Randomly, there's some good economic news for Elizia as the price of its exports have been growing while the price of its imports have been falling. Palm oil, which is now Elizia's biggest export in value, moved 3.9% since August 24th, and Rubber 4.3%. Other major exports, like wool and rice, were less spectacular, changing 0.6% and -2.2% respectively. As for imports, Elizia is benefiting from a cheaper barrel of Brent crude (down 7.1%) and cheaper plastic (down 1%). Steel fell over the month, but recuperated its losses to exactly where it was a month ago, one month on, so the net change I'm recording is 0%. In total, exports grew in value by 1.47% to $10.38b a year while imports fell 2.11% to $10.03b a year.

Whereas Elizia had a minor trade deficit of $15m, the trade balance is now in a surplus of $351m. Money is still actively flowing out of the country, however, as foreign investment runs away from the country. Net outflow of funds was $1.65b last "year" (August), but is now at $1.29b this "year" (September). This makes, by my calculations, the value of the Elizian bulat 0.87% more valuable than last month, now being worth $0.0485 (1 USD = 20.62 bulats).

Incorrect.

It means Ark can't make any major decisions as he'll now be Caretaker President, according to the constitutional amendment that you yourself wrote:

"The President shall become caretaker President with limited powers to execute day to day and vital functions of the nation upon losing a confidence vote until the election of a successor."

On the election of a successor:

"The President shall be elected with the Vice President by the Parliament of Elizia every two months immediately following the beginning of a new parliamentary session after the election of the Parliament of Elizia through instant-runoff voting."

For the record, here is the previous article which made it possible to elect a new President after the old one lost confidence of the house:

"The President of Elizia is selected by the Senate in accordance with their own protocols and holds the post until a demonstration of no confidence in the President of Elizia by the Senate."

DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE
PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICE

PRESS RELEASE
ON A SETTLEMENT WITH MARKSON INDUSTRIES

In a victory for both workers' rights and the rule of law in Elizia, the Department of Justice Civil Law Division has settled with Markson Industries Elizia in regards to its unlawful termination of employees who hold membership in the Elizian Communist Party.

As part of the binding agreement, Markson Industries has agreed to give thirty days' written notice, or a month's pay in lieu of notice, to any employee facing termination, and to end all discriminatory practices in corporate management and employment. The company has also pledged to cooperate with the Elizian Business Regulator and Department of Justice in the event of a federal audit to ensure the enforcement of this agreement. Markson Industries has furthermore agreed to make a voluntary contribution of 1.03 million bulats (approximately $50.000 US) to the federal Treasury Department.

This case sends a clear message to all employers that the federal Department of Justice will not equivocate in the defence of the fundamental human and labour rights of Elizian workers, and that the Department is more than willing to take legal action against those that would seek to undermine these basic principles. At the same time, this case will strengthen the rule of law in Elizia and demonstrate to prospective investors and the international community that Elizia has an independent, transparent legal system that they can trust to fairly investigate allegations of wrongdoing and that they can rest assured when doing business in Elizia that working conditions are equitable and all goods and services produced in a socially responsible manner.

Press release approved as written,

Anna Lee
Press Secretary

Well, no. One would expect some from of...."professionalism" (a term I am using liberally here) from people to issue punishments because people did something that warranted a punishment regardless of the relationship between an admin and a player.

If anything, this has demonstrated that as long as you can have friends in high places, you're immune from punishment. What needs to happen is the entire admin team needs to be gutted, replaced with competent individuals and and an overhaul of senate rules and what gets you banned and what gets you warned.

I should note, and I imagine Ainin will back me up on this, that there's a Common Fucking Sense doctrine when interpreting constitutional law. If the Senate wants to set the precedent that the President is replace after a no confidence motion they can do that, the parliamentary übermensch is not going to reach down from his pinnacle to stop us.

And another thing, Mr. Age of Enlightenment, the supremacy of the Constitution over federal law dictates that confidence bills come first. If we're really concerned with following the Constitution to the T, this is a good place to start.

I'm on mobile right now and probably won't get around to posting on my laptop until tomorrow so this'll do for now, but that section of the amendment was edited out while it was on the floor, and not included in the final version of the bill.

I added the investiture vote part during debate.

Yes, but mostly because of factors beyond anyone's control. Elizia still produces the same amount of rice and buys the same amount of petrol, but their prices changed to Elizia's advantage. What RPers do "control" is a 'financial stability' lever which decides how much foreign investment comes in; that 'financial stability' lever started off at 2.5/5.0, but I nudged it down to 1.5/5.0 when we left the IMF and annulled our debts, which affected the flow of money.

I love how we used the entire time allotted for the confidence resolution debating about which bills were supposed to be debated first, instead of debating the confidence resolution proposal that we were supposed to be debating in the first place.

How long would this test be? I think that we would lose potential members if we made an excessively long or complicated test.

I think Lykens was joking. I hope Lykens was joking. It's not such a big problem that it's worth curbing our membership, and besides, the whole Liberal Coalition would have to leave.
