As a P2TM Mentor, you have no choice but to be a shining example of good behaviour.

The II Mentors have IRC channels to unwind/swear at each other/make romantic passes so they are perfect little pictures of conformity in TET.

Come on Esty, shape up!

I used to say 'sorry' a lot as well, but after a bit of self reflection I gradually stopped doing that. The word loses its meaning when it's one of your default responses, it's better to save its use for when you're truly sorry.

In the more stereotypical polite countries it's difficult to be assertive, as it's against your nature. Northern Europe seems to be notorious for it. Unfortunately, a polite society also tends to also breed more than its fair share of cunts of the highest magnitude that exploit those habitual manners for their own amusement. Saving the apologies for when you're actually at fault is something quite crucial to learn these days.

Unfortunately there are also those who never believe they are at fault, those individuals also tend to be incapable of self-mockery. When somebody cannot laugh at him- or herself, I simply don't trust that person.

I agree with you, although I try to be acutely aware of the fact that some people just have their particular buzz topics, no matter how nonsensical or meaningless, that they just prefer not to bring up about themselves.

I tend to avoid such things by simply never telling them. I may have told more about myself on this forum over the years than might have been my intention, but I try to keep silent about certain personal subjects.

Aye, I know someone that says "sorry" a lot, up to the point where she says "sorry" when I tell her she should stop saying it so much.

It seems more of a reflex than something she does consciously.

I like sparrows. Sparrows are such delightful little birds, watching them hop around and picking at seeds always puts a smile on my face.

I may have seen more fragments of Dynasty back in the eighties than I like to admit. She might have made a fine president of the United States, but as far as I know she never had any political aspirations.

My roommate and his best friend went to fiddle with a car. This is the cutest thing ever. It's like they transform into kids who've just received the biggest toy in the world.
