"If Ashley Madison were around in Las Palmeras before Industrialization...or in those rural areas...there wouldn't be any killed or any suicides. There would be countless of those sniveling motherfuckers with cigarette burns in their hands though regardless of gender if they really felt bad about their disgusting lives, see we were always a tolerant but moderate country! No honor killings but no family-hating perversions like those coward Anglos!
...
Hahaha! Ha! José has that Spanish look from his great-grandpa! Maybe one needs more time to make an effective burn, you should try twisting the butt- Tsuneko though- Your paper-white skin would fry instantly, the back of your hand would resemble a polka-dot set!"

-Montse Zorilla's drunken humor

"Actually those sites are blocked in Las Palmeras..., basically every major party and the two leftist fringe ones sternly pressured the Media Regulation Bureau on the platform in disrupted the base unit of society, family. I heard Singapore did the same thing. Imported East Asian jailbait products and '18' year olds in risqué magazines are legal though much to my unremitting horror.

Actually...until the 1870s; for public amusement those people were always tormented in a circus-like setting before they were told they'd burn in Hell unless they humiliated themselves in public some more. Fun for the whole family."

"When Schrödinger, Heisenberg and others began to suspect what would later be known as the uncertainty principle that underpins most of Quantum Mechanics, Einstein was dead against it. He believed it incomplete and yearned for a system. Even as the uses proliferated themselves through science and became accepted as useful, Einstein stubbornly refused. Why? Well for all his vain attempts at factual disagreement, scientific grounds had little to do with it. It was because Einstein was driven by the idea of some kind of quasi-pantheistic "reality" which encompassed all experience, an idea Quantum Mechanics runs contrary to. Science is by far one of the most objective and useful tools of man, but it is just that-a tool, tools are wielded by the users and those users will be subject to the same drives and biases which stymie all human endeavor. The man of action acts only in the dreams of the man of thought."

"Moral guardians often like to pretend they are for 'personal responsibility', but their narrative is effectively one where people are encouraged to blame their faults on society and humans are relegated to essentially conformist animals incapable of making their own choices. Let us take video games as an example, kid spends 72 hours slaying prostitutes and sleeping with dragons then decides to go and take Popsy's gun to school. A true believer in responsibility would say that's his own bloody fault and he should be punished for it. The moralist however has the perfect solution, "No, no." They tell the negligent parent "...its not your fault jimmy just exterminated Year 6! Its the nasty, nasty vile people who produce these horrid games he plays!" If people are only being "good" because they're being shielded from the bad, then can you really even claim to be defending that (vulgar fiction) called morality?"

Postby Surawi » Tue Sep 15, 2015 2:25 pm

The modern Kebatinist movement started by Ustad Tunku Abdulbari was a reboot of traditional pre Islamic beliefs and more specifically, the philosophy of ultra-orthodox Buddhist thought that were remnants of the former Theravada Buddhist city states of the Surak isles. Of which was back then a vassal state to Srivijaya and later on Majapahit, alongside a rather esoteric interpretation of Islamic thought and the idea of the Batin. While the rest of said two empires were Hindu-Buddhist syncretist empires, the city states of Surak had more influence from the then already Theravada Khmers and Thais, as the city states were largely neglected as vassal states and were already quasi independent since settlement by seafaring Austronesian tribes.

In the most orthodox form of Buddhism that was practiced in the former Surak city states, it was widely accepted that the core of good and noble existence was following the doctrines of the noble eightfold path and the four noble truths, as well as core teachings. There wasn't much else to it, of course stupas and temples were built, but it was out of respect and purely for the sake of respect of the founder and the Sangha. Pre-Islamic Surawi was, like much of the surrounding regions, influenced by the Hindu-Buddhist traditions of the Indian subcontinent. This can be seen even today with the performances of the epic, Ramayana and early shrines, temples, stupas, and architecture. However due to the somewhat arguable 'insignificance' (to the Srivijayan and Majapahit Empires) and the city state nature of Surawi, trade with Theravada Kingdom of Ayutthaya and Khmer Empire, increased the emphasis on Theravada Buddhism and has left a unique mark on the islands, notably in the religious practices and philosophy.

Of course, when the city states were united under the clan of Salim as the Surawijaya Sultanate and Islam was introduced to the Buddhist laity, the various traditions of Buddhism such as meditation and the idea of mindfulness, were carried on as methods on how to get to the 'hidden' and closer to Allah (سبحانه و تعالى). The spread and acceptance of Islam was rather slow and Surawijaya became a melting pot of Islamic and Buddhist teachings, and thus, the first of the Ke Batinan orders came to be. It was debated now even back then whether or not these Ke Batinan are genuine Muslims, but it was systematic and showed more similarities to traditional, Indian Sufi traditions. Nowadays the practice of Ke Batinan is prevalent throughout Surawi, but is less organized and has largely become more orthodox and in line with mainstream Sunni Islam of the Shafi'i school of jurisprudence or were absorbed by the Modern Kebatinist movement started by Tunku Abdulbari.

Now on to the nitty gritty aspects of these esoteric orders, and how they were revived accordingly in the 20th century.

The Batin in Islam was the esoteric and the spiritual, the unseen and the hidden from regular lives, from the visible and rather noisy life we as individuals partook in. Ke Batinan or simply Kebatinan has similarities to the Javanese Kebatinan, but all the similarities end with the practice and methodology. Notably on the role of prayer and meditation as a means to get closer to Allah (swt) rather than practice of more orthodox methods. Meditation is particularly important as it 'opens up' the mind for Allah (swt) to be experienced on a more personal manner. Meditation is a method in Suravese kebatinan, and is not permissible to meditate without former knowledge; namely the Shariah, the Tariqah, and the Marifa as it is considered the final step of Haqiqah. Although this is contested by religious scholars and historians as meditation could be a method used during attainment of Marifa, but that's a whole other debate. This was how Islam in Surawi was spread, by implementing Sufi traditions on top of already existing Buddhist practices, and basically adding another layer. While Islam in it's orthodox form was practiced by a notable few, this esoteric order of Islam was pretty much practiced everywhere by the laity and a few small orders sprung up, notably the Hansakims and Osmalials, but over time they faded away for more orthodox traditions come the turn of the century and the end of colonial rule. Note, this is seen by more orthodox Muslims in Surawi as a form of heresy, which was a primary reason why it was revived by Ustad Tunku Abdulbari as a modernized and structured methodology.

Ustad Tunku Abdulbari revived Kebatinan as the Kebatinist Movement as a response to the puritanical post colonial Islam practiced in Surawi, as well as in protest of the military appointed Sultan, Ishaq IV. The movement began in the 60s first as a revivalist pan Islamist party, with the main supporters being the Sulaiman faction of the royal family (Salim), intellectuals, liberals, and of course the clans of Hansakim and Osmalial. With the overthrow of the democratic government in fears of communists and Islamists and the re-institution of an quasi absolute monarch, and the subsequent expulsion of Abdulbari's party and the Sulaiman faction, as well as mass executions of opponents, the remnants of the movement were taken by rural farmers and remained underground operating as an anti-government force. This was crucial during the Islamic revival of the 70s, as orthodoxy became the norm, the Kebatinists evolved into a modernist Islamist movement that took in aspects of modern Islamism, alongside the philosophy of Abdulbari (which was influenced by traditional Kebatinan and Buddhism), and eventually dominated the rural areas as well as the undercover elites.

The movement is rather controversial as Abdulbari himself has been attacked on the basis of his philosophy, which is arguably more syncretist than the traditional Kebatinan. However it was this movement that arguably singlehandedly brought down the tyrannical military regime of Ishaq IV, and it's roots are inseparable from Suravese culture. Nowadays it operates as a third party organization called Darul Ulum Al Batin in a few countries other than Surawi, and usually operating outside of politics. It also is not all that different from the mainline in practice, with just a few differences. The criticism of the organization mainly comes from radical Islamists and orthodox followers of Islam, and mostly it's out of misunderstanding.

―Hj. Dr. Ishak Sani Hansakim, President of the Darul Ulum Al Batin

"The horse population in Allancia peaked in 1911, three years after the modern automobile was invented. Pack horses were replaced with trucks, carriages with cars, cavalry with motorbikes and tanks. Furthermore, the invention of fat based glue led many of them to be slaughtered for their industrial application. The age of the four-legged beast seemed to be at an end.
However, providence had different plans. With the invasion of Starzia, the cost of hauling gasoline and trucks across a universe became more and more difficult. Horses, which had been put to pasture (so to speak), were taken from their millet fields and set to work. As the war mounted and military production went with it, more and more resources were poured into the production of cheaper dimensional shipping mechanisms. Tanks and trucks were sent across in massive rocket flotillas, making them purposeless once more. The invasion of Bruhnia is coming steadily along, with horses in the countryside being used for feeding troops and being melted down into glue to hold guns and uniforms together. I fear that the death of cavalry is finally upon us.
