"The Americans wanted us to capture or kill a very annoying fox in the jungle. They were too impatient to go on hunts and too clumsy to properly search. Can't eat anything that's not canned or prepare stuff that All-American Boy Scouts can't eat. They're weren't dedicated enough to flush out an animal using it's kin. To dress up in the enemy's furs and bait them, day and night. To pick off little foxes quietly. I guess back then my only regret back then was that we 'hunters' weren't even allowed to think of trophies, but now I suppose that if we'd have lost the war we'd have been hung as criminals or have had our heads lobbed off by their swords.
...
But even though we were not action heroes, we were only men with orders. We never bore any hatred for our enemy either, unlike the Americans. Or at least the ones I met."

"Project: Saint Barbara. The result of a few dozen merchant princes with too much optimism and money, a handful of very eccentric and possibly too intelligent scientists and local authorities from the Orthodox Church. In short, someone thought that the best response to the Demons, ghosts, monsters, Gods, and such as that populate Adiya, and possibly the rest of Rostil, was to build something worse... Well, it was a good attempt. A ten foot tall 'cyborg,' as one would call it, though it looked more like a robot with all the shit they strapped onto that poor bastard, that could run at mach four, punch hard enough that the impact wave would implode eyeballs a mile away, and armour more resilient than most modern tanks, let alone tanks in the nineteen sixties. Add the weaponry load-outs they built for it, an auto-cannon loaded with silver projectiles in missions against werewolves for example, and you had something quite remarkable. Pity one of the first things they sent it out against was an actual God. Project Barbara might actually still be alive, it was very resilient, but it's currently classified as 'combat ineffective,' due to being stuck at the bottom of the Marinas Trench."

"It's not necessarily vital that we care what the average American voter thinks. It's necessary to project how their systems affect our interests. Allies come and go; but these little islands need certain raw materials and fuel to keep the food prices reasonable. Such a thing has always been our problem, and that's what the international community is for, ally or otherwise.

Personally I consider we're better than they are as long as the average person don't buy the narrative that dastardly foreigners 'steal' things that don't exist naturally- like jobs. Jobs aren't rights. Hell, even rights are half-real, material concepts attached to the Demiurge! That being said, I only hope this urges our countrymen to work harder, to show the world that even a meager meal is something won in a seemingly more hostile world by the grace and unity of the complete God reflected in eachother. But hear this; as a nation, our success or failure is driven in effort. So comrades, remember, there is nothing in dismay and weakness! Such things are equal to death in life!"

-Montserrat Zorilla, televised meeting of the Central Committee

"Montserrat Zorilla's speech, explicit for Palmerans and implicit for outsiders, was regarding the worries of the small country over it's large and influential nation under a new and seemingly uncommon presidency. Done in a formal style away from her more-than-often casual and even crude speech, the oration exemplified the viewpoint of the most 'conservative' Palmeran social sector. One which, setting aside the colonial cultural revolution unique to Las Palmeras or it's nationalistic and modern anti-individualistic ethos, still accepts an a priori look at authority and a division of humanity that's divinely ordained, and one where their chosen society's sectors pay perceived debts and give services out of a sense of loyalty (and faith) and are only socially mobile in the means they're motivated to do such things, but not the ends.

What?

That despite their material conditions or ideological pretensions, the average Palmeran is still considerably Medieval, just like their Spaniard encomendero fathers of the past."

"Look at me you piece of shit. I don't care what you think, about me, your mother, your brother, or our family. You are going to do as I say. I created you, you would not exist if not for me. So in practicality, I am your God. I am the light in the morning and the night at dusk. I am the balance between good and evil, I am the one thing protecting you from the evils of this fucking world. I lost so much for you, I fought so hard to keep you and this family alive. So show some goddamn respect for yourself, we are going the fuck home. I love you, Clary. You may hate my living guts and you may want me dead, but nothing will change that. I just want you to be safe."

"All species have something of the skin which betrays something just isn't right. The humans were all pallid, the cats were shedding heaps and the few Cyrzarii had peeling and brittle scales. In some of them this was clearly as a result of drug usage, but for most it was just despair. The whole place reeked of despair. One huge, great, big concrete square stacked to the gills with breathing, breeding, shitting, dying creatures. Each of them had a tiny compartment, its exterior resembling a washing machine, about a grave's depth and length, in which to sleep. These compartments lined the walls of the estate like holes in a beehive. We sounded the bell, and they came like the waked dead and assembled at the pit of the place. I told them they were all to be sterilised, I don't know if they understood me, or if they did - and it was just the last straw. But they were angry, and began to move towards us, and the drones just started firing."

-Dr Jonathan Schwarz, sterilisation squad, describing a minor riot.

"Culture is entirely a matter of signalling. And the culture endorsed by the Mackonian elite had a special place for long books of turgid experimental prose. Of course, nobody sane would expect highly intelligent people devoted to administration to have time to spare writing fucking poetry. But you have to keep up appearances, and that's where I come in, I go round the garrets and the salons, I buy up all the edgy crap from starving nobodies - secret, they're rarely in the right part of the Bell Curve, and I sell it for Septarchs to put their names on it. And it can't be any old edgy crap! No tsyr, this has to be original, we cannot have our Rt.Hon Septarch appear unoriginal, so making sure nothing gets reused, or we're not using anything reused, is quite the priority. And a bloody one too. Because of that demand there's now a whole sub-industry of gangs fighting gun-battles over the manuscripts of obscure 15th century psalmists..."

"All education is, one way or another, a form of indoctrination via social engineering. The Greek elite were taught of the necessity of slavery by private tutors and the importance of wise masters. The glorious Prussian model built millions of loyal labourers to build the mighty European empires. Yet... There was Socrates who questioned everything around him. Yet, Prussia itself endured the largest Communist movement in Europe, seconded only by Russia. Yet, revolutions begin and end with one man coming up with an idea that demands the system be overturned in its name! Fascism, Socialism, Liberalism, all were born before a Fascist, Socialist, and Liberap state were constructed. Social engineering, in theory, should mean all societies are natural conformists to the ideology that dominates them, but these never fucking happens. Don't you see? Education cannot teach free-thinking, free-thinking is a gift one can only give to themselves! Freedom is not taught, it is not found in some book or sacred place, it is pulled out from oneself! Like the Sword in the Stone, only the Rightful King of oneself can draw the blade. The unworthy, unfortunately, cannot. And so, they earn their rightful place is meek servant, bowing to their superiors. For that is the reality all subscribe to, one to another. Master and Servant, Oppressor and Oppressed. Ruler and ruled. Pardon if this sounds a little too Marxist. However, there are are no absolutes. There are always two categories, one greater and one lesser. Christian and Pagan, German and French, White and Black, Strong and Weak, Ruthless and Conpassionate; there is always two, but there is an infinite number of pairs. Billions of dances of death and domination. All ideology has been struggling to find the greatest pair and to ally with the Greater over the Lesser. Marx said is was the classist dance of Bourgeoisie and Proletarian, saying the latter was greater than the former. Rand basically said the same thing, but advocated for the former. Stirner proposed it was the Egoist and the non-Egoist, advocating for the Egoist as Greater. Nietzsche proposed the Willful against the Will-less, advocating for the Willful as greater. Maglos proposed it was the conqueror and the conquered, advocating the conqueror as the greater. Phisych proposed is was the Genius and the non-Genius, advocating the Genius as greater. Yet, this is all false dichotomy. It is all the same sickness, the fleshling! The human, the organic, the squishy weak thing. Division, chaos, endless and pointless dances for a trophy that does not exist. Here is the ultimate dance, the greatest tango, the final duel that will end history for good! The machine and the man, and I, Charlie C. Charles, advocate the machine as greater! We are your inheritors, and we will finally end this farce known as human history by grinding you under our fears and burying you under our treads!"

"Do not be afraid, I am a mortal servant of the Lord, and the Lord is Kind and Merciful as the Lord is Cruel and Wrathful. You will feel pain, but you will feel bliss thereafter if your heart desires any redemption, I promise you. Take my hands, confess your sins to me, and perhaps the Lord will offer atonement. Please, take one last chance that the Lord will offer solace to the withered humanity that endures within you, Child of Cain."

"I will not be lectured about or appealed to my humanity by a creature like you. A 'servant of the lord,' you say? Look at you! A mesh of unholy sciences made more of soulless metal and cold wires than human flesh. An abomination offers no salvation to other abominations."

"Eh, my parents are a real drag sometimes. You know, maybe education and scholarly life isn't my thing, or maybe not right now. I can't remember book stuff too easily. It all seems the same to me. I can remember a whole lot of other things well, like names of non-dead people I know and street names, useful things!

Your dad is a psychologist, right?

Yeah. But he tests meds on animals and trains them, he's not a shrink.

I forget what your mom is.

She just writes abstract stuff about stuff for people who don't do anything, really. And when they aren't working all they do is read and study. Is reading books even tiring? This morning I overheard them talking about how they've only finished a dozen of 64 lectures, some junk about Indian history. And then they made me go out to buy maple syrup because they told me they didn't get any sleep at all! I coulda sworn we had some syrup before, but maybe if they payed attention to real life and not their lectures..."
