"A new sword?" she said, holding up a carbon-fibre sword edged with titanium, crackling with electricity.

He draws the dual sabres he uses. These are unlike more modern cavalry sabres however, and more like what you see in Mount and Blade "First of all, i dual wield. Second of all, not my style of sword." The blades, while worn and covered in all sorts of crap, are still rather decorative.
