I feel like this shouldn't be an admin choice, and should be left up to our high courts. Unless admins are that again.

That's a good point, actually. This could be handled ICly and present a bit of an issue for the government to deal with.

EDIT: But admins are the Supreme Court according to the NJA. We could still do an IC ruling from that position if people like.

On the one hand, I could just have each player make a single response and just use that data as is. On the other hand, part of the analysis of those polls is breaking down information about the respondents and analyzing how backgrounds affect opinions, and we are skewed heavily towards male demographics. Anyone have any thoughts on how to balance that out since our population is probably far closer to fifty-fifty split in the sexes?

Anyone else have thoughts on generating polling data? Any other demographics that may be skewed in some way and how to best compensate for them?

Not really, if a type of law is not legal then it's judgments are not legal and firstly nobody has to follow them and secondly any enforcement of supposed judgments would possibly be crimes. Sharia court rules man must pay $10,000 say. The court has no legal power to do that and if it' tries to take it it is committing theft. Court orders a prison term then enforcing that would count as kidnap and illegal detention. It can't operate unless it's made legal as it's breaking the law with every judgement otherwise.

If we're going to say that city councils have no power, than the whole Lola Mendoza RP wouldn't be able to happen either. I say we allow them to exist for the time being, as long as they don't go off and defy already established national law.

Yes according to GEA only parliament and the national government may make laws unless we pass a bill saying otherwise. We have not done that so the councils bill on the mines has no legal standing.

Unless someone is enforcing them. If a group passes laws and starts another group to follow through with those and another group to fund them, that's a government, no matter how small.

It's a lot of things but it's not a legitimate government and the activities will be broken up by the police and those who have broken laws will be charged.

Illegitimate governments aren't criminal when they aren't resisting the government they're under. At worst they're not recognized, at best they're left alone. If the police went after every club with their own bylaws, our prisons would be more packed than those in the United States.

After lengthy deliberation, we admins have come to our decision on the position of the Centralised Police Authority in accordance with the Policing Establishment and Powers Act. We have considered each candidate's record of contributions to the RP, their handling of authoritative power, and most importantly their policing knowledge and familiarity with policing procedures. No candidate was involved with the decision making process. By a 3-1 vote, the admins have selected Kouralia to fill the post.

For the city court, and trials in which there are city prosecutors and what not, I think that would be ok. Is there more depth to this?

Yes it would.

But all tribunals in Calaverde are answerable to the High Court of Appeal, which would throw any ruling based on religion out the window in a heartbeat, without as much as a hearing.

I think three admins are automatically judges for appeals court and all admins (including those three in appeals) are judges for supreme court.
