I live in the deep South, we don't have many Canadians, so no, i haven't. Any contact I have with them is usually during my annual trip to DC. I can't tell the difference until they speak. Definitely a different people, different country, different issues, somewhat different culture. They are not Americans.

I'm just fed up that everywhere I go, people expect me to speak the same language they do. The same people come here, and they expect me to speak their language.

People assume that because Louisiana was a French colony hundreds of years ago that we still speak it. They get offended when they visit and learn that we just kept the names of the places and not the language. This is no longer part of France, this is the United States. We do not speak your language nor do we want to. Go to Canada if you want French speakers.

Same situation, except for this happening with every fucking language in the world, and with England only having held a small part of the Netherlands for two weeks, France for two years, and Germany for four years.

Oh for crying out loud. People see one or two Americans do something stupid and they tag it to all of us. Not fair at all.

I have traveled to six different countries on three continents and only in Africa did I receive special treatment but that's only because America basically pays for everything in Swaziland (yet we can't pay our OWN debt?) I don't expect special treatment. I am a guest in your country and I will gladly follow whatever rules you have because you were kind enough to let me in.

My mother is a geography and world history teacher, I have to know a thing or to about each country or I'd get smacked in the back of the head. Plus history is one of my favorite subjects. Public schools don't put much emphasis on it though so it makes us look ignorant. Luckily, I only went to private schools.

not me. the schools I attended were mostly filled with wealthy African Americans. Plus, all men are equal and this country offers freedom of religion so Muslims don't bother me unless they are flying planes into buildings or blowing up our ships in port. I am against the Taliban and those responsible for terror attacks but that is hardly all Muslims. Every religion has its wackjobs.

That being said, I love traveling. I'd like to spend more time in Europe one day.

They have a right to laugh at me even if I am offended, as long as they respect my right to laugh at something they do. There are many Buddhists, Muslims, Taoists, ect. on my college campus and we all get along. It bothers me not.

Religion should be kept out of political affairs. No religious political parties, either (ie no "Christian Democrats", "Liberal Budhist Party" etc).

Clinton was not. I'm not sure what Obama is. I really hadn't noticed that until you pointed it out. I just know that our founders were Christian and that we claim to be a "Christian Nation." Or are we? What about the Middle East? The leaders of most countries there have to be Muslim, why? Because they are a Muslim nation. Besides, it's all about who the people elect here. God sets up the worlds leaders and takes them down, that's what I believe. But you might believe something different, can't judge you for that.

We're a melting pot of ideas, races and religions. I'm proud of my country and what it stands for, just not so much the idiots that live here.

And Europe has its idiots and ignorant fools as well. I should tell you about the Swede that I met in Moscow...

I wasn't aware that legally there was anything barring Non-Christians from becoming president. It's just the largest religion in the country.

I don't even really remember a Non-Christian running. You'll hear some people (usually conservatives) claiming the opposite candidate is "Non-Christian," like in Obama's case, but that has nothing to do with votes or not.
