Virtual tabletop program? I'm not certain. What do you intend to do with this program?

Well, I sure as hell don't intend to drive people away from NS just to use it, but it's basically what it says on the tin, you can play a tabletop game, something like D&D, just on your computer with other neckbeards people.
Legalize owning RPG's and nuclear weapons, reinstate hanging, add in burning meat grinders, stop giving shits for airplane crashes, shut the fuck up about banning guns, the south will NOT rise again, you are just ignorant, look down on the poor, modify genetics so fat kids taste like bacon, cats are better than dogs, if you don't like what's going on in the middle east, fix it yourself, Obama is a good president, just a bad Congress, MLP is a kickass show.

I'll hazard a guess here: What your program does is calculate the outcome of things taking into account the factors you feed it, or something like that, correct?

Then you set up your RP and simply translate your players' posts into the information you would then feed the program, so that you can later post the results?

If so, I'd say you're free to do it, but then, I'm not sure if this is what you meant.

Alright, fuck it. Basically what I've been looking to do was run an RPG with a site called Roll20. I didn't really want to put it on here because I felt it was unnecessary. What it is it works like a board/tabletop game: You have your figures, boards, die, etc. and other players can join you in your game on there. I was wondering if people might be interested in doing an RPG using it, and then I can make an after-action post for each time it's played.

You should be clear if you expect help or answers to be of any significance.

Anyway, if that's what you're gonna do, it doesn't look like there'd be a lot of use for the threads here on NS. If you're determined to do it I don't think there's anything strictly against it (Though I'm not sure) but I'd recommend at least letting your players do their own after-action posts. It would boost the relevance of your IC, at least.

It sounds a tad complicated, and more suitable for a forum game than an RP. The way I see it, unless the players RPed as a group of people playing the game (Which can work, if you pull it off well), it would consist entirely of out-of-character stuff. This is just my opinion, of course.

But anyway, as for ideas, I gave one up there: RP as the people playing the game. Note that this is only as broad as your definition of people. 0wn, or any number of things, really. That the focus of your roleplay happens to be the rules means that the setting is more flexible and allows for more variety regarding the characters.

That was what I think the thing needed. Thanks.

Hehe. I got a new idea. How about a Fan War RP? We have the Sonic fanbase, the Mario fanbase, the Call of Duty fanbase, and all the others going out of their way to actually beat each other for their franchise, rather than some evil sorcerer/dictator/king/alien/insert anything here.

Don't get me wrong, I'm very well looking forward to a continental war, and realistic colonial landgrabs drove the politics of the day forward. Might very well be set sometime between 1885-1887 or 1916-1919, and all that jazz (punintended).

Scrounging for interest in what has become an overused time period.

Now it's HERE!

RP INTEREST AND ADVERTISEMENT
Please provide as much detail as possible.
RP's Overarching Concept: A light AWRP (POD no earlier than 1848) focused more on the sharp and dramatic turns of international relations and petty maneuvering of diplomacy and slick dealings and concessions rather than the dull trudging along of lightning colonial landgrabs that make no mention of dysentery, malaria, yellow fever, pneumonia, etc. that make up the bulk of AWRPs. In short, realpolitik revolving around a Russian Revolution of September 1916.
Genre/s: Alternate history, diplomacy, politics
Character or Faction Based: Faction
Detailed Description: Queen Victoria's Great Exhibition in 1851 brought all the right crowds, even those of the chess player variant. While on break during the very first international chess tournament in London, 21 June, Adolf Anderssen and Lionel Kieseritzky played an offhand match. It was dubbed the Immortal Game, and for good reason; Anderssen sacrificed two rooks, a bishop, and a queen in order to secure a checkmate. In our reality, Kieseritzky moved 20... Na6, but here he elected to move 20...Ba6. No matter the action, Anderssen ends up victorious, but this one move creates a divergence, the results of which would, as the stepping upon a fragile butterfly would, alter the course of history forever, and thus the fate of the world as we know it.

Now, it is September 1916, and Russia stands in the aftermath of a revolution. Who instigated this revolution, you say, and against whom? More importantly, what was the outcome? All this and more must be answered by you, the player, and none other, for a civil war looms against the horizon, the likes which will change the face of the world from the taiga to the British seas and beyond. Such a burning propensity is felt in all circles, from the Reichstag of Berlin to the Parliament of London to the Cortes of Madrid to the Congress of Washington; the situation recalls an era of Blood and Iron, of ruthless pragmatism and diplomatic tact.

Gone now are the days of dull conflicts, peace, goodwill, and colonial concessions No, the days of plotting, scheming, and Machiavellian enterprises that might be expected in the realm of realpolitk rule supreme, and cunning, stabs-in-the-back (real or assumed), backroom deals, heated negotiations, political outmanoeuvring, and vague wordings shall be the weapon of the will of the state. Breathe now, in royalty, the air of sharp and dramatic turns of international relations and petty maneuvering of diplomacy and slick dealings and concessions rather than the dull trudging along of lightning landgrabs that make no mention of dysentery, malaria, yellow fever, pneumonia, etc, and shape the land as you see fit.

Maestro, choose your instrument, and let the music play.

So, nearly midnight, running a computer with 1GB or RAM, and I'm officially despising everything about the notebook I'm using... when I say it's a notebook, I'm talking a notebook from like 2006... not the smallest thing in the world... ever. YouTube even has the occasional Captain Crap-tastic moment. I know there's someway to force your computer to use more RAM, but I don't know how... and not sure if it works with laptops/notebooks. e_e

Boom. Makes Windows use hard drive space as RAM.
Note, however, that it only uses it it if needs it, and if it doesn't need it you'd never see any benefit from using more.

RP INTEREST AND FEEDBACK REQUEST
Please provide as much detail as possible.
RP's Overarching Concept: A comedy RP about a bunch of fanboys killing each other because they don't like the other fandoms. It's a war RP, except instead of an evil dictator or an alien, the villain is the other fanbases.
Genre/s: comedy, war
Character or Faction Based:character
Detailed Description:It is a dark time in the world. A great war rages across the land, air, and sea. The oceans are clogged with the wreckage of warships, leaking out nuclear waste into the sea, killing all the innocent fish. The sky is covered in one endless grey cloud, starring down at the ground with a permanent death glare. The lands are splattered with the gore and mangled bodies of men and women, mostly of teenage age. The world is in a grave state of anarchy, as street violence runs rampant throughout the world. What could have caused this, you may ask? The one thing everyone holds dear to their heart and brings them joy in life. It gives them a sense of purpose in their lives when they feel at their worst. It is their fandom.

For too long, the fandoms of the great works of fiction have been at each others' throats. The Sonic fanbase and the Mario fanbase, the Nostalgia Critic and Angry Video Game Nerd, Pewdiepie and Tobuscus, along with all the other franchises, once only fought on in the realms of forums on their computers, insulting the others for their minor flaws. They judged the fans of other franchises based on their worst members. It was like this, until they finally had enough with each other. The Call of Duty fans threw up their Xbox controllers triumphantly and attacked the Team Fortress 2 army, taking the war to its extreme. The other franchises joined in, and eventually, destroyed the world.

With the world in turmoil, the remaining members of each fandom inhabit small pockets, still armed to the teeth. The only thing on their mind is to wipe out the others, proving their undying dedication to their celebrities. What is to become, no one knows.

Tgging.

BTW, I'm wondering if anyone have ever done Call of Duty: Modern Warfare-style RP, added it with Fantasy stuff? And perhaps we can also add in Magical Girls. :3

Well, I liek Call of Duty series except the MW3 and Ghosts tho (cuz they're bland IMO).

Soooo, I know you're probably aiming for some fantastic stuff here, rather than anything realistic, but I'll still ask, how did the fans get all those weapons or otherwise cause so much destruction? Did they acquire powers related to their fandom or something?

As for getting people interested, I could give you a whole lot of advice if this were already an RP, but since it is only a call for interest there's only so much you can do, one of these being posting here. You might want to TG people you have RPed with before who you think could be interested in this, as well. It might help.
