Background: Rhodes was born in 1971 in Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire, England. Rhodes attended a grammar school since he was 9, and distinguished himself as an excellent scholar, and financial manager. Ever since his youth Rhodes was a fervent supporter of imperialism. Ever since he immigrated to Calverde his views grew even more radical, and he believed that Calverde should expand its borders no matter what the cost. His belief in expansion has made him popular amongst the radical right, who believe that Calverde should not be limited by the actions of others. Rhodes is also a fervent supporter of exploitation of other nations. However, he is not a racist. He believes that all citizens of Calverde no matter their race should be the masters of the world, and any man who is able to help Calverde in its goals of expansion should be considered a noble ally, and friend.

Background: Esteban Rafael Ruiz Ortega, shortened to Esteban Ortega, was born on February 5th, 1972, to Raul Ortega and Juliana Fortuna Ortega, in the Almonte, a township a few kilometers outside the western part of San Cristobal. As a child, Esteban was very active, and to this day is an avid football fan. When Esteban was fourteen years old, the nation was thrown into turmoil as the government was wiped out and the military took full control. Growing up, Esteban attended medical school to become a Doctor, but dropped out soon after. In the early nineties, he shifted career paths and studied in university to try and make a living as a teacher. After graduating Teacher's College in 1999, he taught at elementary schools in the capital before becoming a college world history professor at the University of San Cristobal in 2003. This occupation lasted until 2007, when the Civil War began to pick up, especially in the capital.

Esteban joined the rebel group Los Merodeadores in 2008, after his father's eyes were gouged out and his legs crippled when a Junta soldier tried to extract information about a potential connection with rebel forces. Esteban came out of the war with a kill count of 14, specializing in light machine guns and defensive fighting. He was grazed in the hip by a .308 sniper bullet in early 2010, and was back in action by Christmas. He left service in early 2012 to take care of what was left of his family after the war and crippling starvation brought on by blockades and sieges of different parts of the Capital area by different factions.

After the establishment of the new Calaverdean government, Esteban felt that he was not fit for teaching anymore. He dealt with minor PTSD for a good two years after he left active service, but has been able to deal with it through counseling. In 2014, Esteban registered with the Liberal Democratic Party, and won his party's nomination for his home district of Almonte. After the FDP occupant of the Almonte seat resigned abruptly due to a kidney cancer diagnosis, Esteban was elected with a 61% majority in the May 2015 election, snagging what was previously considered a safe seat. Esteban is a good friend of Prime Minister Sebastian Morales, as well as a LibDem insider involved in the internal runnings of the party, and as a result was brought on as Minister of Education on July 11th, following Zephaniah Kruger's departure and retirement from Parliament life. He was also made Chief Whip of the Liberal Democrats, elected unanimously by voting party MPs over the other candidate, Jean-François Rochefort, in anticipation of his by-election win. However, he resigned after the LDWR coalition was forced from government over a budget vote, losing him his position as Education Minister as well.
