I love Magic the Gathering and I was wondering if there was any Magic The Gathering related Roleplays going on right now.

How does that even work? Wouldn't you just play it online like everyone else too poor to buy the cards?

Not exactly, there was one that just involved playing as planeswalkers, summoning "cards" and fighting other players with them.

What do you need help with: Ideas and critiques of this RP idea I have... Maybe suggestions are where the RP could go? General help.

The year is 2026, and presidential campaigns are finally heating up. It has been 6 years since “The Great Corruption,” in which a massive overhaul of all confidential and sealed government filed were released. The files contained everything from secret e-mails, to recordings of approved domestic assassinations. The 1.5 terabytes worth of files were leaked by whistleblower Jacklynn Frontier, the then-Whitehouse Press Secretary. This massive leak led to hundreds of arrests, indictments, convictions, all within the United States Federal Government. This major power vacuum was only filled with more corrupt, greedy, and conniving officials. Due to this sudden change, a massive paradigm shift has occurred within the United States, where people have become accustomed to murder, assassination, and other often political crimes, as long as they are in the name of politics, and kept away from public eye.

This is where you come in. You can be a politician, a reported, an assassin, the average working joe who witnesses a bribery; this is the real world. Be anything you want to be (within reason.) This will be a lot of backdoor deals, bribery, betrayal, etc..

I've been a huge fan of legal dramas like The Good Wife and Suits. So, my question is, would anyone be interested in a legal drama kind of roleplay? Perhaps, we could get enough characters to form separate "firms" and have trials against one another. Or we could have a firm and a DA's office. Or maybe there could be just one firm and the storyline focuses on office-related shenanigans. There possibilities are endless...

These forums need a good cyberpunk RP. A story full of faceless corporations, hot-as-heck cyberware, high tech and low life - all under a sky the color of television tuned to a dead channel.

Question is, am I alone in feeling this way?

Holy smokes! This appeal actually got some response! I'll admit I sure as shucks didn't see that coming. But anyway; glad for it.

We can say that I'm not entirely against cyberpunk, but I'm not entirely supporting it. Because I have really little experience with cyberpunk RP. Or Sci-Fi RP in general.

If that's the case, then a cyberpunk flavored RP sounds like precisely what you need in order to remedy that. As a side note, iconic reads like The Shockwave Rider, Mona Lisa Overdrive and, above all, Neuromancer, could also fill you in.

I feel ya. There'd be illegal cloning and the like, I presume ?

Why, of course. It'd hardly be a dystopian future without it. Or perhaps it would, but it's certainly not out of place.

I was thinking of converting the Protoverse into a cyberpunk kind of setting, although I couldn't decide on which timeperiod would be better, the 199X or 200X.

199X, would be more of the typical dystopic 80's setting for it, but 200X is far more totalitarian than previous.

I'm afraid I'm not familiar with the Protoverse, but my personal sympathies rest firmly with the 80's. That's nostalgia for you.

Anyhow; how would such an RP shape up? A couple key factors that need to be decided are: character versus faction and story versus free-for-all.

I'm sitting on my own RP idea, but I don't plan to launch it until at least the end of June, so I'm just collecting ideas for the time being. It steampunk, so yours won't be a threat ;p

Cyberpunk- A futuristic, often dystopian setting, in which technology is highly advanced. However, most of the time, corporations have gained power and are almost completely unregulated. Cyberpunk is often focused on corporate warfare and espionage.

Biopunk- Similar to Steampunk, except that the advanced technology is biological. Think of the Darwinists from that one steampunk vs biopunk book series.

Dieselpunk- In which technology has advanced in use, but not necessarily anything else. Many things are run by gasoline, and feature dark steel and belching exhaust pipes.

There may be a few more.

Atompunk- Everything runs on miniature fission reactors, Nuka Cola in the stores, that kind of stuff. 50s estethics.

Retro-Cyberpunk - Think of Cyberpunk, but with 80s level computer technology. Pretty nerdy.

Unfortunately, I know little about Fairy Tail or D&D. I was about to say that you should try at the Animu Enclave, but I see you already tried. My advice would be to flesh out the idea a little more, you've told us that there's a portal b/w D&D and FT, but besides that, that's it. Will the characters be these adventurers? Is there some overarching plot or villain, or is it a freeform? You may want to answer some of these questions to make things clearer. Separate the part given us info about FT and D&D from the part that actually tells us what the RP is about, because right now it's just a runon sentence. As for grammar and spelling, here's a website you may want to try out. Or you could copy and paste into word and use the Spellcheck there. To get more analysis, and help, I would recommend Tging a mentor and asking them to take a look. That's what they're here for!

Hey guys, I just wanted to drop by and do some evil advertising. I've been pretty inactive in NS for a while, and wanted to get back into role play here with my own fantasy RP. It is set 1600 years after a great great magical war, and large nations are just starting to form again. I want the RP to be about player freedom, so you have lots of options. You can play as anything from a hat maker to a god, both, or even a hat maker that happens to be a god!

I would be very interested. Maybe you can call it the Clockworks or something.

What I'm thinking is that there is one "official" entrance, but several secret entrances exist and, despite international treaties prohibiting it, are exploited by nations/organizations for their own profit.

If you ever decide to develop this, I could write up the Official UN Guide to the Machine or something like that.
