Thomás is a senator for the New Democrats, and is 53 years old. He was born in a relatively rural, and poor area of Calaverde, and learned his first trade as a farmer. As a farmer in rural Calaverde, his life was not easy, but after the death of his father he came to be the owner of the farm, and tilled the land just as his father did for six long years until he was approached by an oil conglomerate who attempted to buyout his land, especially the uncultivated parts, to prospect for salt. He caved in to the increasing demand and pressure placed on him and sold his farmland to the conglomerate and moved to San Cristobal and used the money he received to begin attending San Cristobal University for Bachelor of Business Administration. At the age of 32 he completed his studies and was hired at the same firm which bought out his farm, becoming another member of the conglomerate. While working at the Salt Conglomerate, he met his wife Romana. Their relationship seemed natural and quickly they got married and had 3 children. By the time he was 35 he had three children: Merces, Rogelia, and Emir. Raising three children with the same traditional values instilled in him as a child he continued the tradition of social conservatism that the agricultural rural class usually has attributed to them. While his salary was raised and held a more prestigious position, he still viewed himself as a member of the agrarian community he grew up in. When he turned 44 he resigned his position and was elected to a municipal electoral board, where he helped manage his hometown of 1,500 people for 9 years until the general elections when he ran as a New Democrat for the Senate in Calaverde and won by a surprisingly large margin.
