Not necessarily. Manufacturing is the highest-paying job most people can obtain without a college degree, so if we allow our manufacturing to be outsourced via the liberalization of markets with developing nations, we are voluntarily destroying income. This destruction of income will hurt consumers more, as it will force them into low-paying, low-benefits jobs.

Our manufacturing? What manufacturing? I thought we were mostly agrarian nordic state shifting into a modern service society. Our strength is probably not manufacturing.

"Voluntarily destroying income." Lol. You know what is also destroying income? The rising prices caused by tariffs on their customers, which are primarily Dagmarians. What jobs? Our jobs that tariffs destroy? Please educate yourself first.

Unfair trade practices I would support, wages are not our concern unless they are breaking the law of the country concerned, that's not unfair that's the free market.

No, because putting a tariff on another country not only invites them to put a tariff back on us, but also doesn't help the workers, since they need economic liberalization in order to make a living, otherwise the factory shuts down and they are unemployed. A tariff on another country means a tax on their earnings, except without even a democratic consensus.

Don't we prioritize Dagmar instead of foreign countries?

Yes. And free trade does just that. Ever heard that trade benefits all nations regardless of whether they have any sort of advantages or not?

Putting this back up there:

Party Platform

Economy:

The Golden Civics are a pro market party that prefers market solutions when they are available. We believe in strengthening property rights in order to ensure that the economy is strong and robust, and the government should intervene as little as realistically possible in the marketplace. We oppose any bailouts, subsidies, or tariffs that do not do anything to make our nation more prosperous or free. We support unilateral free trade, but we oppose free trade deals do nothing to advance free trade and only advance the interests of a certain industry or sector. The Golden Civics support private sector unions and believe collective bargaining should be between the business and union, not the government.

Welfare & Taxation:

While taxation is a necessary evil for any state to function, we believe that taxes should be low and simple. We support find alternative ways for the government to fund itself, such as a tax on land value instead of property or a tariff on immigration to raise revenue without significantly harming the economy. In addition, we support the implementation of a graduated negative income tax for the most impoverished, and a higher tax threshold for the poor. We also support a requirement to enroll in a job training program or an education program in order to collect government benefits.

Finance:

The Golden Civics believe the government should set up savings accounts for government agencies so they can save excess amounts of money for the future. Likewise, we believe in establishing a Sovereign Wealth Fund and an Emergency Fund to protect against the unforeseeable. When a budget surplus occurs, that the extra money should either go in the Sovereign Wealth Fund, Emergency Fund, or back to the tax payers. Finally, we support the creation of a Swiss-like "debt brake" in order to control government spending so that the government won't dip into these emergency funds and only spend what money it can gain from it's revenues.

Social & Domestic Policy:

The Golden Civics are for individual rights and believe the government should not interfere in the personal lives of people as much as possible. We support Free Speech and are opposed to censorship in all cases. We support the full legalization of cannabis and marijuana. We also believe in decriminalizing sex-work and prostitution. While both proponents and opponents of abortion are in good faith, we believe that this issue can only be resolved if the government is taken out of it's dictation. Finally, we believe this right guarantees the individual defend themselves from harm, including the right to use lethal force if it requires it.

Immigration Policy:

A regulated border policy is a necessity for any state to logically control it's sovereignty. We support deporting immigrants who commit crimes or otherwise disrupt the harmony of our society. That being said, in order to implement these principles we understand that there should be a simple, non-complicated path to citizenship, and that illegal immigrants should be treated as unwanted guests and not felons. Finally, we endorse policies that require immigrants to pay into the system before taking anything out, and that citizenship should be a benefit to those who prove their hard work and loyalty.

Defense & Foreign Policy:

Our party favors peace over war, and prefers to make friends and trade partners with other nations before becoming enemies with them. However, if a foreign power were to take aggressive actions against our great nation, we would wholly support any effort to defend ourselves and the fine people of our country. We support keeping a small well rounded military for defense.

Healthcare and Education:

The Golden Civics endorses the option that makes education and healthcare the most affordable and widespread to all. We believe that adding a competitive element to education and healthcare would increase individual decision making and therefore reduce costs across the board. Parents should have the right to send their kids to whatever school they want and how they want to educate their children. Likewise, we believe that the opinion of the patient - and not a bureaucrat - should be the final decision in healthcare, and that individuals should be free to choose any healthcare providers from within the current system.

Justice and Law:

The Golden Civics believe in a strict right to privacy, and are against mass public state surveillance and national DNA databases of our citizens. We support the idea of innocence until proven guilty, and we support habeas corpus and Miranda rights. We support the idea of a fair trial and the right to a lawyer. We are opposed to eminent domain, unwarranted search and seizures, and the militarization of the police force.

Energy and the Environment:

The Golden Civics support an All-Of-The-Above energy policy. We oppose public subsidies to the energy sector, believing that the energy market should compete fairly. We support the continued existence of a national park system, but believe that some parks should privatized through sale of parklands to private owners who pledge to sustainably use the land.

Can I have a motion to adopt this retooling of the platform?

Also, would you guys be opposed to joining Liberal International or the International Alliance of Libertarian Parties? A vote might be worth it.

I dislike the bullets, because it makes too many outright stances (which may be misconstrued as promises) instead of providing a general blueprint or overview of the party. Most people who join a party do not necessarily agree with all of it's bullet points, and if we explicitly say too much on our platform, we may regret it in the end. Also, lots of parties have small texts under their policy positions, these are fairly straightforward and are easy to read.

I am not sure if I can start supporting that program, the effects of SS would likely be able to debase the currency too quickly, and ruin the minimal state status that we have now. Do we want an average "minimum wage" of $20 USD now, or kill that opportunity and have to implement a real minimum wage down the road. I know what i prefer.

The moral argument is that people are smarter and wiser than the government on how to spend their own money.

Why would a party of libertarians sponsor this bill? Please don't take that personally.

The GC isn't purely libertarian, we are rather a broad camp of the socially tolerant "right wing," if such a label could describe us.

That being said, I think it would be hard to find anyone here that would sponsor that bill.
