government:
Senator

Constituency: Jankaslaja
Political Ideology: Liberalism
Background: Michel Nugati was born in Jankaslaja in 1967 to two loving parents. Michel was born in the poorer areas of Jankaslaja. His family had unsafe drinking water, dirty clothes, and bad schools. Even with his bad condition, he still managed to go to school and worked very hard to educate himself. Michels father was very important in motivating his son to get an education. He was top of his class in most of his years of education. Nugati avoided the gangs in his area but admitted to being involved in gang related activities like selling and using marijuana as early as thirteen. Because of his rough childhood, Nugati has empathy for the poor and his wanting to help the poor got him into liberalism.

Bugatti left his town, family, and country to go to China and study at the prestigious Peking University where he studied east Asian history and law. Nugati didn't find joy in his historical or law studies and decided to take up theology studies. While he did complete his law studies, Nugati came back home and decided that he wanted to dedicate his life to the church. He signed up to go on missionaries and help the poor. His ambition did not go unnoticed as he was made a Priest in 1998. As a Priest, Nugati would preach love, tolerance, and forgiveness. He was also instrumental in bringing together Christians and Muslims together. He became one of the most popular priests in the nation. In 2006, he was offered a position as a Bishop, but he refused. He saw another way to help the local people. Nugati was elected a city councilman in 2007 and then won the election for mayor in 2008. Nugati ran for the Senate seat, which he won by a landslide.

Faith: Roman Catholicism
Likes: Goodness, helping the poor, liberalism, the Bible, God.
Dislikes: Far-right conservativism, far right evangelism.

Any Questions from the Public to be answered?
  • You were a Priest before you came into politics, why are you liberal then? - It is my opinion that the liberal ideology is closer to that of God than the conservative one. It is gods word to love and be tolerant, but it is not what many of these conservatives are doing. God loves everyone and Gods people are not to be put under labels.

Putu Hutapea - Elizian National Congress (Caucuses with EF)
Image

Account Name: Kamchastkia
Occupation: Senator

Party Position(s):
Interim Party Chairman

Positions in Government:

Constituency: N/A
Political Ideology: Anticommunism, Order, Republicanism

Family: Chandra Hutapea (Wife)
Background: Putu Hutapea was born in the agricultural, rural farmlands of Elizia into an ethnically Indonesian and religiously Islamic family which raised him into the stern, firm, and strong leader he is today. His father participated in military activities during the second world war, the details of which have never been released to the public despite Putu's long-standing public position, and Putu has been largely protective of his father's history -- some suspect due to his past collaborationist ties with the British government and his initial opposition to independence.

Putu spent his formative years as a child in the field farming, just as his father, and his father before him -- and his dismay with the lack of a meaningful future in being a normal farmer in Elizia pushed him into the career of political and military service that he so often dreamed of. When he turned 19 he had joined the domestic Elizian Military and had already began to work his way up the internal rank structure of the undermanned, undergunned, and under trained military force with his stern and demanding impressing being left on all those who served under him. During the same time he established political alliances with several nationalist groups throughout Elizia as a fallback if the government of Elizia trained its sights on its domestic military rather than where they belonged--the foreign Chinese threat.

Putu served with notable recognition during his 30 year military career, and his long-established ties with the Elizian National Congress led to his further promotion in both political and military standing within the military and party. As the ENC's grip on power began to slip with a crumbling domestic situation, Putu was the first to recommend, and independently carry out, harsh and brutal methods to repress the growing amount of disorder within Elizia. Many of his internal orders to the ENC's paramilitary forces after the crumbling of the domestic situation were leaked to the international press and used as proof of intentional crimes against humanity being undertaken by the ENC, one included the targetting of schools and hospitals throughout the northern Chinese populated territories of Elizia. Except for the direct leadership of the ENC, Putu's name has repeatedly been put on the list of those who wish to see the "war crime trials" for actions undertaken by the ENC authorities.

After the cease-fire and later UN administration of Elizia, Putu was a constant critic of the actions of the United Nations' administration of Elizia and was rarely unseen in the national media making rash, loud, and aggressive statements regarding the "continuing Chinese Communist threat" that was being "allowed to run Elizia under the guise of a United Nations administration." Many of these statements would have thought to make the ENC political establishment choose a more moderate leader for when the UN did eventually leave Elizia to govern itself, however, in a shock to many Putu Hutapea was eventually appointed the leader of the Elizian National Congress and has led the party since the withdrawal of the United Nations.

Arkolon wrote:Question to all Senators: What is your opinion on Elizia's debt to the IMF?

The question of the debt accrued by the Elizian National Congress is certainly a difficult and complicated one. It seems unfair to many, myself included, that this new government would be forced to pay the debts owed by the regime we fought so hard to overthrow. However, if we wish to be taken seriously by the international and financial community, we must pay at least a portion of these debts. I recommend we renegotiate our debts with the IMF, so that we may pay the fairest amount possible.
Insaeldor wrote:What is your position of the economy? more specifically how do you think the Elizian government should direct its economic forces and how should we develop it?

Our first action in terms of the economy must be to eliminate and lower many of the remaining tariffs from the previous ENC regime. This will allow our economy to grow through involvement in the world economy and foreign investment in our nation. We must loosen many of the arbitrary restrictions the ENC had on domestic industry, while also establishing common-sense regulations to protect consumers. We should also become a member of ASEAN to spur trade with our southeastern neighbors.

“Mr Katdare, would you favour legislation intending to establish the English tongue as the national, unifying language of the state, thereby displacing our variety of the Malay tongue, Bahasa Elizia, in the administrative realm, save for occasions in which its continued use would be practical and sensible as part of our attempts to bring a ‘principled pragmatism’ to Elizia? If anyone were to describe you as a ‘proud Elizian’, would you agree with this portrayal and consider it just?”

I believe that English should be established as a national language, along with Malay and the other languages that define Elizia and make it unique. I am an Indian, a liberal, an internationalist, a Brit, a Hindu, a businessman, a citizen of the world, and a lover of art. But I would describe myself first and foremost as an Elizian, and a proud one at that.

Sayid Kasturi - Social Liberal Party
Image

Account Name: Argentarino
Occupation: Senator, Civil Rights Advocate

Party Position(s):
Chief Whip

Positions in Government:
Shadow Foreign Minister

Constituency: Sungai Sampit South
Political Ideology: Social Democracy

Family: Wife - Adilah, 42; Son - Adil, 16
Background: Born in a middle-class neighborhood in Sungai Sampit on May 7th, 1974, Sayid Kasturi grew up in relative comfort, being an only child and therefore receiving a lot of attention from his parents. As a result of their parental guidance, Sayid pursued an education in law at a university in Keitang, but changed course within his first year, eventually earning a political science degree in 1996. Using a combination of connections, loans, and some family money, he was able to secure a visa to study in Tokyo, at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies, securing a Master's in Public Policy in 1998. He secured a job within the Defense Ministry as a bureaucrat within that year, and for a while, he was comfortable. By 2013, he was a mid-level bureaucrat within the Defense Ministry, but when the riots broke out and the regime cracked down on the opposition, he lost faith in the government he worked for. There are rumors that Sayid Kasturi acted as a whistleblower before resigning, but they have not been confirmed. What is known is that he took to the streets of Sungai Sampit with other demonstrators and used his knowledge to help push for solidarity with the NCDS, while also making connections with the local unions that had been organizing the strikes, not to mention holding local officials accountable for transgressions. When the UNTAE was established, Sayid Kasturi worked on the local level at Sungai Sampit to ensure that the goal of the UN mission was fulfilled, at least in this jurisdiction. In 2016, he ran for an office in the new Parliament, joining with the Labour Party, which welcomed him with open arms and resulted in his victory. However, with the Labour Party's move to enter into a coalition with the EF and the NIP, Mr. Kasturi publicly disassociated himself from Labour and joined ranks with the LDP.

Do you support a republic or an elective monarchy?

What do you think should be done with the former leaders of the ENC dictatorship?

What is your opinion on the debt accrued to the IMF during the ENC dictatorship?

Question 1: I support a republic, we have no true royal history outside out our colonial history within recent memory. We have the structure of a republic and we should use this existing framework and work it to forum a Meritocratic Liberal Democracy.

Question 2: I think that high ranking members of the civilian government and military during the tenner of the ENC and we should put them on a fair trial. However I also support amnesty for other lower ranking members of the ENC government and the Military.

Question 3: Its a complex situation. Sadly we must accept that even though the debts were not gathered under our leadership but we are to responsible for these debts weather we like it or not. refusing to pay and defaulting would be dangerous to the frail democracy were are attempting to construct. I believe we need to negotiate with the IMF and I suggest with look carefully at how the Greeks under Tsipras and the Argentines under Macri and see how their attempts at their debts go and for us to formulate a plan based of the two examples.
