Welcome! You've joined at a fairly hectic time as we're currently in the middle of the nations first Presidential elections. I'm Eugenia Malgrave, the Presidential candidate for the Democratic Left and the coalition we have going with the Liberal Democrats. You can vote in this thread

Is this a social democratic party or a democratic socialist party?
Pick one or the other when you choose, I don't think parties that try to unite both will be successful or even worth my time.

We are a social democratic party that adheres to the following democratic socialist principles:

  • Democracy, comprised of regular and free elections, is of the utmost importance, including universal suffrage with a secret ballot.
  • All people have the same basic human rights, which must be protected and advanced by the State, regardless of race, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, religious faith, ethnicity, citizenship, political belief or disability.
  • We recognize that people may own wealth and property, individually or in groups, but when any conflict of interest arises, people and the environment will always be more important than property, and that the State must always ensure a fair and just distribution of wealth. The State reserves the right to bring business, industry, and other private property into public ownership - always with just compensation - if it is in the public interest.
  • The economy, society, and other affairs shall be managed in a fair and democratic manner, reflecting co-operation and mutual respect, rather than competition.
  • The State must do all in its power to advance democracy, human rights, and social justice, both at home and abroad.
  • The principles of egalitarianism, community, and solidarity are of the utmost importance in all economic, legal, social, cultural, and political spheres. All people should have equal access to these public spheres, and have a right to feel included in society.

Most of our members are social democrats, but our party has room for both the left and the centre-left and are committed to making our party as inclusive as possible. :)

It has taken us a while to build up steam but I believe we are witnessing the results of the hard campaign work put in by numerous party members. I hope that you are more active in the party in the future, the senate is really kicking into gear and we still have government positions to give out.

We've had economic policies authored, Atlanticatia has them. Otherwise, Social and Foreign Policy documents are yet to be submitted.

Does anyone know how to create an Espernet thing and we can then flesh policies out all serious like?

Also, I'd like to state that as Minister for Industry I would intend to forge a strong working relationship with the Labour Federation of Calverde, whilst also attempting to increase participation and co-operation between ourselves and the Labour Federation, to make sure that we truly represent the workers' voices, and that the trade union does likewise.

As a statement of intent I would like to put forward the following motion:

The Democratic Left will establish relations with the Labour Federation of Calverde and will move to directly back select non-revolutionary Unions within the federation.

I would also like to put forward the following motion:

The Democratic Left will establish a new party thread due to the inactivity of the owner of the original party admin account.
