Charlette smiles wanly. "I did. You were just too lonely to leave be."

"It is. You are much too proud a being to be brought so low." Charlette replied, resisting the urge to pinch CC's cheek. "I remembered how to do dark magic. Makes me a bit less helpless, though the results are about as devastating to me as they are to the targets."

Charlette shakes her head at Torr. "Okay, so I am not entirely okay, but I know what I am doing. I am still in control, I am still 100%. I'm just a bit more tired and a bit more weak for a while."

It had been a few days since she had seen much of the holy warrior, and that was the most welcome thing she had to think about, especially since it was also juggling matters of dying, being hurt badly, and maintaining a child.
For weeks on end, the baby in Sa'ach's pack has been jostled, ignored, and generally ill kept. This woman was a person of moving goods after all, and had no experience with human trafficking nor with parenting, despite the wide array of things she has sold and traded including herself on occasion. On most adults, this sort of constant distress and treatment would be near mind-breaking. And this divine child, who couldn't have been much more than a year old at most, had the self-control that only uncanny ability could provide. But even that, eventually, broke.
Two noteworthy things begin to happen. Firstly, the baby began to wail, letting out quite a bit of emotional energy that had been pent up behind her calm demeanor and silence. Sa'ach sighed. "Well, fuck me. Nowhere to run and I'm pro'lly out of lies... I think my retirement plans will just have to be put on the backburner for another life."
The second, and much more noticeable of the two things is that, near the opposite side of the camp where bodies were kept, one of the most intact ones (presumably dead from starvation) starts screaming at the top of its decaying lungs, "MURDERER!", not moving a muscle other than it's jaw and vocal chords from its place atop the pile awaiting cremation. People sleepily walk out from their tents to see the commotion, a universal curiosity taking hold. After a brief pause, "MURDERER!" punctuates the morning again. The same corpse screamed, its cheeks flecked with blood and phlegm from the sheer power that was forced through it. "MURDERER!" It then fell silent, its throat utterly destroyed, but still mouthing the word with an unworldly determination.
"JUDGEMENT!" another demanded, one much worse off that the first. At a glance, the blood coming from its mouth dark and sickly looking and the fur coming off in patches.Nobody would make the mistake of thinking it a living thing. It's demand was repeated a few more times.

Sa'ach looked vacantly at the holy warrior, blinking a few times. Without a word, she did a quick survey of her surroundings, and much to her disappointment there was no fires nearby. Not that she really expected to pull off the same trick three times in a row, but at this point being around one definitely gave her a sense of emboldenment.
She shies away from the holy warrior, holding the child close to her. "Afraid not. She's sickly, and your dealings with the sick and wounded might expose her to something worse."

"It's not as if I don't wash myself. Besides, I insist... the child sounds Arkadacian. Chances are it'd prefer the scent of a cousin species than an unrelated one, yes?"

"I'm the mother." She replied flatly, trying to ignore the first part of what the Prevytian said.

"Bull-" Sa'ach started, before groaning. "And you obviously already know me." She glared at the holy warrior. "And my refugee disguise is better than your acquisition techniques." She grumbled to herself afterward, "As if smugglers were distinctive in the first place, it's our JOB to not be noticed."
She seems very upset that her disguise was seen through, even to the point of not entirely recalling all that is on the line in this situation. She put more than a small effort into it.

She seems to frown at saying that and sighs, dropping the Pravyetian accent, slipping into a neutral, vaguely Reilish one. "So I'm full of crap too, if that's any condolence. My brother's the, eh... agent, that's been chasing you the past few weeks. I caught wind of that through his loose lips and decided that it'd be better if you ran into me than his... other sibling. Caza's violent and generally kind of an unpleasant person."
Nyreen sighs. "So I'm trying to help you, in some weird, roundabout way."
