I'm submitting the following resolution. I should hope we can vote on it before we elect a new President should Ark lose confidence.

Resolved: All votes for Head of Government shall last at least 72 hours.

They've always lasted 72 hours. Having a 24 hour vote for President is just another part of this Constitution's strange tirade to kill activity.

Except Prime Minister investiture votes, which were twenty four hours.

The President here is basically the PM with a different title and some extra powers.

And yet we don't have a President. In other incarnations the vote for President indicated what coalition got to be in Government. The vote for this President does the same, just more directly.

We have a more Americanized president. I support extending the vote.

Rephrase: we don't have a separate head of state. In other incarnations the vote for head of state indicated who would be the head of government. The vote for this head of government does the same, just more directly.

If I lose the confidence vote, don't I just stay on as caretaker until the next general election?

The Constitution just says you'd become caretaker president "until the election of a successor." No specific description of when that is. On the other hand, it'd make sense, from a roleplaying perspective, to hold an election before a bunch of new members leave because they find out we're not going to have a government for three weeks.

Honestly, if we're willing to sacrifice immense activity — and I mean dozens of members and weeks of roleplaying — for the sake of a silly, vague IC constitution, it's time to wrap up NSGS and call it a day. The constitution that came out of the convention was fine, but frankly every amendment to it is worth retconning. Obscure procedures never meant for online roleplays, weeks of a caretaker government, and relegating the biggest vote of the roleplay to 24 hours are demonstrable activity killers, and I'm surprised anyone who's been here since at least Calaverde would try and defend any of it.
