Neither me or my family have ever been too wrapped up in politics, so I suppose my children will follow the same trend: have a voice, but not be too politically active.

Are they Labor supporters?

Usually they are. And with everybody knowing that capitalism is fucked, Labor will drift away from the center and further to the left. The greens will experience a burst of popularity as the earth's climate goes down the crapper. I shall move there and bask in the left-wing habitability.

Believe it or not, I actually support such an idea. If we can make the problem bad enough fast enough, maybe people will wake up and act. But if the problem continues to get gradually worse, people will just put off solutions and/or deny the problem until it's too late. It's the frog in the boiling water metaphor. Turn the temperature up slowly and the frog boils. But if we turn up the heat fast enough, maybe the frog will jump out. ...assuming the frog isn't too fucking stupid.

I would too, to be honest. The world needs a big ass scare in the form of a huge natural disaster. That, or the oil needs to run out. People will quickly get over their "eyesore!" complaints for wind turbines and their squeamishness for nuclear when they become the only viable options.

Our oil reserves will only stay around for another 40 - 50 years at least at current consumption rates so it won't be long before that happens.

At CURRENT comsumption rates. One problem there, buddy.
As China and India become more developed, you'll have more than two billion people consuming oil first-world style. Even in currently developed countries, population growth and technological advancement will make rates of consumption increase exponentially.
