Leave the libraries to the municipalities to fund.

No need for national libraries. Just don't. I am pretty sure municipalities deal with public libraries pretty much everywhere.

Perhaps someone could write a bill coercing municipalities to establish public libraries, but I agree that it makes sense for them to be funded on a municipal level.

But I feel that bill would be very short. Maybe a bill on basic things municipalities should fund.

Certainly we could have at least one national library, as a matter of national pride at least.

Yeah maybe a Library of the Senate, similar to the Library of Congress in the United States or the Parliamentary Library in Australia. Something big with neoclassical/beaux arts architecture.

Hey if we're going to be building it in the present we can't do it in a neoclassical style, it should be a huge brutalist slab of concrete.

You misspelled Gray and I think Bill Ayers books should be thrown in there as well a long with books by Karl Marx. Also throw in the Bible, Torah, and the Koran but that's my OOC atheist side speaking

It must be extremely leftist for Bill Ayers to be on the list of people they don't agree with.

Ridiculous. Fifty Shades of Gray is just some kink fetish, no need to ban it from the shelves of every library in the country. We're not the morality police, we shouldn't tell people they can't read Ayn Rand or Mein Kampf. They might be eye opening to some, and reading political literature helps our young develop a sense of where they stand in politics, whether it's a crazy libertarian or a crazy fascist, it's not our job to tell them they can't think that way, as long as we make sure they don't act in a violent or forceful way about it.

Yeah, you figured us out! We can't have people reading that darn 50 Shades of Grey because it teaches everyone about the greatness of guns and capitalism!

In no way does the bill say to restrict what our citizens read, this is just what they can and cannot get at a public library.

Still we should not limit the freedom of information of our people regardless of if it is controversial or not.

The bill is not limiting anyone's freedom in the least by taking these books of the government's shelves. That's like saying that not giving someone a 1,000 dollar paycheck every week is limiting their freedom. If people really wish to read Ayn Rand then they should get it from the private sector, they shouldn't be putting the cost of their reading interest onto the hardworking taxpayers.
