Yes. But your computer will be in the safe hands of a friend rather than some random stranger.

Resetting the BIOS should work, definitely sounds like the overclock messed with it. The RAM sounds less likely but still is possible.Lordieth wrote:Really, I just need an extra pair of hands to help with the fiddly cable removal and CPU Cooler disassembly.Auremena wrote:Yes. Trying the simplest thing first by taking out the CMOS battery to reset the bios. I had an overclock on the motherboard. It's possible it may have become unstable. My other theory is that there's an issue with the ram in dual channel mode, which some people have had issues with on this mobo.
I really hope it's just the bios. That would be so easy. If it's the RAM I have to take the CPU cooler apart, and it's a massive after-market cooler, and a pain to get on/off.

I suggest you invite a friend that lives nearby to lunch in exchange for help. And by nearby, I mean in East Lansing

It wasn't the bios, which unfortunately means I'll have to take it apart and re-seat the RAM, next. Then try it in a few different configurations. If that doesn't work, I'll have to put in the replacement motherboard.
Either way I think that's my afternoon taken up with this.

Does it really take that long to take out the cooler?

Have hun!Lordieth wrote:Nah. I just hate it because it's awkward to get the screwdriver between the two big blade towers.
From various googling, it appears to be a common problem with these motherboards. It looks likely I'll be taking the entire thing apart and moving over to the spare motherboard. I'll try re-seating the RAM when I take out the cooler, but I def think the motherboard is borked.
Anyway, going out for a while. Back later.

By the way, friendly information: I suspect your flag is out of code. Pity too, because I like it. Now flags aren't my jurisdiction, but if you change it before a game mod does, it might be to your benefit. *nod*
I did expect someone to point me that but I wasn't sure if it was or not. Better safe than sorry.

That's a bit more explicit.
