Please provide as much detail as possible.
RP's Overarching Concept: Trouble-making teens spend a week in prison to see how their lives will be if they continue on with their life. It is based off of a show called "Scared Beyond Straight".
Genre/s: drama
Character or Faction Based: character
Detailed Description: The one thing parents fear the most is their kids going down the wrong path. For some, that fear becomes a living nightmare. These kids become out of control. They lie, steal, and fight, even hit their parents. Because of this, local and state authorities have created the "Scarred Straight Program". This program allows these kids to spend one week in a real state prison as inmates. After spending seven days living in a cell with prisoners, will these kids change their ways?

It's a clever idea- do you have a larger plot in mind than walking through a prison though?

Not too much, to be honest. I'm more 'big picture' than 'small details'. Maybe there can be a couple of sub-plot lines about prison break, one about becoming the toughest guy in the yard, and one about survival in a concrete jungle. I'm not too sure.

Mm, I see. The main difficulty that presents itself to me is what RPers would actually do, aside from RPing snot-nosed teen gangbangers. That might be enough for folks though

It would be set on a jungle moon full of life but most of it is deadly to humans. The reason people have come to this moon is to mine the rare element found their that can power whole cities for weeks with just a tiny amount of it. However the moon is deadly with the natives being a barbaric society and with humans coming closer to find the element the more they are killed in horrific ways. The player would be troops set to the moon to protect the mining of the element and to elimate any hostile threat of course there is much more to the moon then that.
This was just a very rough draft and if you can give me ideas that would be great. I want this to have a good lore but also don't want to spend hours if no one is interested in it. Thank you for feedback in advance.
So James Camerons Avatar with more Human perspective?

Depends, are you seeking a greater power (aliens or whatever) to come, and occupy the earth thus making it easier to deal with the local inhabitants by disabling their systems?
Of-course the whole uncovering an ancient, and powerful device tested on this planet before life came on it could work as well. Work as it still have power left to it, and cripple humanity back to the pre-electric 19th century (or worse).
Just what role will the characters be playing in this radically changed world?

Well the characters have to survive after the world loses power they will have to defend themselves from bandits or a group of people.
The device thing will work.

Obviously the only people powerful enough to keep said device secret in order to test are either corporations, or a military. In their greed they either intend to exploit it as a weapon or use it as a way to power the world (and thus gain almost monopolic control of it). In a hushed conference the greatest minds of the military, and science gather to watch what could be the biggest payday ever or an utter disaster (think the Trinity bomb testing in New Mexico). In their anticipation they order the device to be activated yet in their vanity they have only researched just enough to know how to operate it, but not what it does. The device begins to lighten up, but something goes wrong while trying to fix it one of the scientists messes up, and hits the self destruction command.
A blast of blue light is the last thing they ever see as the base, and towns near it are killed instantly. The rest of the world sees the light as it circles the globe it will be the last form of light they see as the power turns off within seconds of being passed by the wave. This is the new world created by humanity perhaps they will do better this time, or do things as they see fit? Who knows it is all up to you.

To state it simply, to just has to be about the size of the EVE Online map or smaller and easily editable. It can even be the EVE Online map for all I care, I just need something I can edit. I would be much obliged if anyone has a suitable map.
