Describe your nations policies toward human rights issues: Korea is ran by an authoritarian regime that does not hold elections, nor does it allow parties outside of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front to exist. It is usually hostile to dissenters, but mild criticism of the government is tolerated. Those who do go "too far" with their criticism of the Korean government can expect a few days in a prison at best, a lifetime in a Kwalliso at worst depending on the offence. Despite this, the regime is slightly more permissive than the RL regimes in China or Vietnam. Gay rights are not legal in any part of Korea, though many of the major cities are LGBT friendly, the death penalty is legal and commonly used, and several social networking sites and news outlets are banned from Korean internet. Korea doesn't have a nice Human Rights record, to say the least.

The city burned. The 5th District was in flames, smoke rising from the buildings.
Why did it have to end like this? The Emperor mused. He had ruled over the Empire for less than a year, and this was already threatening to rip it apart. For hours now, reports came flooding into the Imperial Hall of people rioting and killing each other.

He had, with great hesitation, sent the Police on his own people. If there was nothing else to be learned from the past Emperor's failures, he had to realize that his people cannot be at war with each other. A broken shield serves for nothing.
The Emperor winced, hearing a louder than usual explosion in the background.

"Car bomb." A watch-man reported from the balcony. Such explosions were becoming more frequent, as people were rolling cars to Police fortifications and barracks and blowing them up. A second explosion followed the first one, and the watch-man repeated his earlier statement.

"What's the situation in the 5th?" The Emperor asked of the watch-men.

"Civilians have allowed the firemen into the district, to take out the flames. The first instance of cooperation so far, my Lord." The senior watch-man reported.

The Emperor turned to the Assembly, and gazed at them sadly.

"For centuries, the Empire has been at peace. Now this." He said.

"We --" The Minister of State began, but was cut off by a hand gesture of the Emperor.

"I don't want to hear it. I told you these things would happen, if we kept along the old lines." He said, quietly. Then suddenly, he got up from his chair and slammed a fist on the table. "I should've asserted control! You all are nothing! Nothing!"

The Ministers sat quietly, taking in the rage of the Emperor.

He continued, saying "If we had done things the right way, none of this would be happening! If I had been allowed to do--"
Another car bomb interrupted his sentence, and the room was startled into silence. The watch-man reported it, but added "It was closer! I estimate it to be in the 2nd District, close to the Central District."

The Emperor walked away from his chair, and went to the large window panes. He gazed out onto the glowing, ruined city, seeing and hearing the battles. People could be seen down the streets, rioting, not far from the Hall. He ordered any Police that weren't occupied in the South District to come to the Hall and defend it.

The Emperor turned back to the Ministers, and leaned against the glass. "Our city is falling. It is victim to itself. No more." He strode around the table, walking by the Ministers. He headed to the door, robes flowing behind.

"Ministers. It is time. I will have no more of your plans and aspirations. I will not be hindered any longer. This is my Empire, and I will rule it so." He raised his arm, looking at the Lieutenant of the Police in the room.

The Ministers looked at the Emperor expectantly, worried. Then they saw his arm fall.

"Fire! The Lieutenant barked, and gunshots rang out in the Hall. The Emperor retreated to the lower chambers of the building, taking only his most trusted aides and guards with him.

Inside the Main Hall, soldiers were shooting at Ministers, tables, walls, and other soldiers. Some had loyalty to the Emperor, some had loyalty to the Ministers, some had loyalty to the Empire. The Emperor's loyal soldiers executed their command, killing the Ministers. The Minister of War and the Minister of Defense's loyal soldiers were killing the other soldiers. The Empire's loyal soldiers were shooting at anything, firing brazenly.

The Emperor got into his private plane, and flew away to destinations unknown.

"That way! East, east, east!" The helicopter gunner yelled toward the cockpit. "Targets due east!" The helicopter flew toward the area indicated, and the gunner began opening fire on the APCs below. Luckily for them, the Eörlingan Army was average in every way, and a few well placed shots here and there would be enough to render an APC useless.

The helicopter joined two others coming from the west, to continue their assault on the eastern side of the base. Below, there was a convoy of reinforced trucks coming from Ferrin Street. An attack helicopter that was sympathetic to the cause appeared from across the horizon, and approached the gates of the compound rapidly.

'Target Acquired. Target Locked On. Missile Fired.' The attack helicopter's systems droned out, and the missile was fired from his wing. A red dot trailed by a gray-white cloud sped to the entrance, and opened it up for all with a resounding boom.

The reinforced convoy flooded inward, taking numerous positions beyond the gate, opening fire on any potential enemy. Specialized troops carried on, aided by the helicopters. When they approached their target, the captain of the group hopped out of his vehicle and began barking orders. "Lets go! Place explosives on those tanks, and let's light this mother f--king baby!"

Personnel began pouring out of their trucks, and placed improvised explosives on the massive oil drums. They then ran to the tanks that lay next to them. The 34th Armored Tank Unit had no chance to reach their tanks - having been blown up by the attack helicopter's earlier salvos.

The attack helicopter fired one last shot at the command tower, sending it tilting precariously to one side, and then it left the battle scene back to the hills from where it came. All the explosives had been placed and wired to fire. The teams ran over to the unoccupied tanks and began starting them, ready to mobilise into the 1st Rougad Tank Corps.

The remaining men that had been left to fight at the gates were still firing away, taking down whatever opposition that had been brave enough to reveal themselves. More than once, though, a grenade had made its way ovet to their side, and left unattended to, it blew up a truck, along with several Rougad men.

Describe your nations policies toward human rights issues: The People's Party plans to take a secular approach to religion in the sense that such issues as Marriage is not regulated by the state, for it is seen purely as a religious ceremony. It does not seek to eliminate marriage, but simply separate the state from it. The state under it's former head of state, Duke Jacob I, established Central Censorship. A morality control, that has been suspended by the People's Party till a consensus on it can be made. All citizen's regardless of race, sex, or faith are capable of vote. Most media is public, provided by the state due to the Duke's media network designed to insure the people could be reached during times of emergency. Private media does exist, though it's never reached the levels found in capitalist states. Most are radio stations, and local broadsheets. Interestingly it was these private media outlits that spread the message of the revolution. In short, Harbertia is in a state of transition. It was asked what our reasons for joining are, one of those reasons, is guidance.
