The article I now submitted to the RP news:
Image
Leishaagen. (NSGNA) Following the political turmoil that led to the dissolvement of the Aurentine NSG Senate, and the failed attempt to bring back the Senate in the region of Baltonia, the NSG News Agency is proud to announce that a number of former senators is attempting to re-form a government and lead the NSG Senate back to the glory of former days.

"We should start it back up soon!", "We need something to do!", "There are also some of us who wish to return!" were just some of the euphoric reactions of several former senators following the consensus that the Senate has to be re-activated.

"The old Senate was very broad. From left wingers to communists, to right wingers and centrists, monarchists and libertarians, the political spectrum was massive.", a former senator remembers about the Senate. "That's true, we had lots of good debates, we had events like an LGBT pride parade as well as our beloved coffee shop, and together we managed some severe crisises, like the terrorist bombing of our Senate building. But damn, that were good times...", another former member recalls.

"The problem is, many of our former colleagues have gone other ways in their life and can not participate in the new Senate. Others have vanished from this earth completely, what leaves the group of original senators who are still active very small.", one senator, who asked to remain anonymous, said about the participance. "That's my point, if we had more members it would last longer.", another senator stresses the need for more new senators.

"We therefore would like to invite everyone who is interested in politics to join our discussion and share his thoughts with us.", a former member of the Cabinet says. "Time for some new ideas!", a former member of the National Intelligencery shouts to the reporter.

A comment by a potential new member:
Greater Mackonia wrote:Well in my personal opinion the best scenario to cultivate long term activity would be if the senate took part in a country that has only just gained independence...some sort of ex-dependency like the Falklands Islands or French Polynesia (of course these are current dependencies but this is the sort of scale I think would be best). The setting's history and culture should be thought up as Aurentina's (appeared) to be, a sporadic burst of creativity that took place as the country was constructed...of course you should have some established backstory to help with character creation but big long pre-made histories could place players in a 'box' if you will.

From there you could have the fun of drawing up a new constitution, new political parties and other such things, I would think it would be best to save the sorts of more radical things like coups, separatist states and terrorism until the RP finds its feet a little. From the ignorant perspective of an outsider Baltonia just seemed to go up in flames a month after it was founded, one could infer this could deter perspective members (not me mind you, I was just busy).

A personal idea of mine is a small island in the Adriatic that was formerly part of Serbia/Yugoslavia but used to be a Venetian/Italian aligned merchant republic and has just gained independence from Serbia. Its got the potential political instability for the extremists but is 'normal' enough not to alienate people.

I have to confess the one idea I do dislike is the UN one, isn't NS itself an opportunity to RP as nations? I personally thought what made the senate unique was the opportunity to RP as individuals and political parties rather then actual states.

Best idea so far.

I highly doubt it was in your place to do such a thing. Unless you put this past an Admin or at least several other NSGS regulars, I personally condemn your actions.

1) it's not online anyways... perhaps someone has to review it or the system is broken
2) it's meant to attract new players, and i proposed it some time before and our former leaders were able to read it, but no one took the initiative
3) no idea who should be in charge in here, i mean 1 former admin tries to found his own senate in a separate topic, others left completely

In the space of just a few days you've arrived and acted like you're running the whole thing. I find it god damn annoying considering you never actually stuck around for longer than a couple of months.

Anyway, it's pointless advertising now. A reboot is quite a few months away and this will give new people expectations of it starting soon.

EDIT:* Brit excused, the pesky blighter ninja'd me! :)

Here here.

Nothing personal, but NW, it looks an awful lot like you're trying to take over this RP. And we already have leadership.

EDIT: We (or at least I) like that you're back and interested and hope more interested people follow, but just remember that we've got to let the admins decide what happens as far as the RP goes.

NB that is a disturbingly centralised statist point of view! We have to all decide together what we do. The admins are not the rulers/controllers of the RP, They are just there to enforce the rules or specifics we decide on together and deal with issues the majority decide need acting upon (Such as Drago being kicked out before). That is the original spirit of the senate, the direction of travel is decided by everyone not by a game-master/OP with the final say.

I guess you're right. All I was trying to say was that we don't need one person making all the decisions. I agree that the fact that the senate is democratic is what kept it going for so long.
