Their job is to prosecute cases in a court room not investigate crimes. Bar summoning witnesses and people to give evidence and asking the police to have a look down a certain line of inquiry I can't think why they should be the ones that actually do the investigating on the ground. You know prosecutor has a thought, they ask the police to pursue it, the police go away and do that and then come back with what they find. what sort of thing were you imagining?
