Well, I avoided TV tropes because I couldn't figure how to get to were I want, but maybe that's just me.

IIRC, it's crowdfunded redesigning; TVTropes 2.0. Now even more addictive. :P

Also, has nobody heard of field hockey?

Been sitting in a terminal in LAX for the past few hours waiting to board the flight I'm going to be taking nonstop to Oregon. Only problem? I still have fifteen more minutes to wait and so I know I'm going to be unable to sleep as-is. =°=

1... 2... Oh! Got to board! Wait. Crap, we might get to be diverted to Portland in tonight's flight. Marginal weather of an unfavorable type is in Medford. ;~;

If we get on, we might still make it in, but they can't be certain until we're lining up for final approach on the flight. -_-

It's a reference to a governing body/assembly in Frank Herbert's classic sic-fi novel Dune. More or less.

What the hell is the point of hockey?

As a Canadian who, according to the stereotype, should be a hockey fan, I can confirm all three of these statements. I haven't been to too many games (I tend to avoid sports in general, in fact; though I do have to admit that there are some pretty hot soccer players out there :3 ), but those I have attended have done nothing for me except occupy my mind with the question: "OK, when can I leave?"

No, no. Lacrosse involves launching the ball through the air with tiny nets on poles and subsequently catching it with those same nets. Field hockey uses a wooden stick to whack the ball around on the ground. They're quite different.

IIRC, though, they both involve whacking your opponents on the shins with your stick.

According to the internet, the average temperature in Melbourne in July is 6oC. That is warm.

Yeah, but we have to do all our matches in the morning, and last year, training in the morning as well. In just shorts and a t-shirt (which is required uniform) it's pretty bad.

Meh. When I lived on the West Coast last year I had to do Phys. Ed. in similar conditions. Running tends to warm you up. :P

I do see your point, though, and I guess I can sympathise.

On the other hand, the year before that when I lived in Qatar, doing Phys. Ed. outside was brutal all times of the year, simply because the heat and humidity were so terrible. In fact, going outside at all was brutal. I honestly prefer the Canadian climate, because at least we have decent weather for half of the year.

Can't say that I have. It seems kind of interesting, though.
