It revoked our ability to debate what we wanted, roleplay what we agreed with, or roleplay extremes, or roleplay ideologies never heard of. It didn't have to do with making a map or choosing a name. We set the politics, and that caused problems. It was rooted in realism.
It was not rooted in failing to build it from scratch. And Aurentina was not necessarily successful as a result of being built from the bottom up. Perhaps, and that is perhaps, it was at one point. You cannot affirm that it will be again. What you can do is learn from your mistakes. Baltonia's narrow political spectrum was a mistake. Aurentina's standstill after every relevant law could be passed was a mistake. Don't come up sigh alternative mistakes to be made this time; do something to stop them from recurring.
What one needs is a game plan of increasing the different sorts of government interactions. The stage 2 that Aurentina never got because of the straight jacket on RPing RL characters. Working out a way of having interactions with other nations and governments would be a start. We joined the UN and Commonwealth for example but had no way of RPing that due to the admin enforced rules. We need to find a way of doing that. I think more "random" events in the world that we might need to react to would also be a good step. Perhaps admins can come up with stuff, but other than coming up with the situation we need to be the ones to work out what the results will be.

I think the dispatch is a good start. We should also advertise the senate reboot in our signatures. Signatures is what brought me to the senate back in July, I recall, and joined August.

I can't say I'll know when it'll be ready because I've recently gone back to work and the start of the year is like hell.

I was thinking:
- Introduction (try to get people interested and not sent away by the term "NSG senate")
- Brief history
- What's going to be different
- Why it's good for IIers (plus interview with New Zep)
- Why it's good for Gameplayers (plus interview with *someone*)
- Why it's good for NSGers (plus interview with Union, *someone with left wing views* and *someone with far-right or far-left views*
- Why it's good for P2TMers (plus interview with *someone*)
- Concluding stuff
The people who would fill in the *someone* spaces are hopefully going to be people with several months experience in the senate, and people that are generally well known or people have heard of are preferable.

MV might make a good P2TM interview.
Thanks for the sentiment. I guess I could learn enough of the character of the subforum to do it.

The reason I'm saying this is your extensive experience on NS Sports, which to me is about as close to P2TM as you can get without being on it.

I'd strongly recommend that for Gameplayers, you try to interview District XIV (admittedly he's not well known in NSGS circles, but he has a name for himself both as a Gameplayer and a Roleplayer). For NSGers, I strongly recommend that you interview The New Sea Territory and The Scientific States, both well known NSGers. Unfortunately, I don't know who to interview for P2TMers. I'd do it, having dabbled in the Portal myself, but I'm not that well known in the Portal.

I'll put myself forward for NSG. I'm only an occasional resident, but hopefully people would recognise me from hanging around there and might perhaps be interested in what I have to say. I'm a bit more moderate than NST, so I'd possibly fill the position a bit better though that said I know I can be quite aggressive on occasions - Not perfect when you want someone to convince others to join.

Actually, I can help by putting the NSG Senate as a sponsor on he literary magazine. For that to have any effect, though, you'd have to wait about two months until we publish again (since sponsors are recorded at the back of each issue).
On the dispatch, we should definitely come to a consensus on what we're doing before it's posted, and on that note I feel we should have an organized discussion on it. Now, I'm not sure how organized you're interested in getting, but my thoughts were:
-Official thread, at first limited to someone for Blank Slate, TLT for Vestmark, someone for Adrius, and myself for the UN.
-First four pages (some number of pages) is given for debate.
-Debate follows a speaker's list. A motion can be made for an unmoderated caucus for a specific number of posts or pages, in which there is no limitation on posting for those involved in the debate. The moderator of the debate would rule that in order or dilatory.
-Once the page number expires, voting commences for a long period of time to get as many people voting as possible.
