I wouldn't want to run a realistic nation simply because I'd slip up in doing so, I'd screw up so bad if I tried playing something realistic.

Are you kidding me? When we first met, you presented your nation with a true Soviet feel. I was immensely impressed. You captured the flavor, the people, the feel. Plus you blend in concepts from Ace Combat and other fictional things.

I happen to be very fond the BranRiech and your efforts. I think your current leader is a [censored], but she'd be a fantastic addition to one of my banquets. You play her well. Readers get a feel for the burdens placed upon her and her desire to do what's right by your people.

John's nation is based on Star Wars. Nearly everything about his nation is referenced to that, including place names, the Force, species and so on. In fact, if we google parts of his nation, we keep running into Wookiepedia pages (because he'll pulled nearly everything right off that site). He's tweaked some things but the vernacular and concept are identical to the franchise. You'll find Jedi Knights, Wookies, Death Stars and other things in use. That's fine. It's his nation. There's nothing wrong with it. It simply won't work in a RP set in modern times and based on real life.

I still don't fully understand the II/NS difference other than to say that I run into realistic nations more in NS. These are MT nations which mirror real nations in the world today. They have histories which can date back to Roman times. They have constitutions and other necessary things which are so tight that they could pass for the actual thing. Think of them as non-fiction in feel.

When they hold events, they have a concept in mind. Players running scifi/fantasy/video game based nations have to conform to the host nation's laws and wishes. Magic, FT, furries, Ponies, cat girls, non-humans, dinosaurs, and such would be out of place in a setting based in real life and modern Earth, ergo that nation is denied from game play if they intend to use those things. "Non-fiction" themes aren't interested in "fiction" themes. They aren't being snobs. They're running something very realistic.

Well, I always thought II was for earth-shaking things like wars and such, while Nationstates was for more relaxed things, like a conference on signing a free trade treaty or a state dinner.

Frankly, the 'considerable length' bit is never up to any one specific person, so there's not a lot one can do except follow rules and stick around.

Well, does the Odin RP interest you?

I already have most of the plot planned out, I just need backstory for it, such as when Kayla/Savior appears and gives the info which basically goes like this.

*People are arguing on how to end the war, Savior/Kayla just walks in though they can't see her face due to a hooded rob like the jedi ones she's wearing, all they can see is that she is female and blond.*

*All marines and the five specters on the bridge point their guns at her.

Captain McCaptain-Who are you?

Savior-Call me Kayla.

McCaptain-How did you get here.

Savior-I have my ways.

*Nicolas and his love Julia look at eachother, sensing something strange.*

That's actually all I have down though I do have it's ending.

Well, I suppose I meant the whole military aspect. I'm bad with that sort of stuff. When I look at military, I like things for how cool they look, not for how they'd actually perform on the battlefield.

which is why the main ground attack plane we use is the IL-102.

I don't think that's wrong, frankly, as long as the person(s) on the other end are fine with your style.

But then, the discussion does revolve around realism so I'll just waddle away.

Space Opera man, Space Opera without romance.

I don't even consider the Gaiaverse to be 'sci-fi' in the sense that it's all futuristic, it's sci-fi in that it's in space.

Is their futuristic stuff? Yes. Is it a major part of the world or stories? No.

So does yours, but you don't even prepare it properly. You toss it in the bloody harbour instead of the teapot, and then you stick ice in it, of all things.
