What we call the self is the bundling of perceptions and actions and illusory possessions.

It can be beneficial this idea of the self, for the sake of sanity and worldliness. Or it can be detrimental, due to reckless lust and greed.

I resent that, San Cristobel is perfectly even-keel (and center) and Ruthenia will get better, they did just crawl out of a brutal civil war, dammit.
If I had avoided simplifying anything and listed everything on this thread individually and accurately, then that would have been a long and boring quote.

"Love me, hate me... You'll never forget me."

-PM Florimel 'Flossy' Gardner

"Justice Riesling, these two women both claim to be this baby boy's mother, and there is no evidence to disprove either claim."

"I see, you madam, you claim this child is yours?"

"Yes of course he's mine!"

"And you, you also claim this boy is your son?"

"Yes! She stole him from me! My poor little baby!"

"Ah, I know this one... Ahem, then I shall do the only fair thing, I shall cut this boy in half, and you can each have one half."

*Shouted in unison* "Nooo! Just give him to her!!" - "Nooo! Just give him to her!!"

"Ah...I was rather banking on only one of you saying that..."

"What?! Why would only one of us want you to not murder a child?!"

"Well, because then that would prove that she was the real mum... Because she cares more about the child's safety than to her claim to it's parenthood..."

"What are you talking about?! So the fake mum would just be fine with you slaughtering a child in front of her?!"

"Fuck sake! You do realise that the whole reason for this conversation is that we both like the child... We're quite keen on him. And neither of us, and no one else in this situation ever, would think: 'Ah well, I can't have a whole alive baby, I'll settle for half a dead one, and can you sharpen your sword first so it's a clean cut, I don't want ragged edges on my halve-baby corpse.'""

"How did you even become a judge?! You fucking moron!"

"Eleven years, two hundred and nine days. That's how long Margaret Thatcher held the premiership of Her Majesty's Government, making her the seventh longest-serving Prime Minister in British history, and one of the longest of her century. In most scholarly polls of Prime Ministers through history, she ranks in the top five. She weathered three elections, led her people to war against a hostile aggressor, was successful in negotiation with foreign powers, and when she finally was pushed to resign, handed her successor a majority in the Commons. For a woman the left claims is hated by literally everybody, that's actually quite impressive."

"Public schools do exist in the United States, but they are not handled at the Federal Government level, as a 1900 ruling of the U.S. Supreme Court ruled such to be a violation of U.S. Constitutional law, and thus highly illegal. Each of the States organizes and funds public education as it sees fit.

For those who do not wish to use public education, or who see it as unsuitable, there are numerous private schools available for all levels of society, ranging from facilities which are basically total imitations of the public schools, to highly exclusive academies with fancy facilities and even fancier dress codes.

For those who do not want even that, there is the option of home schooling."

The notion that salvation is bestowed on accepting a doctrine, or by relinquishing oneself unto a proclaimed savior, is not compatible with traditional Buddhist philosophy grounded on the reality of experiential suffering and the individual realization of the illusions surrounding them.

It is also against the traditional Buddhist philosophy of rational skepticism, and accepting doctrine only when evidence proves it to be valid and sound.

That is not to say salvation isn't relevant, rather it is a trivial matter when one observes the teachings of the Buddha as not some absolute dogmatic doctrine. It isn't to be treated as such, rather, it is a experimental procedure whereby the disciple tests out the teachings. Critical thinking is mandatory.

"Margaret 'Hilgathon' Thatcher, spent her early-adult life learning chemistry at an advanced level, quite an achievement for a female of her generation... Or rather it would have been if 'daddy' hadn't gotten her the placing, the only notable thing she achieved with this education was inventing a new machine for producing soft ice-cream, which allowed more air to be forced into the ice-cream in order to cut out ingredients at the cost of taste... Literally stealing candy from babies, is that ironic... I don't know... Interestingly, Michael Foot, the man who would eventually become her opposition leader spent a similar period of his life learning guerrila warfare in the mountains, he was part of The Home Guard's most elite squad 'The Rascals,' who's job it was, in the event of a successful Nazi invasion, to assasinate whosoever they installed as a pro-Nazi puppet Prime Minister... Perhaps that's ironic, I'm not sure, in any case it's certainly a cooler esoteric education for a political leader to have recieved.
But you sell her short: She administered financial policies which led to a radical increase in the value of the pound, causing British exports to cease, she oversaw a five-fold increase in unemployment, she managed to change Britain's economic outlook entirely, from the Keynzian school, which had overseen a measly 5.5% average annual rate of GDP growth over the previous three decades, to a neo-liberal school which saw the British economy grow by a massive 2% per year on average over the following three decades. She not only took Britain through that war you mentioned, but she took them to the war as well! Telling the Argentinians that they could have their sheep back and broadcasting her intent to sell the British aircraft-carriers to India, a stroke of tactical-genius too complex for us mere mortals to understand. Not only did she win three elections, but on a couple of them she got nearly two-thirds as many votes as the left-wing parties got! Isn't that incredible? Some of the schools survived the whole 11 years of her in charge! A handful of hospitals did too! The poverty rate rose by a mesely 120% during her time in charge!
All quite impressive for someone that the left... And the centre... And the not particularly political claim was charismatic, undeservedly-popular and totally incompetent."

Out of nothing but curiosity what exactly is the evidence for her father getting her the placing? Even if that is true, she certainly had credentials of her own. Also I'm fairly sure Michael Foot was working for a newspaper at the time.

"Britain has always been two nations, since 1066 when the Normans installed themselves as lords over the Germanic population, the upper class were quite literally a different nation with its own language imposed upon the English by invasion. From thenceforth the English class divide has been unbreakable, whereas the vast estates of German barons were fairly open affairs, in England the stately homes are markedly fenced off, the land "enclosed". Nationalism in England was rarely focused on a mythical English national identity but on allegiance to the Crown and its Laws, that is because there was no shared national identity to appeal to, but two. Even Socialism, supposedly the movement of a classless society, in Britain became but an organ of 'working class identity', paradoxically affirming what the entire ideology rallies against. This vacuous dichtonony is now perpetrated by both nations to the detriment of the third they both make up. The label of class overrides any convictions, reforms to welfare are bemoaned as "patronising the working class", "common" is still used as an insult, universities are bemoaned as "too middle class", the crimes of so-called "working class" individuals are stringently punished while free-wheeling bankers and shifty MPs are let off the hook. Britain cannot and will not survive unless it overcomes this ludicrous national obsession with class identity, notice I say identity, evidently every nation has its social classes, only in England do you find them turned into cultures. And to overcome this, will not make it Britain anymore."
