The latter. Of course, I fucking love 50s aviation, but I wouldn't want to live there if I could choose something more recent (I'd prefer the 90s). I'd only choose the 50s if it were the latest decade I could choose to live in. Too many people like to idealize the 50s and say we should go back to them, without realizing just exactly how shitty they were (socially, technologically, etc.), even by their own standards. Even the 60s were way better (even had better sci-fi) in comparison, despite only being the next decade.
But by God, those two decades produced some kick-ass music that has yet to be totally matched.
Actually, I'd say more like the entire half century, though the 50s only produced some of it, even accounting for the fact that it was only 10 years out of the 50 being compared. But highly influential nonetheless. The only positive thing about the 50s, really, was that it was an important transition period for the nation as a whole, socially, culturally, technologically, etc. Not nearly as important as the 60s, but without the transition of the 50s, the transition of the 60s wouldn't have been possible. The 50s taught us as a nation, many lessons which we promptly forgot. It was in many ways, less Leave It To Beaver, and more The Crucible.

I don't think I could create a character that does justice to the setting.
It'd be country-based rather than character-based.
I get why it'd be hard to create an RP like this, though, considering that not many people really know much about East Asia, or enough to really be interested.
And also since I've been trying to do something like for the past like two years with overwhelming opposition from others.
How so?
