-Antic Order soldier near Mechanocracy-occupied Banyuwangi

"Banyuwangi was only an exception. If Fegelein wasn't that dumb and could actually use more conventional antics (and actually know the russophile offensive being planned at the very moment in that area), they could have saved energy to shoot down a few Baikonurs before being nuked. Also, how the fuck the local civilians didn't organize resistance is beyond me and I certainly didn't see any Antic going on."

"In a true meritocratic society, the most capable are given rewards and duties in keeping with their output, but that does not mean legal protections cannot be extended to all on equal terms."

-- Julissa Hickman, Citizen.

"In a meritocratic society, the strong and the capable are bound by duty to the weak and the incapable. The weak, bluntly put, are carried on the backs of the strong. Yes, there are rewards to be had, such as power, wealth, and some measure of privilege, but in the end the strong man is not elevated so that he may step on the weak, but so that he may guarantee their safety. If he should happen to lose his way and seek only to advance his own power, then he is torn down and cast into the mud where he belongs."

"The definition of meritocracy is rule by those who earn their power through ability, it has jack shit to do with 'the strong helping the weak', its about the best ruling the rest and if that means sending the weak to the gallows and dragging them there if they dwardle that is entirely compatible with Meritocracy. It may very well disagree with the moral diktats of the sky-jew or the omnipotent lawyers of New York: but that does not make it any less a Meritocracy and insisting otherwise is plain idiocy.

Likewise Britain is not a Meritocracy and any jumped up socialist who tries to use Britain to somehow discredit Meritocracy is an idiot, in Britain leadership is selected based on a popularity contest and thus favours those who have just enough ability to keep things the same but not an iota of intellect to question that status quo. One cannot be a Democracy and a Meritocracy the two terms are wholly exclusive, if you even remotely believe that those with ability should rule you should set your face like flint against those who passionately believe society should be governed by naught but mass consent with no remote regard for talent.

Furthermore any self-respecting Meritocracy must be able to legitimately tell itself that those who are at the top genuinely are so on merit. Not, for example, on wealth. So long as wealth determines merit and not vis versa no true Meritocracy is possible. Given wealth is frequently passed down arbitrarily and verily can be earned thusly also, it is laughable to presume a Meritocracy will remain true in a wholly laissez-faire society. The Meritocrats must swiftly bring business to heel but limit its intervention solely to providing equal competition between individuals. It is indefensible to believe an heirling educated at the finest public schools via the aid of private tutors and the third daughter of heroin junkies living in council housing could both be said to have earned their fates by their merits. This is by no means an attack upon the individual, it is a defense of the individual. Under Capitalism arbitrary social conditions such as these are allowed to subordinate the individual and hence weaken the cause of individualism giving the socialists fodder to abolish it all together."

"Meritocracy is what you get when you eliminate excessive inheritance, private schooling, and all child poverty, including ensuring all children have nutritious meals and adequately large houses, so that being 'born-well' doesn't give you an unfair advantage. The next step is to place limits on high-end pay and enforce a high minimum wage, then create an adequate welfare state and free healthcare system, to ensure that people's work is actually being rewarded for what it's worth, and not for how little they are willing to work for when the alternative is starvation, or how much they can reward themselves with once they make it to the gravy train, and so that a freak illness or injury doesn't result in unearned penury. Next you need strong unions, so that a work-dispute isn't being fought one-on-one, with a massive corporation with a fleet of lawyers and inexhaustible money and influence on one side, and one single underpaid worker on the other... I mean, those are Goldberg vs V.K. Wallstreet odds. Next you'll need a strongly-funded system of legal-aid, so that the law isn't a two-class system, and money doesn't buy you justice... Look at the companies like Apple who blatantly ripped off the exact design for the iPod from a university student's idea in the 80's, when it was merely an academic exercise, and then turned around and sued Samsung for creating 'a tablet computer with Apple's trademark rectangle with rounded corners design.'

All in all, it takes a lot of work to even get close to meritocracy... Surely the closer we get the better, as a fairer world is no doubt worth building? Or perhaps theres' a limit... Perhaps no one's actually talented enough to legitimately and fairly earn the fortune required to fund the building of a new cable-network or a new satellite-design, or even a new Ribbleshead Viaduct... Or maybe these super-projects could be funded by co-operatives in the future, who knows, or indeed cares, we're far from there now. The fact remains that if a person sat on the modern equivalent of a gold throne carried by slaves says that the only thing required for meritocracy is 'Government leaving well alone,' they fly in the face of basic logic, common sense and established fact, and should be ignored, regardless of how many ads they pay for or conservative stooge politicians they pay to elect."
