Pan-Socialist Alliance?

I think I may just create a party called Solidarity or something and leave it at that. Nice, blank name and hope to attract the majority of Socialists (and possibly Luxemburgists/Trotskyists).

What if it attracted bunch of Poles?

It's never too early for me. I was thinking along with Union of making a pan-rightist free market party that accepts all regardless of social convictions, like the old CFE. Not only will this help "Unite the Right" *wink* but also solve the Libertarian question (how could a Libertarian party be so popular in a non-American nation?)

This was actually exactly what I wanted to do.

I would be very happy if it attracted a bunch of Poles, as long as they're vaguely Socialist Poles. And I'd like to ensure they're Poles and not poles.

Our main target audience should be roleplayers and WA goers. The latter is probably most "skilled" with writing bills and articles, while the former should have a grasp enough on roleplaying that we won't have riots every week and instead bring some life into what would normally be general+bills.

We should stay away from recruiting General forum goers as we do not want to bring the...antagonisms...from over there and have this devolve into a shitfest.

I would also seek out the more ideology focused people in Gameplay.

I don't think we can pick and choose when it comes to membership. Like it or not, the senate was most exciting when we had several NSGers around.

Sure.

I'm afraid General is our best source of recruits and will probably continue to be. I've not really seen many antagonisms being brought over from there and, actually, decent Generalite debaters will be decent debaters in our RP - They can put some life into the RP without avoiding the legislatory process.

I would also seek out the more ideology focused people in Gameplay.

From what I've seen, ideology-focused people in Gameplay tends to either mean extremist Nazis or anti-Nazis and beyond that it's all just raider/defender.

Before focusing on marketing, we need to have a product which at the moment we lack. We need something to market, something to make the people think "oh that looks awesome, I want in" and any current marketing campaigns will most likely cause people to think "interesting concept but I have no idea how its going to be pulled off" at best.
Prior to any marketing we need to figure out the mechanisms of the RP: is it going to involve foreign powers, how are they going to be RP'd, is it going to feature wild card events, if so how will it be generated, is it going to be casual so as to attract general/F7 audience or more RP savvy so as to attract P2TM/ II'ers etc.

Ideas to advertise:
- Legislative roleplaying
- Party politics
- Representing any views you want (whether your own or not)
- Realistic consequences for actions
- Non-legislative roleplaying

I need more.

That's what I was asking.

I think we need to show that the senate has changed, because many are fed up of the old senate. I actually think a re-naming of the RP could be needed, just to show that we have indeed changed.

I think a good name would be the NationStates: Parliamentary Nation, or NSPN for short. Sorry if it sounds too much like a simulation game, but it's the best I could come up with.

Used to be the NSG Parliament, in the days of the ancients. Then it was Senate, and you can argue it was Seima, but in legitimacy it was still the NSG Senate as a roleplay.

It's not picking and choosing, it's target based advertising. Basically we send out telegrams and join events or whatever to the people who would benefit the roleplay the most, while keeping the applications process open to all.

I'll admit honestly, there are a fair amount of people in General that I would rather not want to get involved, and if they do it would sort of ruin it for me. But I am not the one to deny people the right to join in the Senate due to personal tastes.

As for Gameplay, you may be right, but there are some decent folks there too I've met in my time. Just stay away from Antifa and GGR and we ought to be alright.

Our target alliance are other RPers, so perhaps you should link to this topic in your sigs liek I do. You and me post in other RP forums, so other RPers will see it.

But we should also make an announcement thread...

Also mass tgs are a good idea, we should dig out the old senator list and pm everyone.

I need more.

To the realistic consequences... how to determine/settle those?

Also... some basic stats. At least for a good budgetary battle :D and could be helpful for some laws too. The question again is how you determine the realistic consequences on those stats

1) That's going to take an obscene amount of stamps
2) That's spam
3) Just formatting the list will take upwards of 30 minutes
4) NS' TG system will take 30 more to process all those names

Hmm... some good points. What if we just look for the most "prominent" members? We could personalize the tgs (so no spam)

I think it's just best if individual members contact their friends rather than massive generic spam TGs. If it comes from somebody they get on with and has the personal touch they would be more likely to consider coming back.

It doesn't need to be spam, since we are simply advertising: something done by every region via recruitment tg's and our best hope at gaining large scale exposure. Even if 1% of people who read the tg decide to join and we spend $20 we will have 200 new members; that is much better than other forms of promotion can hope for.

Most recruitment TGs have success rates >0.1% and even worse retainment rates
