NSG Senate General Discussion Thread

Postby NSG Senate Administrators » Tue Mar 15, 2016 7:00 am

The NSG Senate is on hiatus for now, this thread is used as a discussion for a potential future reboot.

Anyone who is a current member of the NSG Senate may post here as well as the NSG crowd. This rule will be changed when we start re-doing signups for the reboot, at which point those who are non-NSGS members will have to apply.

This OP will be updated several times over the next few days with appropriate information, including links and other relevant connections to the rest of the roleplay. The lobby is for IC and OOC discussion.

This thread will also serve as voting thread when it comes time to vote on proposals.

Proposals

Overview of Disciplinary Procedures

Rules
All normal NS rules remain in force
Warning Levels
Green- Level 1, equivalent to one warning
Blue- Level 2, equivalent to two warnings
Yellow- Level 3, denoting 1-3 days of suspension time total
Orange- Level 4, denoting 4+ days of suspension time total, and also denoting that the next offence will likely result in a ban
Black- banned from Senate

Further points:
-After being suspended once, each subsequent infraction results in more suspensions (not necessarily of more time), not further warnings.
-Posting past suspension results in an automatic upgrade to the next level of delinquency
-Warning levels can decrease over time:

-From Green to None: 2 weeks
-From Blue to Green: 3 weeks
-From Yellow to Blue: 5 weeks
-From Orange to Yellow: 6 weeks
-From Black to Orange: Admin discretion after 8 weeks

The Co-OPs of this thread are this account, Maklohi Vai, Malgrave, Britanno 2, and Zurkerx.

NS Politburo: We start with the USSR in 1989 or 1990. Perestroika and Glasnost are in the air. Political parties have been formed and elections have been scheduled for 1990. Will you be a party leader in the Communist party who supports Gorbachev? Or will you be a part of newly formed fascist, conservative, or libertarian parties? Join newly formed leftist parties? Or lead your SSR to independence as a member of a secessionist party? Will you be a member of the old guard plotting a coup against Gorbachev and end this glasnost nonsense? Or perhaps a terrorist hellbent on jihad? The choices and scenarios are endless and the amount of chaos, political dealing, and deceit are boundless.

Good luck comrade. Truly this is a brave new world.

The post-Soviet thing was kinda tried with Baltonia, but it didn't really work. And by 1990, the dissolution of the USSR was already a fait accompli so there wouldn't be much for the CCCP old guard to do.

It wasn't assured until the August coup. You forget that Gorbachev was going to sign a treaty with most of the SSR's to retain the Soviet Union as a more federal entity. The date set for the signing was August 20th, 1991. As fate would have it, the August coup attempt occurred and Gorbachev lost all political power as Yeltsin essentially had lead the resistance to the coup. Defeated politically, the USSR was doomed to fall after the coup.

Beforehand, however, only several republics had seceded. In fact, the March referendum had shown widespread support for the Soviet Union in the remaining member republics. It was boycotted only in the Caucuses and the Baltic.

The old guard comes into play if they had successfully overthrown the government. Had lethal force been used earlier and the leadership not waffled on Yeltsin, it's likely the old guard would've remained in control of at least the RFSR.

"Aurentina stark en freer!" I've never been patriotic, but Aurentina is the one nation I'd die for. The one mafia infested, gun saturated, and umlaut prevalent nation.
I started NS on Nov 6, 2011. I accidentally let my original nation die.
