Never ran an RP before but I came up with a premise and I'm wondering if anyone's interested.

You play as the inhabitants of a prestigious college and the quaint surrounding town during the height of the student protest movement in the late 60s. One catch: the quaint town is Arkham, Massachusetts, and the college is Miskatonic University.

So basically a school RP about what happens when you combine the hippie-era counterculture of sex, drugs and radical politics with undulating inhuman gods and things man was not meant to know. Get ready for the bad trip of a lifetime.

I think you're going to have to be a bit more specific, buddy. Is the world you're talking about an already established world (as in, taken from a videogame/show/book), or is it something you've created yourself?

If it's the former, then you would do well to describe how the world in question works and provide links to a wiki, if available, or other information resources and such.

If it's the latter, then you're going to have to be a lot more descriptive. You'll have to tell your prospective players every detail about the world you've made, give them sufficient information for them to be able to roleplay effectively.

As for finding people, well, that's a bit trickier. You can advertise, post in the Restaurant or here maybe, use TGs to ask people you've roleplayed with before and see if they're interested.

Playing the "after the end" mod really got me into wanting to start an rp in that universe.

Fir those who don't know, after the end is set in a post apocalyptic north America, over 600 years in the future. At some point, supposedly around our time, a great calamity occurred destroying every nation on earth and sending humanity back into the dark ages. All, or at least most, of the information and knowledge about the world before the apocalypse occurred has been lost and society has returned to a medieval state. Kings and warlords rule over fractured portions of NA struggling against the dangers of their world while also trying to rediscover their roots and the history of the world that was lost to them.

I don't know whether or not it would be best RPed as a character or nation RP, but I'm leaning a little more toward character and would follow the adventures of a group of unlikely adventurers as they journey across the continent in search of information and knowledge about what happened to the world before them and how to bring it back.

Zark has some good points, but I've got somewhere you can meet people. A buncha guys who are almost always interested in novel ideas.

Am I the only one here sick of all the serious RPs? I mean C'mon, where are the comedy ones. Well, I had an idea that may just be good enough to work. The title is Old Farts and Big Guns and the story is that Super-Soldiers from the future have come back in time to kill the entire human race and the entire US military was killed, aside from a few high ranking Generals and a bunch of Vets from WW2, Korea, and Vietnam who all have to defend their home town from the invading Super-Soldier dudes. And no, I am not stoned.

Well, I didn't mean that literally. If most of it would be irrelevant to roleplaying, then simply put down what is relevant. Since you're the one who created the setting then you should be able to answer most questions effectively either way. Just make sure that you put in enough information to appeal to potential players.

Well, I didn't mean that literally. If most of it would be irrelevant to roleplaying, then simply put down what is relevant. Since you're the one who created the setting then you should be able to answer most questions effectively either way. Just make sure that you put in enough information to appeal to potential players.
