I used to say 'sorry' a lot as well, but after a bit of self reflection I gradually stopped doing that. The word loses its meaning when it's one of your default responses, it's better to save its use for when you're truly sorry.

I tend to avoid such things by simply never telling them. I may have told more about myself on this forum over the years than might have been my intention, but I try to keep silent about certain personal subjects.
